WR Nick Williams - San Francisco 49ers
|5-10, 184||Born: 11-23-1990||College: Connecticut||Drafted: ---|
2017 Week 4 vs BUF (4 / 3 / 30 / 0 rec)
The reserve earned 14 yards as the inside trips man late in the half, picking up the first down inside the Bills' 25. He earned a first down on a short out in the third quarter against off coverage. Then, Ryan led Williams too far on a deep slant and Williams tipped the ball into the air while diving for it. Safety Micah Hyde made a diving interception of the ball and returned it to Atlanta territory. Williams caught a hook in the left flat on third down for a first down with a little more than two minutes left against physical coverage at the catch point.
2016 Week 14 vs LA (5 / 4 / 49 / 0 rec)
The most surprising impact for the Falcons came from the practice squad call-up who Matt Ryan described as knowledgeable and consistent before the game. Williams earned a quick 12 yards on a wide receiver screen to the right on the third drive of the game. He then gained eight yards for a first down as the slot left option during the fourth series on a 3rd and 5. He got open up the seam on third down during the sixth series, but Ryan got hit while throwing and the ball was off-target and Atlanta had to punt. He earned 19 yards on a quick out against tight coverage, earning 9 after the catch. He left the field for evaluation after taking a hard hit up the seam on third down target that he caught for a first down inside the Rams 10. The safety making the hit was hurt worse than Williams. Williams was taken in because the doctors made the call, the safety was helped off the field.
2015 Week 5 vs WAS (4 / 1 / 13 / 0 rec)
The reserve had a 13-yard receiver on a 3rd and 6 out route where Julio Jones ran off the surrounding coverage to that side for Williams to work underneath. There was a target on a deep post, but it was more likely Matt Ryan was throwing the ball out of bounds and Williams was in the area to prevent intentional grounding. Williams was well covered on the route. He also dropped pass in the right flat early in second half on low and away target. Williams will rarely be a factor for the offense unless the unit is decimated with injuries.
2015 Week 7 vs TEN (5 / 3 / 43 / 0 rec)
The reserve-contributor made two nice plays in this game. One came during the mid-third quarter on a deep crossing route for 20 yards that put Atlanta inside the 10 and set up Julio Jones touchdown. Williams is earning more opportunities on the field, but he's not showing much beyond underneath routes or slow-developing intermediate plays where he's the third option in a progression.
2015 Week 12 vs MIN (4 / 3 / 16 / 1 rec)
Williams scored a garbage-time touchdown on a drag route to the right side off boot action. The only other target was a route that Ryan threw behind Williams and the defender Captain Munnerlyn undercut for the interception on this flat route late in the first half.
2015 Week 13 vs TB (2 / 1 / 5 / 1 rec)
The slot receiver is becoming a red zone factor. He caught a drag route on a play-action boot right for the score to end a hurry-up mode drive with 11:00 in the game to give Atlanta the lead. He was also targeted on a pivotal 3rd and 7 while up by three late in the game. It was a route over the middle against a blitz up the middle and Matt Ryan lacked the time to make an accurate throw. Williams almost maintained control with a sliding catch on a bad target that left Ryan yelling at the sideline and his offensive line. This forced a punt and Tampa scored on the next drive to win the game.
2015 Week 14 vs CAR (4 / 4 / 40 / 0 rec)
The reserve caught a deflected WR screen and took it 29 yards to get inside the six in the fourth quarter down 38-0. His other three catches went for a total of 11 yards in mop-up duty.
2015 Week 15 vs JAX (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Williams drew a holding penalty on a short out during a third quarter drive to the left sideline late in the third quarter to earn a first down in Jaguars' territory. It was his only impact on a drive.
