Week 12: at Chicago Bears
FBG says: Tough matchup. The Giants passing offense kept them in their last game against the Jets, but four touchdowns and over 300 passing yards from Daniel Jones simply was not enough to get the win. Jones has now thrown for four touchdowns in two of his last three games, but the young quarterback remains mistake-prone with eight interceptions on the season and 10 fumbles in his last four games while also struggling with accuracy throughout his first season in the league. Golden Tate remains a solid option for Jones, but rookie receiver Darius Slayton overshadowed Tate in their last game. Slayton has been relatively involved in the offense for most of the season, especially as of Week 6 when he slid into a full-time role with Sterling Shepard injured. While Slayton has made a case to maintain a role in this offense, his volume should go down once both Shepard and Evan Engram return to the lineup. Both have a chance to return this week, with it looking more likely for Shepard than for Engram as Shepard practiced in full starting early in the week. While the Bears defense may not be playing up to par with their elite level from 2018, they are still a very good unit that has performed admirably against the pass in 2019. This group has given up the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game (PPR scoring) to wide receivers and sixth-fewest to quarterbacks on the season. They have been even better against the pass over the past four weeks as quarterbacks have amassed just three passing touchdowns compared to three interceptions while this group is holding teams to just 221 passing yards per game. All Giants receivers should be at a disadvantage up against this secondary. Where the Bears have struggled this season is rushing the passer, ranking near the middle of the pack in sacks (25) while applying a below-average amount of pressure. They didn't get a single sack last week while the Giants offensive line has allowed one or fewer sacks in three of their last four games. On paper, however, the Bears front seven should easily overwhelm what looks to be an undermanned Giants offensive line that ranks well below average according to Matt Bitonti of Footballguys.
