Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley rushed for 47 yards on 20 carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. He also caught three passes for 20 yards during the game.

Footballguys view: Gurley had an ideal game script, but couldn't do much with it against the Vikings. The Falcons getting a win is still good for his overall outlook and he's still a solid RB2 against the Lions next week.

C Alex Mack (rest) was not given a practice designation Friday but is also expected to play.

Footballguys view: Jones could play, but last week should show you the risk of playing Jones when he is a true game time decision. Consider him a boom/bust WR3/Flex if he does play vs. Carolina.

Falcons | Todd Gurley gets into the end zone    Sun Sep 27, 06:28 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley rushed 14 times for 80 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears and he added one catch for two yards on two targets.

Footballguys view: Gurley was being outplayed by Brian Hill at one point but had a strong second half to put up decent RB2 numbers. He's probably just a flex play at best heading into a matchup at Green Bay with Hill showing he deserves more playing time.

Falcons | Todd Gurley wows in scrimmage    Tue Sep 1, 09:34 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley was impressive during the scrimmage Friday, Aug. 28, according to head coach Dan Quinn. 'The speed was the thing,' Quinn said. 'He out-ran the leverage on one play. On another one, he got to the edge and made a big play. I felt his speed for certain.'

Falcons | Todd Gurley set to handle big workload    Tue Aug 25, 03:38 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley is expected to see a minimum of 15 touches per game, according to offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.'I think a minimum of 15 touches and a high of (25). But you've got to realize we've got a lot of guys that need touches. You're going to have 64 plays in a game on average on offense. Depending on where you're at in the season and wear and tear, I think the low is 15 and maybe the high end 25,' Koetter told ESPN in a phone interview Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Footballguys view: Gurley is their lead back but what does he have left in the tank? How long will he be able to handle that workload? These are questions that will be answered this year. Gurley has a current ADP of RB19 (3.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Falcons | Todd Gurley having work managed    Sat Aug 22, 02:06 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley (knee) will be limited in practice Saturday, Aug. 22, as part of workload management plan head coach Dan Quinn said. Gurley is expected to return to more work Sunday.

Footballguys view: Nothing new here, but it is yet another reminder that Gurley is dealing with a degenerative knee condition and carries risk of the issue flaring up at any point in the season.

Falcons | Todd Gurley may be limited early    Wed Aug 12, 02:23 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley (knee) may be limited during practice at the start of training camp since he has dealt with a knee injury.

Footballguys view: Gurley is a seasoned veteran who doesn't need a ton of work in training camp. It's just wise for the Falcons to ease him into action as they prepare for the regular season. His current ADP is RB15 (2.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Falcons | Todd Gurley endorsed by OC    Tue Jun 9, 05:19 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley can be argued to be 'the best back in the game,' according to offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter Tuesday, June 9.

Footballguys view: That's a pretty bold claim, but Gurley has been in that echelon before. Can he regain his pre-injury form? That's the largest question for Gurley and the Falcons this year.

Falcons | Todd Gurley passes physical    Tue Jun 9, 09:18 AM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley flew to Atlanta and passed his physical Monday, June 8.

Footballguys view: Gurley could be a steal for the Falcons if he's able to recapture his old form. He's the lead back for the Falcons in 2020 but Ito Smith is going to get some work behind him. There's RB2 value there for Gurley with upside this season.

Falcons | Todd Gurley impressing QB    Fri Jun 5, 09:27 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley is going to be an 'awesome fit' for the offense, QB Matt Ryan said after working out with the running back.

Footballguys view: If Gurley can get back to the player he used to be, then the Falcons got a steal with a one-year, $5 million contract for the veteran runner. We'll be cautiously optimistic and realize that Ryan is hyping him up a bit here with this quote. The Falcons are known to use multiple backs, and we could see more from Ito Smith than some think. Gurley is likely to be the lead back and should be an RB2 for Fantasy GMs in 2020. His current ADP is RB16 (3.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

  Falcons | Wait-and-see with Todd Gurley's health    Thu May 14, 01:03 PM

Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter said RB Todd Gurley played in a similar offensive system with the Los Angeles Rams and feels that's fortunate. With a similar terminology and concept base, it could help Gurley hit the ground running faster with his new team. 'He can do everything. He's an excellent running back. He can protect. The main question is that no one seems know is, what's his health status? What's his workload?' Koetter said.

Footballguys view: The team took a chance on the former Georgia Bulldogs superstar. If healthy, Gurley can be one of the best running backs in the league. He may not be the same player he used to be but Gurley can still be an effective lead back. Koetter added the team will just have to wait until they can work with Gurley to see where he's at physically. Gurley has a current ADP of RB27 (6.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Falcons | Todd Gurley: No injury concerns    Fri Apr 10, 01:49 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley on Friday, April 10, said in a media conference call that he no concern about the knee issues that appeared to have hampered his production the past 18 months, stating 'I know I'm still that guy' who won the 2017 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award. 'Nothing is (given),' Gurley added. 'I don't care if you have 10 Pro Bowls or one Pro Bowl. You got to go in and work, that's just how the game goes. Obviously, I'll be able to come in and help those guys out but like I said [I'm going to] play my role, it's whatever the team need me to do at the end of the day. I know what I bring to the table, (I'm going to) come in, (I'm going to) work hard and help out the running back and they're going to help me out as well.'

Footballguys view: There are injury concerns and that's why he got a one-year, 'prove it' deal from the Falcons. The team should limit his workload to help keep him healthy for the 2020 season.

Falcons | Load management for Todd Gurley?    Fri Apr 10, 12:16 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley talked with the media Friday, April 10, via conference call. 'The way life is going right now, everybody is on load management,' Gurley said, adding that he is planning on discussing the team's usage intentions for him this offseason.

Footballguys view: Managing Gurley's workload just makes sense. He needs to stay healthy and produce as the lead back, but that doesn't mean he'll get the large workload he used to with the Rams. Expect the Falcons to add a running back in the 2020 NFL draft who could help share touches in the backfield this season.

Falcons | Todd Gurley's deal official    Fri Apr 10, 08:05 AM

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley passed his physical Thursday, April 9, and his deal is official.

Footballguys view: Gurley is back in Georgia where he was a college superstar for the Bulldogs. We do not expect him to have a full bounce-back season, but Gurley could be a solid starter for the Falcons if he stays healthy. Gurley may never be the player he once was, and the Falcons are likely to manage his workload in order to keep him healthy for the duration of the 2020 season.

Falcons | Todd Gurley still awaiting physical    Tue Apr 7, 03:10 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley (knee) has yet to take or pass his physical, according to general manager Thomas Dimitroff Tuesday, April 7.

Falcons | Atlanta officially adds Todd Gurley    Mon Apr 6, 05:11 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Todd Gurley (Rams) officially signed with the Atlanta Falcons Monday, April 6. Official terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Gurley gets a one-year, 'prove it' deal to return to Georgia where he was a college superstar. If healthy, Gurley could have a bounce-back season with this fresh start. If not healthy, the team didn't make any sort of long-term investment.

Falcons | Todd Gurley's hands betrayed him in 2019    Sun Mar 29, 05:30 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley was charged with the dropped pass on a league-high 14.3 percent of his targets in 2019 as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Denver Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay (12.5) and Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (11.1) were the only other qualified running backs with a drop rate of higher than nine percent.

Footballguys view: Gurley got a one-year, 'prove it' deal with the Falcons. It would be great for him and the team if he could be more reliable as a target out of the backfield in 2020.

Falcons | Todd Gurley limited after contact in 2019    Wed Mar 25, 11:43 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley was able to break a tackle once every 10.6 carries in 2019 with the Los Angeles Rams - significantly better than his 15.1 average in 2018 - but he managed just 374 rushing yards after contact (average of 1.7) after accumulating 617 yards (2.4) after contact the previous season.

Footballguys view: Gurley hasn't been right health wise in a couple of years. If he can regain his form, then the Falcons got one helluva player on a 'prove it' deal. We are hoping that happens but remain cautious about his projections for the 2020 season.

Free-agent RB Todd Gurley (Rams) agreed to a one-year deal, pending a physical, with the Atlanta Falcons Friday, March 20. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: Gurley goes back to Georgia where he was a superstar in college for the Bulldogs. The Falcons released Devonta Freeman a while ago and were looking for a No.1 running back. That's going to be Gurley leading the charge this season, and Fantasy GMs can look at him as a RB2 with upside now that he's got a fresh start. Gurley just needs to stay healthy in order to play up to his still-high potential.

Rams | Todd Gurley released    Thu Mar 19, 04:09 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley was released Thursday, March 19.

Footballguys view: It's the end of an era with the Rams. He was not himself over the last year and a half or so as knee problems and ankle problems plagued his game. Gurley was due a roster bonus around $10 million on Thursday and the team couldn't trade him away. Now free to sign anywhere, Gurley should have no shortage of interest.

Rams | Todd Gurley on the move soon?    Mon Mar 16, 03:50 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley's name has reportedly come up multiple times in trade talks, according to NFL Network's Michael Silver.

Footballguys view: Gurley's contract is going to give team's pause when considering him in a trade. He's got a $17.2 million cap hit in 2020 and there is still $12.6 million remaining in dead money. We'll see if somehow they can pull off this deal (if they want to). The Cardinals were able to move David Johnson's contract on Monday so there is hope if the Rams want to get rid of Gurley.

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley is scheduled to meet with the team in the near future to talk about his season and his situation moving forward.

Footballguys view: There has been speculation that Gurley could be put on the trade block this offseason. He carries a cap hit of $17.2 million in 2020 and there is a whopping $12.6 million remaining in dead money. That means the team is unlikely to cut him but in the NFL you just never know.
