Buccaneers | Tampa picks up victory in Week 17    Sun Jan 3, 04:43 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady went 26-for-41 for 399 yards, four touchdowns and one interception against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17. RB Ronald Jones rushed for 78 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries during the game. Footballguys view: Godwin and Brown showed the potential for receivers in this offense when the production isn't split three ways. The Bucs will travel to Washington or East Rutherford next week, and probably without Evans.

Buccaneers | Antonio Brown reinstated    Tue Nov 3, 04:16 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown was activated from the Reserve/Suspended list Tuesday, Nov. 3. WR Cyril Grayson was released to make room for him on the roster.

Footballguys view: Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said Brown will be "ready to go" for Week 9 against the Saints. In his debut, we should see the Bucs have a package for the veteran receiver. His success in that package will determine his playing time in his first contest with his new team. Fantasy GMs should look at Brown as a 'what the heck' flex with upside in his debut with Tampa Bay in Week 9.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown will have an offensive package worked into the game plan for him in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints, but head coach Bruce Arians suggested Brown's involvement could be as little as 10 plays.

Footballguys view: The Buccaneers are reportedly going to have a package of plays for Brown. His success within that package will determine his playing time in Week 9. Fantasy GMs should look at Brown as a WR4/deep flex play.

Buccaneers | Antonio Brown deal becoming official    Mon Oct 26, 09:34 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown's deal is likely to be official Monday, Oct. 26, and he'll clear COVID-19 protocol later in the week. Due to his suspension, he can enter the team's facility, but he can't practice.

Footballguys view: Brown with the Buccaneers just seems like an unfair advantage. They're already stacked at the wide receiver position with guys like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Even Scott Miller is playing well, so that makes Brown a luxury addition and great insurance at the position in case someone is (more) banged up. Brown is an interesting flex play with upside in this high-powered offense.

Buccaneers | Antonio Brown deal details    Sat Oct 24, 01:27 PM

Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown is receiving a one-year contract from the team which will pay him slightly above the league minimum, per source. Brown's deal also includes a variety of individual and team incentives. More precise financial details are still unavailable.

Footballguys view: We're excited to see Brown out there with his new team. He's got a great relationship with QB Tom Brady and gives the Buccaneers yet another weapon in the passing game. Brown may be third in the pecking order behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin when both are full strength. However, both Evans and Godwin have fought with/through injuries this year which makes Brown great veteran insurance for the team. Fantasy GMs can at least expect Brown to be flex worthy when he's up to speed in the offense.

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is scheduled to meet with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, Oct. 24, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Footballguys view: At least one beat writer reports that the deal is "99% done". If Brown joins Tampa, he'll help Tom Brady's value, but hurt the weekly ceiling and floor of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

Seahawks | Seattle expected to pursue Antonio Brown    Wed Oct 21, 04:10 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is expected to receive interest from the Seattle Seahawks in the upcoming weeks, according to sources.

Footballguys view: The Seahawks have to pass early and often due to their struggling defense. Adding Brown would be a boost and he has worked with QB Russell Wilson during the offseason. Brown's suspension will end after Week 8, and he is receiving interest from other teams.

NFL | Antonio Brown does not plan to appeal    Fri Jul 31, 04:13 PM

Updating previous reports, free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) has accepted his eight-game suspension and is not expected to appeal the suspension, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Brown just wants to play in the NFL. We'll see if he can not be disruptive in any manner if/when a new team picks him up. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has been pushing for the team to add Brown. The Seahawks could also have interest as Brown has caught passes from QB Russell Wilson this offseason.

NFL | Antonio Brown suspension starts Week 1    Fri Jul 31, 02:59 PM

Updating a previous report, free agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) begins his eight-game disciplinary suspension in Week 1 of the 2020 season, regardless if he has signed with a team or not, per a league source.

Footballguys view: More clarity on the Brown situation. A team like the Ravens or the Seahawks might be interested in signing Brown to get him into training camp. Once the regular season begins, Brown would have to stay away from the team facility. Getting him signed in the near future would give him about a month to prepare with his new team before serving the 8-game suspension.

NFL | Antonio Brown would face 8-game ban    Fri Jul 31, 02:52 PM

Free agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) would have to serve an eight-game suspension for violations of the league's personal-conduct policy if and when he does sign with a new team, a league source said Friday, July 31.

Footballguys view: This gives us some clarity in the situation. Brown has interest from teams out there, and perhaps a team like the Seahawks or the Ravens would take a chance on him. If that happens, Brown would have to miss half of the regular season. We'll see if this prompts some team to sign him so he can go to training camp before serving his 8-game suspension. Stay tuned.

Ravens | Baltimore not ruling out Antonio Brown    Thu Jul 30, 02:18 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is a player the Baltimore Ravens are willing to consider, but he is dealing with off-field issues at this point, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: The league has to make a decision on Browns availability. Once the legal stuff is dealt with and the league says he can play, Brown should latch on with a team quickly. He's caught passes from QB Lamar Jackson this offseason and the superstar quarterback has pushed for Brown to be added. We'll see if the Ravens get the deal done...if/when Brown is cleared to play.

Ravens | Lamar Jackson wants Antonio Brown on team    Wed Jul 29, 03:26 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) worked out with Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson this offseason, and Jackson said he still hopes the Ravens sign Brown.

Footballguys view: Brown is waiting for the league to make a decision on his playing status. He vacillates between wanting to play and retiring seemingly every week or so. We think Brown plays, perhaps for the Ravens (or Seahawks), once the league gives the green light.

NFL | Antonio Brown actually not done    Thu Jul 23, 10:26 AM

Updating previous reports, free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) posted on Instagram that he doesn't want to retire and called on the NFL to finish its personal conduct investigations. 'I have complied with each and every ask of your investigations throughout the past 11 months,' Brown wrote. 'You have had access to all of my phones, you know what the deal is in each and every situation that the media has distorted. I have been seeing the therapist you asked me to, I have worked on all aspects of my life this past year and have become a better man because of it.'

Footballguys view: He just can't walk away, and his latest retirement (at least the third time he's done that this calendar year) didn't last long. When the NFL makes a decision on his legal issues then Brown should be back in the league. We expect teams like the Seahawks, Buccaneers and Washington to potentially show interest.

NFL | Antonio Brown done playing?    Mon Jul 20, 04:08 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) indicated on Twitter that he is done playing professional football.

Footballguys view: This isn't the first time Brown has postured as if he was going to retire. One report by Jeremy Fowler indicated that Brown is bringing up retirement because he was close to settling the Britney Taylor case, which is what happened last year. His status as a late round flier is looking shakier as Brown's instability is resurfacing.

Seahawks | Seattle not close to deal with Antonio Brown    Fri Jul 17, 03:14 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) received some interest from the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason, but the two sides are not close to a contract agreement because of his off-field issues, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The league hasn't settled on a suspension or otherwise resolved Brown's status with the league in light of off-field incidents, so that could be the holdup in coming to an agreement. The Seahawks remain one of the most likely if not the most likely team to sign Brown.

Patriots | NE reaches settlement with Antonio Brown    Sat Jul 11, 03:36 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) reached a settlement with the New England Patriots regarding the compensation grievance Brown filed against the team.

Footballguys view: The team will get four million dollars back from Brown and 2.55 million back from Aaron Hernandez's estate to put them at 7.79 million dollars in cap room. It's possible that they could make a move with the newfound flexibility.

Seahawks | Antonio Brown interested in Seattle    Thu Jul 2, 07:28 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is interested in signing with the Seattle Seahawks, and it is believed that QB Russell Wilson would like the Seahawks to sign Brown.

Footballguys view: There's no doubt that this would hurt the outlook of Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, but you might argue that they have been vastly undervalued anyway and will still be worth targeting if their ADP drops after the Seahawks add Brown. Anyone with Russell Wilson on their fantasy team should be very excited about this prospect. Brown could be suspended at the beginning of the season for his off-field troubles, but chances are it won't be more than 2-4 games.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay not interested in Antonio Brown    Tue Jun 30, 03:08 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is not drawing any interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to sources Tuesday, June 30.

Footballguys view: Many were assuming that with QB Tom Brady in Tampa then the team would consider adding Brown. That doesn't seem to be the case at this time. There seems to be interest in Brown around the league but we'll see what the league decides about his pending legal situations. Brown is likely to land with a new team and get another (final?) chance in the NFL sometime before training camp.

NFL | Antonio Brown drawing interest from Seahawks, Ravens    Tue Jun 23, 03:06 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is drawing interest from the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens, who've both had internal discussions about signing the receiver.

Footballguys view: The writing is on the wall that Brown is going to playing again as soon as the league is ready to decide whether he will be suspended and for how long. Brown's speculative value in dynasty and redraft leagues is about to go up, and perhaps Russell Wilson's with it.

NFL | Antonio Brown avoids jail after plea deal    Fri Jun 12, 04:45 PM

Updating previous reports, free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) pleaded no contest Friday, Jun 12, to charges related to felony battery of a moving-truck driver in January. Brown will avoid jail upon completing two years of probation, 100 hours of community service, and a mandatory psychological evaluation.

Footballguys view: Brown still has a civil sexual assault suit going forward to resolve, and it's likely the league and all teams won't move forward with reinstating or signing him until that is settled. It's very possible Brown never plays in the NFL again, but he probably can play at a high level if he does, so he's worth rostering in dynasty leagues and drafting late in best ball leagues if your philosophy of fantasy football doesn't preclude rostering players with off-field troubles like his.

Redskins | Ron Rivera addresses signing Antonio Brown    Thu Jun 11, 03:12 PM

Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera was asked about signing free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) during a Wednesday, June 10, Zoom call. 'If you bring in a veteran right now, you're going to stunt the growth of somebody young,' Rivera said. 'We've got some young guys at wide receiver that have shown potential over the last season and now into the offseason. We haven't really had the chance to watch them. I know who Antonio Brown is, I know he's a great player. He's an impact guy,' Rivera added. 'He's also a veteran guy, and we've got some young guys that we need to find out about. Again, that's kind of the approach, we want to see what we have.'

Footballguys view: Brown wants back into the league and he may find more interest when training camp opens up. On the field, Brown could still make plays as a receiver. Off the field, Brown has problems and would be a distraction unless his behavior changes.

NFL | Antonio Brown is working with Deion Sanders    Mon Jun 1, 01:00 PM

Updating previous reports, free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is working out with NFL Hall of Fame CB Deion Sanders. 'My son came to town to WORK! On his Game,on his Life,On his Thoughts,on his Tomorrow & on ANTONIO BROWN!' Sanders wrote on Instagram. 'I Love him to life and I can't wait to witness this comeback Story called A,B & See. I know what I know and I pray u all get to see what I know to be true about ANTONIO BROWN. God bless all y'all and please have a productive peaceful day we are Growing & Going !'

Footballguys view: Brown is trying to get back into the league, and we'll see if any team wants to take a chance on him. His physical talent is still great and he could be productive in the league to this day. However, off-field incidents and antics have become his calling card as of late and that is keeping teams away.

Seahawks | Russell Wilson wants to add Antonio Brown    Fri May 22, 05:15 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is a player that Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson wants the Seahawks to sign this offseason, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Brown has the skill to be playing in the league but off field issues have caused him to burn multiple bridges. Seattle has Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf as the top two targets but things are a bit thin after that. Phillip Dorsett is currently set to be the no.3 receiver, and Brown (if motivated) would be a huge upgrade.

Buccaneers | Antonio Brown not a fit for Bucs    Thu Mar 26, 07:35 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) won't be signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to head coach Bruce Arians Thursday, March 26. 'There's no room and probably not enough money,' Arians said. 'It's just not going to happen here. It's not a fit here.'

Footballguys view: Arians is creating a culture with the Bucs that does not include the troubled wide receiver. Some felt with Tom Brady at quarterback the Bucs would add Brown but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) could be an option for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to sources. Rival suitors for free-agent QB Tom Brady were under the impression he wanted Brown to come with him.

Footballguys view: People think that Brown and Brady are a package deal but that may not be the case. We've heard the Buccaneers are not done and they will be adding more big-name talent to put around their new superstar quarterback.

NFL | Tom Brady, Antonio Brown a package deal?    Mon Mar 2, 02:47 PM

Impending free-agent QB Tom Brady (Patriots) has reportedly remained in 'consistent contact' with free-agent WR Antonio Brown and told him to 'keep mentally and physically strong' so the duo can reunite on the field at Brady's next stop, according to two people close to Brown.

Footballguys view: That would be a problem if the Raiders really want Brady based on how Brown's time with the team ended prematurely. The report is coming from people close to Brown, not to Brady, so take this with a grain of salt. The Patriots have interest in keeping Brady and we'll be monitoring this closely as free agency approaches in a couple of weeks.

Footballguys view: Brown is trying to find a way back into the NFL. This is a good PR move for him in addition to being what he genuinely feels at this time. Brown's future in the NFL is murky at best and the league could decide on suspending him (or not suspending him) at some point this offseason.

NFL | Antonio Brown optimistic about future    Tue Jan 28, 04:49 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) said he is optimistic about playing in the NFL again.

Footballguys view: Brown has a lot to take care of before he can truly begin thinking about playing in the NFL again. His $100k bail remains in place after his arrest last week on charges of burglary with battery, burglary of an occupied conveyance and criminal mischief. NFL teams are not going to touch Brown until his legal problems are behind him...and even then it might be a long-shot for Brown to ever play in the league again.

NFL | Antonio Brown expected to turn himself in    Thu Jan 23, 07:54 PM

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Patriots) is expected to turn himself in to police but hadn't done so as of the afternoon of Thursday, Jan. 23, according to a public information officer for the Hollywood Police Department in Florida. 'I believe they've given him ample opportunity to turn himself in,'' Christian Lata told USA TODAY Sports. An arrest warrant was issued against Brown following an incident with a moving truck driver Tuesday, Jan. 21. 'I'm sure it's going to be within today or tomorrow, but I'm not sure exactly when,'' Lata said late Thursday afternoon. 'I would assume it would be sooner than later.''

Footballguys view: Brown has to surrender his passport, wear a GPS monitor, and undergo a mental health evaluation. Hopefully this will be the end of his downward slide. Whether he plays in the 2020 season is a small concern right now.
