Eagles | Jordan Howard signs with PHI    Mon Nov 23, 10:03 AM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Jordan Howard (Dolphins) signed with the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad Monday, Nov. 23.

Footballguys view: Howard is back with the Eagles after failing to impress during his time with the Dolphins. He will try to earn a short-yardage and perhaps goal-line role for the Eagles (best case scenario) behind starter Miles Sanders.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard done in Miami    Mon Nov 16, 02:05 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Jordan Howard was waived Monday, Nov. 16.

Footballguys view: Howard was unimpressive during his time with the Dolphins. He was mainly used as a goal-line back, finishing with 28 carries for 33 yards and four rushing touchdowns. Any team that wants to sign Howard will still have to pay him around $720k of his remaining 2020 salary. Salvon Ahmed will continue as the lead back for the Dolphins as they prepare to face a weak Broncos rush defense in Week 11.

Footballguys view: With Howard out, Matt Breida could play a larger role. Ryan Fitzaptrick and Myles Gaskin could also get a better shot at a rushing score since Howard was the automatic call at the one thus far in the season.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard reaches end zone    Sun Sep 13, 04:27 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Jordan Howard rushed for seven yards and one touchdown on eight carries against the New England Patriots in Week 1.

Footballguys view: Howard just isn't going to find a lot of room to run behind this line or have game scripts to give him high volume. He's droppable heading into a game against Buffalo.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard expected to lead    Tue Aug 11, 12:01 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Jordan Howard is expected to carry the rushing load in 2020, in the opinion of beat writer Cameron Wolfe. Wolfe expects Howard to receive 50 percent of the backfield touches.

Footballguys view: Howard is going to be the banger on the roster. He'll soften up defenses on the whole was a battering ram between the tackles. When it comes to catching the rock out of the backfield, Matt Breida will be the back the Dolphins turn to.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard up in air    Sat Aug 8, 11:41 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Jordan Howard's role is undefined, according to running backs coach Eric Studesville.

Footballguys view: Howard should be the lead back when it comes to carries in 2020. He's a powerful back who can grind down an opponent as the game goes on. Howard should be replaced on passing downs with Matt Breida.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard self-motivated    Sat Jul 25, 12:52 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Jordan Howard is utilizing self motivation as he prepares for training camp and the season with his new team. 'I really don't have anything to prove to anybody, just to myself that I can still be that type of player,' Howard recently told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. '(I) just feel like I'm one of the top backs in the game, even (if) people don't give me respect or credit or anything like that. I'm still out here trying to show what I can do.'

Footballguys view: Howard is a good running back and can carry the load for the Dolphins in 2020. He's going to work in tandem with Matt Breida but it should be Howard that gets the most work as a runner. Howard is not much of a receiver out of the backfield but has flex appeal with his powerful style and ability to work well near pay dirt.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard to be busy?    Fri Jul 3, 11:34 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Jordan Howard could 'come close to doubling' the number of carries RB Matt Breida will receive, according to Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Wolfe is one of the best Dolphins beat writers, so we're certainly paying attention to this report. Howard should be the lead back and by a wide margin when it comes to carries. Breida can work as a change-of-pace back and should be the primary pass-catching back in 2020. His current ADP is RB34 (7.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard likely for goal line work    Mon Jun 29, 11:25 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Jordan Howard is likely the top choice for carries anywhere near the goal line, according to beat writer Joe Schad.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Howard is the big-bodied back who can make his living between the tackles. He can be very effective on short-yardage and goal-line situations. He should be splitting time with Matt Breida in the backfield. Howard has a current ADP of RB35 (7.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Miami expected to use two RBs    Fri May 29, 06:41 PM

Miami Dolphins RBs Jordan Howard and Matt Breida are both expected to receive solid playing time this upcoming season, but it is not known which one will start.

Footballguys view: Howard is the power back who could be used to pick up short-yardage situations. He may also be the favored back when the team is near the end zone. Breida is the big-play back with the ability to hurt a defense as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. We're seeing Breida come off the board at RB36 (8.04) and Howard at RB39 (8.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Miami has eyes on RBs early?    Tue Apr 14, 12:03 PM

Ohio State RB J.K. Dobbins, as an update to previous reports, felt the Miami Dolphins really liked him following his in-person meeting with head coach Brian Flores and general manager Chris Grier in early March. The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson believes the Dolphins are likely to take a running back during the first two days of the NFL Draft, possibly selecting Dobbins or Georgia RB D'Andre Swift at No. 26 overall. Or they may look to select LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor or FSU RB Cam Akers at 39th or 56th overall. Whichever back selected would then be paired with RB Jordan Howard as the team's top-two backs.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins have three first-round picks in the 2020 NFL draft. One of those should be a running back. They added Jordan Howard in free agency earlier this year but he's a two-down thumper. Adding someone like Dobbins gives them a back who can be featured on all three downs.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard completely healthy    Sun Mar 29, 08:52 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) said he is completely recovered from the shoulder injury that bothered him at the end of the 2019 season.

Footballguys view: Howard is going to be the grinder for the Dolphins offense. He can work well as a power option as a two-down back in 2020. His role limits his fantasy value, especially in PPR leagues but Howard should get enough carries (and his touchdowns will help) to be a RB2 or flex option for Fantasy GMs.

Dolphins | Miami officially signs Jordan Howard    Sat Mar 21, 05:36 PM

Free-agent RB Jordan Howard (Eagles) officially signed with the Miami Dolphins Saturday, March 21. Official terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Howard signs as the clear-cut lead back for the Dolphins. He's a two-down thumper who could lead the team in carries this season. Expect the Dolphins to find a change-of-pace back or receiving back in the draft.

Dolphins | Jordan Howard reaches deal with Miami    Tue Mar 17, 02:53 PM

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent RB Jordan Howard is in agreement on a two-year deal worth more than $10 million with the Miami Dolphins, according to a source Tuesday, March 17.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins are the most RB-needy team in the league. Howard is a power back who could be the lead back for the team in 2020. We should see the team also take a look at running backs at some point in the 2020 NFL draft. Howard has a nose for the end zone and some flex appeal for Fantasy GMs even if the team adds another back.

Eagles | Jordan Howard way down pecking order    Fri Dec 27, 11:57 AM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard will be third running back in Week 17 behind RB Miles Sanders and RB Boston Scott.

Footballguys view: Howard will be getting back to game condition now that Miles Sanders has emerged as a more than capable every down back. He could be a more important tactical piece against the Seahawks or 49ers in the wild card game next week if the Eagles can beat the Giants with Howard playing a small role.

Eagles | Jordan Howard expected to return    Mon Dec 23, 05:13 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) is expected to be available for the Week 17 game.

OG Brandon Brooks (calf), DT Fletcher Cox (triceps) and CB Ronald Darby (hip) practiced in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Eagles | No change on Jordan Howard    Wed Dec 18, 12:21 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) still hasn't been cleared for contact Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Footballguys view: Same as it ever was. Howard has been considered day-to-day for about a month and he's not been on the field for the Eagles since Week 9. The Eagles are at home for a huge contest against the Cowboys on Sunday. Miles Sanders will be their lead back and a RB1/RB2 for Fantasy GMs while Boston Scott has plenty of flex appeal as a change-of-pace back behind Sanders.
