Browns | Odell Beckham Jr. gets surgery done Tuesday    Tue Nov 10, 04:47 PM

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) underwent surgery to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Footballguys view: Beckham could be ready for Week 1 of the 2021 season...but who knows whether or not he'll still be with the Browns. The veteran wide receiver can be traded or released with no dead money next spring. We'll see if some team out there works a trade with the Browns for Beckham in the future.

He's under contract with the Browns through the 2023 season but his status for training camp next year is up in the air. We'll have to watch his recovery this upcoming offseason before we can project whether or not he'll be ready for the start of the 2021 regular season.

Footballguys view: A big loss for the Browns offense. Beckham is under contract through the 2023 season and the team now moves forward without him. They'll turn to Rashard Higgins to do more in his absence. We could also see more tight end usage and more targets for Jarvis Landry for the rest of the 2020 season.

Browns | Odell Beckham feared to have major injury    Sun Oct 25, 05:25 PM

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) is feared to have suffered a major knee injury in the Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, a source said Sunday, Oct. 25. He is scheduled for an MRI on Monday, Oct. 26.

Footballguys view: These almost never end with good news. Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones made the most of their extra playing time today and Baker Mayfield had his best game of the season. The Browns are contenders with a tough game against the Raiders up next, but they are likely to make the rest of the 2020 journey without Beckham.

Footballguys view: Beckham had his best game as a Brown, and his long run on an end around clinched a very important win for the 3-1 Browns. We finally saw a ceiling game from him against a Cowboys team that he terrorized as a Giant. We won't debate whether to play him in shallow leagues any longer heading into a matchup with the Colts.

Browns | Odell Beckham Jr. leads team in Week 3    Sun Sep 27, 05:44 PM

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. registered four receptions for a team-high 59 yards on six targets in Week 3 against the Washington Football Team. The targets were also a team best.

Footballguys view: Beckham was underthrown on a potential long score that turned him into a defensive back and that ruined what chance he had at a solid fantasy day. This low volume pass offense - when the Browns lead for most of the game - is turning Beckham into a boom/bust WR3/Flex.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. caught four passes for 74 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, Sept. 17. He was targeted a team-high six times.

Footballguys view: Beckham could have had two long scores but William Jackson held him when he was free deep a second time. His weekly ceiling is lower this year, but when the Browns running game is humming, the long play action touchdowns should be there for him.

Browns | QB guarantees better chemistry with OBJ    Mon Aug 24, 03:39 PM

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield believes he is 'on the same page' with Odell Beckham Jr. and that both players are 'in a better state' after the team dealt with a lot of adversity last season.'(Our chemistry) is sure ... going to be a lot better than last year. We're just on the same page, things we talked about. There was a lot going on within the building last year. We're not going to get into that, but we're both in a better state. He's healthy; surgery was successful, thank God. He's feeling great. He's in a great state of mind,' Mayfield told NFL Media.

Footballguys view: Better chemistry will come with better protection...at least that's what the Browns are banking on and that's why they went out and spent resources to improve the guys blocking for Mayfield up front.

Browns | Odell Beckham Jr. committed to playing    Mon Aug 3, 02:20 PM

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. does not plan to opt-out of the 2020 season after making comments last month on his YouTube channel and again to the Wall Street Journal about the sensibility of playing through a pandemic.

Footballguys view: Beckham wants to have a bounce-back season just like most all of the Browns players. With an improved offensive line, a premier rushing attack and QB Baker Mayfield playing better we should see better numbers from Beckham. He's a low-end WR1 for Fantasy GMs with a current ADP of WR10 (3.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Browns | Odell Beckham Jr. stresses commitment to Cleveland    Tue Jun 30, 06:01 PM

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. stressed on Twitter Monday, June 29, he's committed to playing for the Browns for at least the upcoming 2020 season. 'U can find me in The LAND homie! We got unfinished business,' Beckham wrote in a reply to Los Angeles Dodgers P Alex Wood who wrote '@obj to the Patriots before the season is done. BANK IT!'

Footballguys view: With the Patriots landing QB Cam Newton, many have speculated they will now try to make a move for Beckham as the two have been working out together this offseason. Beckham had a disappointing season for the Browns in 2019, but so did most of their passing game. With better protection for QB Baker Mayfield we should see him perform more efficiently which will have a trickle down effect to guys like Beckham.

Browns | Odell Beckham Jr. looks ready to play    Thu Jun 25, 04:05 PM

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (core) is 'free and clear' following core muscle surgery, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski added Beckham is '100 percent and looking really good.'

Footballguys view: His core muscle surgery was back in January but it sounds like Beckham could play if games were today. We'll see him participate early in training camp if he truly is free and clear. Beckham is a seasoned veteran who doesn't need a ton of reps, so perhaps the team will just ease him into action to be safe.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. is receiving strong praise from offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. 'He's a worker,' Van Pelt said about Beckham's participation in the offseason program. 'He loves football. He's smart as hell. He's just been a model guy this offseason.'

Footballguys view: Beckham's first year in Cleveland was a disappointment, and Fantasy GMs are looking for a bounce-back year. However, he still went over 1,000 yards and registered 74 catches. We're projecting him for a slight uptick in those numbers this season.

Browns | Odell Beckham has been involved in meetings    Wed Jun 3, 04:21 PM

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. has been fully involved in the virtual meetings this offseason and has been great to work with, according to offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.

Footballguys view: Beckham and the Browns offense want a mulligan after last year. He went over 1,000 yards in 2019, but Beckham hasn't had double-digit touchdowns in a single season since 2016. Expect over 1,000 yards receiving again but to truly be the dominant playmaker the Browns want we need to see him get into the end zone more often.

Browns | Odell Beckham Jr. hurt by poor throws    Wed May 13, 10:19 PM

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. struggled for the bulk of the 2019 season for several reasons - including a core muscle injury - but another factor that contributed to his poor first year with Cleveland was that only 59.7 percent of his targets were deemed catchable, according to Pro Football Focus. Over his first five seasons with the New York Giants, his catchable target percentage was 64.9.

Footballguys view: Baker Mayfield was under pressure early and often in 2019. That has to change this year so he can toss better passes towards Beckham and the other receivers on the roster.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (core) is on track in his rehabilitation from core muscle surgery performed in January, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Footballguys view: Beckham is set for a bounce-back year in 2020. If healthy and meshing with QB Baker Mayfield, Beckham could easily be a top-10 fantasy wide receiver again. Beckham finished as the No.31 fantasy receiver in 2019 (standard-scoring leagues) but should be considered a WR2 for Fantasy GMs in 2020 drafts.
