Buccaneers | Cameron Brate receives clearance    Fri Jul 19, 08:40 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip) said he has been medically cleared and will be 100 percent for training camp.

Footballguys view: Brate underwent athroscopic surgery back in January and the plan was for him to be ready by camp. It looks like all things are on course. Brate will work as a backup tight end behind O.J. Howard in 2019.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate in line for 60 targets as TE2    Wed Jul 17, 10:00 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate could see 60 targets in 2019 while working as the backup to starter O.J. Howard, according to Taylor Jenkins of PewterReport.com.

Footballguys view: The last time Brate got over 60 targets, he finished as the no. 8 fantasy tight end in standard-scoring leagues. That was in 2017 when he was targeted 77 times, caught 48 passes for 591 yards and six touchdowns. Fantasy GMs should consider Brate a TE3 in 2019.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate on track for camp    Tue May 21, 12:47 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip) said Tuesday, May 21, he's rehabbing on schedule as he recovers from hip surgery earlier this offseason and is on course to be ready for training camp in late July.

Footballguys view: Brate had surgery back in January but was cleared for all football activities in April. The team will make sure to ease him back into action during training camp. When healthy, Brate will compete for time/snaps/targets behind O.J. Howard.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate's recovery going well    Fri Apr 19, 01:45 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip) says he is back running and catching passes without pain after undergoing surgery to repair a torn hip labrum earlier this offseason.

Footballguys view: Brate said the injury originally occurred in 2017, but he decided to play though the pain in the 2018 season instead of cutting his campaign short to have surgery.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate likely to stick around    Wed Feb 27, 12:46 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate is expected to remain on the roster in 2019 despite being the ninth-highest paid player on the roster with a $7 million base salary, according to Pewter Report's Scott Reynolds, who adds the team has no plans to trade or release him. Brate is also not expected to take a pay cut, as Reynolds reports general manager Jason Licht is 'not a believer in reducing players' salaries because it can reduce some players' incentive to perform up to their abilities.'

Footballguys view: Brate is a favorite target of QB Jameis Winston and the Bucs are giving it one more go with Winston as their starter. Brate should continue to split time with O.J. Howard, thus limiting his fantasy value.

Broncos | Denver in the tight end market?    Thu Feb 21, 10:15 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph and Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate could be options for the Denver Broncos if they are cap casualties this offseason, according to Bill Barnwell, and Barnwell also believes the Broncos could target a tight end with an early pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: The Broncos need all the help they can get. They haven't had an impact tight end since the days of Julius Thomas. Last year's leading tight end for the Broncos, Jeff Heuerman, is likely to leave via free agency.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate had surgery    Fri Jan 18, 09:20 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip) had arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip, according to a source, and Brate is hoping to return for minicamp in June.

Footballguys view: Brate played through this injury for most of the 2018 season where he finished with 30 catches for 289 yards and six touchdowns (in 16 games). Those were lower numbers than he posted each of the last two years. Fantasy GMs should be expecting that trend to continue for Brate in Bruce Arians offense where the tight end (especially the no.2 tight end) isn't used that much.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate dealing with injury    Fri Dec 28, 10:48 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (undisclosed) has been dealing with an injury since the start of the season that has contributed to his dip in performance, according to head coach Dirk Koetter. 'There will probably be more information on that after the season is over,' Koetter said. 'But I think Cam, when he gets healthy again, will return to form very quickly.'

Footballguys view: Brate's stats have taken a dip from the strong numbers he posted in 2017. His yards per catch has dropped from 12.3 in 2017 to only 8.9 in 2018. Last season Brate finished as a top-10 fantasy tight end in standard-scoring leagues, while this season he's on track to finish as a low-end TE2. He is signed through the 2023 season but has a $7 million cap hit in 2018 with zero remaining in dead money.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate scores two times    Sun Dec 9, 08:03 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate had just two catches for 12 yards in Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints, but both were good for touchdowns.

Footballguys view: Winston to Brate has been money in the red zone at times before and it was again today. Winston played poorly in the second half, so we still don't have a great feeling about Brate against the Ravens next week.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate reaches end zone    Sun Nov 25, 06:15 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate caught three passes for 26 yards and one touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12.

Footballguys view: Brate wasn't huge but he scored the first touchdown and should merit low TE1 consideration going forward with OJ Howard on injured reserve and Jameis Winston throwing well. The Panthers are a good matchup for him next week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate agreed to a six-year contract extension with the Buccaneers Monday, March 12, worth $41 million, according to a source. The deal includes $18 million in guaranteed money.

Footballguys view: It's an interesting move by the Bucs considering they spent a first-round pick on O.J. Howard in last year's draft. Brate is a TD hog with 14 touchdown catches over the last two seasons. He's clearly one of QB Jameis Winston's favorite targets.

Buccaneers | Week 17 game recap for Buccaneers     Sun Dec 31, 09:43 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston completed 28 of his 51 passes for 363 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions in a 31-24 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 17, and he added five carries for 32 yards and a score. RB Peyton Barber rushed 17 times for 71 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 18 yards. WR Chris Godwin had seven catches for 111 yards and a touchdown, Adam Humphries caught seven passes for 102 yards, and WR Mike Evans finished with five catches for 55 yards. TE Cameron Brate caught three passes for 37 yards.

Footballguys view: Godwin's role should grow next year and Barber could play a big role with Dirk Koetter returning next year. The Bucs were disappointing this year, but the offense got stronger after Winston returned from his shoulder injury.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip, knee) practiced in full on Friday, Dec. 29, and he is listed as questionable for Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints.

Footballguys view: Brate was the team's primary tight end last week with OJ Howard out, but he didn't produce against the Panthers. He'll be a desperation play against the Saints in Week 17.

Buccaneers | Limited practice for Cameron Brate    Thu Dec 28, 07:23 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip, knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Footballguys view: With OJ Howard out, Brate might get a tad more run, but we aren't willing to bet much on it. He's a low-end TE2 this week against New Orleans and we'd imagine he's trade bait this offseason.
