Free-agent RB D'Onta Foreman (Colts) will try out for the Detroit Lions.
Footballguys view: Foreman is a big power back who has struggled to stay healthy as a pro. The Lions have Kerryon Johnson and rookie D'Andre Swift as the top two backs on the depth chart. We'll see if they want Foreman to compete for a reserve spot. |

Indianapolis Colts RB D'Onta Foreman (biceps) was waived from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Aug. 24, after the two sides reached an injury settlement.
Footballguys view: Foreman has a recovery in front of him that should take all of the 2019 regular season. That means he'll have to work out for a new team next offseason just hoping he can stay healthy and latch onto a roster somewhere. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Indianapolis Colts RB D'Onta Foreman (biceps) will remain with the team while rehabbing torn biceps. He's expected to miss four months but the team intends to keep him for next year.
Footballguys view: Foreman is ineligible to be designated to return since he was put on I.R. before final cuts. He's a talented big back but injuries have robbed him of the potential he once had. Foreman is no lock for the 53-man roster in 2020. |

Free-agent RB D'Onta Foreman (Texans) was claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts on Monday, Aug. 5.
Footballguys view: Reports indicate the Texans were not happy with Foreman's work habits, so they let him go and the Colts quickly add the power runner. Foreman may work as the primary ball-carrier behind Marlon Mack. Nyheim Hines will work as the change-of-pace back for the Colts once again this year. Foreman would only have fantasy value if Mack gets banged up...provided he impresses his new team and beats out guys like Jordan Wilkins and Jonathan Williams for the backup role. |

The Houston Texans waived RB D'Onta Foreman Sunday, Aug. 4.
Footballguys view: Foreman's work ethic and habits were at the root of this action. He can run the ball well if he gets back everything he had before his achilles tear, but he wasn't big on special teams or as a pass blocker, and meeting punctuality among other things was also an issue. He might land somewhere soon with his size/speed combination. The Texans should be in the market for a #2 back via trade or claiming someone at final cuts. Josh Ferguson is set up to be a passing down back and UDFAs Karan Higdon and Damarea Crockett have an outside shot to make the team, along with Buddy Howell a 2018 UDFA who was claimed from Miami and contributes on special teams. |

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman is reportedly part of a 'wide-open' competition for the backup job behind Lamar Miller, according is made by head coach Bill O'Brien.
Footballguys view: Foreman isn't exactly seizing the RB2 job in Houston. While this is good news for Lamar Miller's stock as the clear lead back, it could induce the team into dealing for a back or at least adding one of the biggest names to be released at final cutdowns. The Houston backfield is far from settled, but Miller looks like he'll return value on his very modest ADP. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman's performance this year will be a 'season-long audition' to show he deserves to be the lead back in 2020, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
Footballguys view: The Texans backfield is projecting to be a committee and it might not have enough production to support two weekly fantasy starters. Lamar Miller will need Foreman to be a flop to hold down the kind of workload he had last year, but Foreman might not be a hit even if he proves to be recovered from his 2017 achilles tear. It will be difficult to be eager about investing in this backfield. |

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman is 'light years' ahead of where he was last season, according to running backs coach Danny Barrett. Foreman is down to 230 pounds and more explosive after he battled back from an Achilles' injury.
Footballguys view: Good news for the big back here...now he just needs to stay healthy. The team really likes Foreman and he could be in line for more playing time if he can stay away from the injury bug. There is a chance that Foreman could push Lamar Miller for the top spot on the depth chart later this summer in training camp...stay tuned. |

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) has reportedly made 'good progress' in his recovery from his 'significant' Achilles injury in 2017 and parlayed that into a 'good spring,' according to head coach Bill O'Brien.
Link to storyD'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) returned to the team in good shape, according to general manager Brian Gaine.
Footballguys view: Foreman only appeared in two games in 2018, including the playoffs. His second season was lost due to this injury but now that he's healthy Foreman should push Lamar Miller for playing time. Pay attention to this battle, and Foreman's effectiveness, in the preseason. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) is reportedly 'much leaner' than he was during his first two NFL seasons and is currently 'a few pounds shy' of the 235-pound weight at which he was listed on the roster in 2018.
Footballguys view: Foreman appeared in just one game in the 2018 season, rushing seven times for minus-1 yard. The Texans have been optimistic about his return from the Achilles' injury that limited him in 2018. They have Lamar Miller as their lead back, but he's in the final year of his contract with the team. Foreman could earn a large role if he can stay healthy and impress on the field. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') has worked hard so far this offseason and impressed the Texans with how he's looked after missing all but one game last year.
Footballguys view: Foreman has a chance to be the running back of the present if he gets all the way back. The Texans are at a crossroads with Lamar Miller with 5.5 million due this year. They could address the position in free agency or the draft if they have doubts about Foreman. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman still has a bright future with the team, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. 'So, hopefully with a good offseason, here's a guy that can really, really be an excellent player in this league,' O'Brien said.
Footballguys view: Lamar Miller's time with the team may be coming to a close. Releasing Miller would free up $6.2 million in cap space with just $1 million in dead money. Foreman would have a much larger role without Miller in front of him on the depth chart. |

The Houston Texans have declared WR Keke Coutee, DL Joel Heath, CB Johnathan Joseph, DT Brandon Dunn, LB Josh Keyes, OT Roderick Johnson and RB D'Onta Foreman inactive for Week 17.

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman posted seven runs for minus-1 yard in Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he stepped up with two receptions, 28 yards and a touchdown.
Footballguys view: Foreman should get the most touches of any Texans running back next week if Lamar Miller can't go, but the running game is in a ditch on the side of the road. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') 'could' see his first action of the season in Week 16 versus the Philadelphia Eagles, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.
Footballguys view: Foreman is a grinder who can wear down a defense. If active, Foreman would be worked into the mix behind starter Lamar Miller. Reports indicate that Miller's ankle injury is not serious. Foreman might get some short-yardage or goal-line work due to his size and powerful running style. |

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman will likely be inactive against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 7, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.
Footballguys view: Foreman isn't going to take a lot of work away from Lamar Miller at this point, but it's a good sign for his recovery that he's back on the field, and hopefully we'll get to see him take a few touches before the end of the season to evaluate how close to his pre-injury self he is, as there's no good case of a running back getting all the way back from an achilles injury. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 6.
Footballguys view: Foreman won't be ready to play this week and Lamar Miller has been playing too well to take off of the field, but seeing him play even a few snaps would be great for Foreman's dynasty stock. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Footballguys view: Foreman is back this week after being designated to return but there's no guarantee he'll be active for the game in Week 14. When he's back and not a healthy scratch on gameday, Foreman will push Alfred Blue for backup touches behind Lamar Miller. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') was activated to the active roster from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, Dec. 4. CB Natrell Jamerson was waived in a corresponding move.
Footballguys view: The Texans had until Wednesday to make a decision on Foreman and they decided to activate him. Foreman will have to compete with Alfred Blue to be the backup to Lamar Miller. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') has yet to be activated to the 53-man roster, as head coach Bill O'Brien remains unsure if he will make such a move.
Footballguys view: Foreman is an intriguing prospect the team could ease into action behind starter Lamar Miller. He would give them some more power at the position and could work as a 'closer' late in games when they have the lead. The Texans have until Wednesday to make a decision on the young runner. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') is doing better but is 'not all the way back yet,' according to head coach Bill O'Brien.
Footballguys view: Foreman has spent the entire season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, and the team has until Dec. 6 to activate him or place him on season-ending Injured Reserve. If active, Foreman could potentially cut into the touches for Lamar Miller. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien suggested that RB D'Onta Foreman's (Achilles') return to game action is still up in the air. O'Brien pointed out that Foreman had not 'done anything on a football field' or faced contact since tearing his Achilles' nearly a year ago. He also mentioned that he'd have to 'really look at what he's been able to do relative to what he did last year.'
Footballguys view: The Texans have a couple of weeks to make a decision on Foreman's status. If he's active, Foreman would push Lamar Miller for playing time in the Texans backfield. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') will practice Wednesday, Nov. 14, which will open his 21-day window to possibly return from the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Footballguys view: During the next week or so, the Texans should work diligently to get Foreman back into game shape. If healthy and activated, Foreman would replace Alfred Blue as the primary backup to Lamar Miller. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') is 'trending upwards,' but the team is still unsure when it plans to activate him off the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Footballguys view: As soon as he starts practicing again, the Texans will have a three-week window to decide whether or not to activate him. The power back could help the Texans offense, but Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue are getting the job done (for the most part) now. There's no need to rush Foreman back, and he'd be a deep bench stash only if he does get on the field in 2018. |

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') is closer to making a return to practice but remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.
Footballguys view: It doesn't sound like Foreman is going to get back to 2017 form this year and he's not a threat to Lamar Miller's value. If you've been sitting on him hoping for a return, it's probably not worth holding him. |
D'Onta Foreman player page

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') is not expected to be activated in Week 7 to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') has reportedly done well in his rehab and is 'on track' to be back in a couple of weeks, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, Sept. 1. He will miss the first six weeks of the 2018 regular season.
Footballguys view: That was expected and now Foreman has more time to heal. After the six week absence, the Texans will have three weeks to decide whether or not to activate Foreman or put him on season ending Injured Reserve. When Foreman returns to the lineup, he'll cut into the playing time of Lamar Miller. |
