Who
The Footballguys Players Championship (FPC) is an online tournament presented as a combined effort of David Dodds and Joe Bryant of Footballguys.com and David Gerczak and Alex Kaganovsky of the FFPC, operated by FFPC, LLC. This will be the 11th year for the FPC after being launched in 2010.
When
Footballguys Players Championship drafts will be held as online live drafts. Drafts will be scheduled daily, beginning on Sunday, April 26, 2020, through Saturday, September 12, 2020. Please check the registration page for the draft schedule and available teams.:
Starting in 2020, Footballguys Players Championship drafts will be scheduled before and after Week One Opening Game on Thursday. All teams, whether drafting before or after NFL Week One opening game on Thursday, will be able to submit and edit their starting lineup after Thursday’s game, including start/bench players which played in Thursday’s game. To confirm, all FPC teams will have the same choice on whether to start or sit Thursday players retroactively after they have watched that game. Fantasy stats for Thursday’s players will count towards Week One scores if they are placed in the starting lineup. This is exclusive to Week One. Starting in Week Two, players must be inserted into the starting lineup prior to the start of their games. For more information about this rule, please email support@myffpc.com.
How to Enter
Entry fee into the FPC is $350 per team. Registration is quick and easy. Entrants may register online with a credit card.
Multiple FPC teams may be owned by a single owner and a 3-pack discount is available. Owners may purchase a 3-Pack of teams for $1,000 ($50 savings).
Early Bird Incentive & Deadline
Register for the FPC by June 30, 2020, and draft your team no later than July 15, 2020, to receive a FREE $35 team credit toward any $35-entry FFPC league. A maximum of three (3) $35 team credits are given per person or account regardless of teams purchased or drafted by the Early Bird deadline. $35 credits will be added to a player’s account immediately after the qualifying FPC league fills. To be eligible for $35 credit, FPC teams must be purchased with cash funds. FPC credits are not eligible for the promotion.
Changing Draft Dates
Teams that register early may be able to change their draft date providing their original draft date has not been filled. The new draft date chosen must be later than the original draft date. Example: if the original draft date is August 10, the new requested draft date must be August 11 or later.
Drafts dates will become official and will not be changed once 12 teams have been registered and draft slots have been drawn. Please email support@MyFFPC.com for more information or to change your draft date.
Refund Policy
Refunds of entry fees may be requested until all 12 teams have registered for an FPC draft date. No refunds will be granted after a draft date is filled and draft slots have been announced. No refunds will be granted to owners who do not show up for their draft date. Refund requests will be granted at the sole discretion of Footballguys Players Championship Commissioners and FFPC, LLC.
Draft Slots
As soon as 12 teams are reserved for any individual FPC draft date, draft slots for that league will be randomly selected and announced to the 12 participants by email.
Protection of Prizes
FFPC Customer Deposits and Player winnings are held in a separate, segregated bank account held by ForPlayers-ByPlayers, LLC, the special purpose entity for FFPC, LLC. This Special Purpose Entity was created in compliance with various states’ fantasy sports legislation to ensure the protection of consumer funds. The segregated account is established and held in trust for the benefit and protection of authorized FFPC players. Withdrawals will be made from this segregated account, and checks issued may bear the name ForPlayers-ByPlayers, LLC. ForPlayers-ByPlayers, LLC funds do not belong to FFPC, LLC, nor are the funds available to creditors, except for players whose funds are held in such account. FFPC, LLC and ForPlayers-ByPlayers, LLC are forbidden to commingle funds and will function as two separate legal entities.
Prize Splitting is Available
Prize splitting among principal participant and their co-managers is available. Please refer to the Full Rules, the section titled “Footballguys Players Championship Prize Structure & Distribution” for complete details.
Number of entries in the FPC
Starting in 2014, in order to be in full compliance with the federal law known as the UIGEA which governs fantasy sports, we will be placing a hard cap on the total number of entries in the Footballguys Players Championship. When the FPC announces a guaranteed prize structure, we must stick to that number. Changing prize structure, even upward, is a questionable practice according to the UIGEA. Since it is never possible to truly project participation, our hard cap numbers will be higher than what we actually project for final entries. The hard cap for the 2020 contest will be 10,800 teams. If the contest finishes under the cap number, participants still get the benefit of the larger guaranteed prize pool. If the contest reaches the cap, registrations close immediately. The announced prize structure is guaranteed regardless of the final amount of entries.
Prize Structure
The $500,000 Grand Prize as well as the entire FPC prize structure is fully guaranteed regardless of the final amount of entries.

FPC Game Format
FPC is comprised of 12 team leagues with 20 roster spots. Draft format is classic serpentine: 1-12, 12-1, 1-12, etc.
There are three distinct parts of the Footballguys Player Championship season. Teams have an opportunity to win prizes for succeeding in each of the three:
- Part 1 – Regular season Weeks 1-11
- Part 2 – League Playoffs Weeks 12 & 13
- Part 3 – Championship Round and Consolation Round Weeks 14, 15 & 16
League Playoffs
At the end of the regular season, the two top seeds from each league each earn an automatic berth into the Championship Round, regardless of how they perform in the League Playoffs. The four top seeds (including the two above) from each league will compete in the 2-week, head-to-head League Playoff in Weeks 12 & 13. The winners of the Week 12 match-ups will play each other in Week 13 for the League Championship. The League Champion and runner up will win cash awards as described in the prize structure. All teams which did not qualify for the League Playoffs will enter the Toilet Bowl in Weeks 12-16.
Championship Round
In addition to the cash awards, each League Champion will win a berth in the Championship Round, if they have not already secured an automatic berth after the regular season. In other words, if Seed 3 or Seed 4 wins the League Championship, that team will also move on to the Championship Round along with Seeds 1 & 2. A minimum of two and a maximum of three teams per league will qualify for the Championship Round. Any League Playoff team which did not qualify into the Championship Round will enter the Consolation Round.
There are two safeguards in place for higher scoring teams:
- Any team which did not qualify for the League Playoffs but finished in the top 20% of the FPC Overall Leaderboard at the conclusion of Week 11 will qualify for the Consolation Round (i.e. based on 7,200 teams, top 1440 teams are considered as the top 20%). This typically only effects a couple of dozen or so teams.
- Any team which finished in the top 2% of the FPC Overall Leaderboard at the conclusion of Week 11 will automatically qualify for the Championship Round regardless of how this team performs in the League Playoffs (i.e. based on 7,200 teams, top 144 teams are considered as the top 2%). This is a safeguard for a very rare instance where a high scoring team does not qualify as either Seed 1 or Seed 2.
The Championship Round format is based on the sum of total points scored for each week – there are NO H2H MATCHUPS! Championship Round winners will be determined based on each team’s combined total points scored during Weeks 14, 15 & 16 and added to their one-game point average from the regular season. The team with the most points will be crowned the FPC Overall Champion.
Free Agents
The Free Agent process is via blind bidding. Each team will be given 1000 blind bidding “dollars” to be used for the entire season. IMPORTANT: once these bidding dollars are used up, you will no longer have the ability to pick up free agents. The free-agent time period is extended beyond the 11-week regular season into weeks 12 and 13 for all playoff teams. All teams NOT qualifying into the League Playoffs will have their rosters locked at the end of Week 11 and will no longer have the ability to make free agent moves. There are no free agent moves for any teams in Weeks 14-16.
Starting in 2016 there will now be TWO “pre-season” free agency processes. The first is scheduled on the Friday prior to Labor Day weekend, at 10:00 pm ET for any FPC league which draft concludes on or before the Thursday prior to Labor Day weekend. The second is scheduled on Wednesday after Labor Day weekend, at 10:00 pm ET for any FPC league which draft concludes on or before Tuesday, after Labor Day weekend. All FPC leagues drafted on or after Wednesday, after Labor Day weekend will begin free agency after NFL Week 1 has concluded.
Roster/Scoring
The FPC starting lineup allows for two (2) flex positions, also known as the Dual-Flex. The scoring system gives 1 point per reception for RBs & WRs but also gives 1.5 points per reception for TEs, putting extra weight to the TE position. Action scoring is implemented for all TDs: any TD scored by a player is scored as 6 points to that individual player, in addition to any D/ST scoring that may apply. Stat errors will be automatically corrected using the Elias Sports Bureau. The deadline for lineup submission for each player via the web site or email is the scheduled start time of the game in which the player is participating.
Starting Roster
- 1 QB
- 2 RBs
- 2 WRs
- 1 TE
- 2 flex players (RB/WR/TE)
- 1 K
- 1 D/ST
IMPORTANT: The draft room software will require each team to draft a starting lineup of 1-QB, 2-RB, 2-WR, 1-TE, 2-FLEX, 1-K, 1-D/ST. As an example, if you do not have a Kicker in the final round of the draft, the software will not allow you to draft another position and you will be required to draft a Kicker.
Scoring System
- 4 points for passing TDs, 6 points for all other TDs
- 0.05 point for every 1 yard passing
- -1 point for every interception thrown
- 0.1 point for every 1 yard rushing or receiving
- 1 point per reception for RBs and WRs
- 1.5 points per reception for TEs
- 2 points for 2-pt conversion
- 1 point for PAT conversion
- 3 points for every FG of 1 – 30 yards plus 0.1 points for every yard thereafter
- 1 point for D/ST sack, 2 points for all turnovers
- 6 points for all D/ST touchdowns
- 2 points for every return after a blocked/failed extra point or failed two-point try (i.e. on an interception or fumble).
- 5 points for every safety
- 12 points for every shutout
- 8 points for allowing between 1 – 6 points
- 5 points for allowing between 7 – 10 points
