Panthers | Curtis Samuel catches six passes    Sun Oct 25, 04:44 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel caught six passes for 48 yards against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. He was targeted six times during the game.

Footballguys view: Samuel also scored as a runner on a classic goal to go handoff, so his value is on the rise. He had a big third down conversion to set up a field goal, but otherwise was used in the short passing game. Samuel will be a good what the heck flex against the Falcons on Thursday.

Panthers | Carolina's injury report for Week 6    Fri Oct 16, 03:31 PM

Carolina Panthers CB Donte Jackson (toe), DT Zachariah Kerr (toe) and WR Curtis Samuel (knee) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable for Week 6 versus the Chicago Bears. CB Eli Apple (hamstring) practiced in full for a second straight day Friday, Oct. 16, and is also listed as questionable. DE Brian Burns (concussion) and WR Pharoh Cooper (neck) practiced in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report. OG Michael Schofield (non-injury) was not given a practice designations Friday but is expected to play.

Footballguys view: Jackson has a tough assignment with Allen Robinson and the Bears up this week, so it's not a good thing to see him at less than 100%. Teddy Bridgewater had said that the team wants to get Samuel more involved, but seeing him on the injury report reduces some of the optimism around him.

Panthers | Carolina's injury report for Week 4    Fri Oct 2, 02:17 PM

DT Derrick Brown (non-injury) was not given a practice designation for a second straight day Friday but is also expected to play.

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (elbow) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Footballguys view: Samuel is part of the team's plan to replace RB Christian McCaffrey. He can be used as a runner and receiver for the Panthers. Expect Samuel to get around 5-7 touches per game. He's a TD dependent 'what the heck' flex.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel practices in full    Wed Sep 30, 02:58 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (elbow) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Footballguys view: Samuel is getting more work without RB Christian McCaffrey on the field. Mike Davis is the lead back and Samuel gets some carries here and there when he needs a breather. Samuel is further down in the pecking order at receiver. He's a versatile player who can be used as a runner or receiver, but Samuel's fantasy value is only in the 'what the heck' flex range.

Panthers | OC wants Curtis Samuel more involved    Thu Sep 24, 06:50 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel is expected to be more involved because 'good things happen when the ball is in his hands,' according to offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

Footballguys view: Samuel could get some more touches out of the backfield to help replace Christian McCaffrey in addition to the short receptions as a wide receiver that set him up for run after catch opportunities. Check and see if he was dropped by an impatient fantasy GM.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel totals six touches    Sun Sep 20, 06:38 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel rushed four times for 26 yards in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he added two receptions for 13 yards on his only two targets.

Footballguys view: Samuel appears to be the odd man out in the Panthers passing game with Robby Anderson and DJ Moore both getting enough targets to equal many teams #1 receiver. He's not worth carrying in typical leagues.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel having disappointing camp    Tue Sep 1, 02:40 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel reportedly played well in the team's first practice without pads, but he has 'not been impressive' since then, according to Jonathan Alexander of the Charlotte Observer. Per Alexander, part of Samuel's struggles can be attributed to a minor hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: Samuel is a player who can line up in a variety of spots on the field. The team needs to find a way to use him correctly, and Samuel needs to get healthy and stay healthy. He is more of a 'what the heck' flex if he's playing well in the Panthers offense.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel dealing with injury    Fri Aug 21, 07:12 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (hamstring) is dealing with a tight hamstring, according to head coach Matt Rhule.

Footballguys view: It doesn't sound like this is a serious issue, but any time a speedy receiver is affected by a hamstring injury, it is something worth monitoring, because if they can't open the throttle all the way, they aren't as effective, and they also run a risk of re-injury when they try to get back to full speed.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel to be used in space    Fri Jun 19, 09:29 AM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel is expected to be used in space all around the field, according to offensive coordinator Joe Brady. 'Curtis is going to be critical to success,' Brady said. 'Curtis is the one that I can't wait to see him do what he does on the field. Curtis is a playmaker. He fits the mold of what we're looking for in this type of offense, a guy that you can utilize all around the field and get the ball in the hands and good things happen. I think you saw stuff last year that shows that he can be a big-play wide receiver, down the field. We're getting the ball in space and I'm excited for him to take the next leap.'

Footballguys view: Samuel played much, much better than his stats indicate last year. If Teddy Bridgewater can find and hit him deep more often, or if Brady makes more use of Samuel than Scott Turner did last year, Samuel will be a huge value at his very low ADP.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel still drawing interest    Fri Apr 24, 12:09 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel continues to draw interest from teams pursing a trade. The Panthers haven't been interested so far, but they could if they receive an offer they can't refuse over the next few days.

Footballguys view: Samuel is likely to find a new home if the Panthers can find the right offer. He's a threat after the catch and can turn short catches into long gains. The Panthers added WR Robby Anderson in free agency and D.J. Moore continues to get better and better. Samuel needs a fresh start with a new team where he could actually see the field more.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel not expected to be moved    Mon Mar 30, 04:07 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel is not on the trade block and likely will not be moved this offseason, according to The Athletic's Joseph Person.

Footballguys view: There was some speculation that Samuel could be on the move via trade. With the addition of Robby Anderson in free agency, the Panthers seem to have a new No.1 receiver. We think Samuel could be a fine fit with new starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Samuel is super quick and dangerous after the catch on short passes.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel a trade candidate?    Sat Mar 28, 01:23 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel is a potential candidate to be traded, according to a list put out by Spotrac.com.

Footballguys view: The Panthers have added Robby Anderson and Seth Roberts to the mix at the wide receiver position. Anderson should be the top target on offense not named Christian McCaffrey. That makes Samuel a player who the team could move on from. A former second-round pick, Samuel is dangerous after the catch and could draw some interest if he was on the trade block.

Panthers | Week 17 final stats for Panthers    Sun Dec 29, 04:32 PM

Carolina Panthers QB Kyle Allen completed 25-of-41 passes for 295 yards, no touchdowns and one interception, while RB Christian McCaffrey rushed nine times for 26 yards and a touchdown while adding seven grabs for 72 yards on 10 targets. He became the third player in NFL history to post 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards in a single season. WR Brandon Zylstra stepped up with a team-high 96 receiving yards on six grabs across eight targets. WR Curtis Samuel finished up with two grabs for 13 yards, and TE Greg Olsen was limited to two catches for 12 yards.

Footballguys view: Allen decisively showed he is not the quarterback of the future for this team, but they needed him with rookie Will Grier hurt today. McCaffrey's milestone joins Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk and he'll be a unanimous #1 pick next year. Olsen has a retirement decision this offseason with Ryan Tannehill waiting in the wings.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel totals four touches    Sun Dec 22, 05:07 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel posted two catches for 17 yards in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts while adding two runs for four yards.

Footballguys view: Samuel gutted out a game time decision but wasn't lifted by the installation of Will Grier at quarterback. He could be a 2020 breakout player if a healthy Cam Newton is the Week 1 starter.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel listed as questionable    Fri Dec 20, 03:03 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 20, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Footballguys view: Samuel seems on the doubtful side of questionable. Will Grier carried the promise of better downfield passing than Kyle Allen, but it appears that we won't get to see what Samuel can do with Grier this week. DJ Moore should be guaranteed a huge number of targets and Greg Olsen's outlook gets more positive if Samuel is out.
