Game Recaps

2009 Week 1 vs ATL (0 / 1 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 1 / 0 / 0 rush)

White had a few opportunities in the Wildcat, including a play action pass to a wide-open Ted Ginn, Jr. (the only noticeable time a Miami WR got open deep) that was overthrown by at least seven yards. White did show some nice awareness on an end around that the Falcons contained and White made a good cut block to help Ginn reverse his field to prevent a loss on the play. Otherwise, the Falcons did a great job of containing this scheme all day. White is a player to continue to monitor, especially if the Dolphins line can't protect Pennington, because White might be used more frequently due to his skills as a runner.

2009 Week 2 vs IND (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 0 / 0 / 0 rush)

White got a few spread option snaps, but it is clear that he is still a backup option even when the Dolphins go to special offensive sets.

2009 Week 4 vs BUF (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 1 / -1 / 0 rush)

Now listed as the backup QB, he only entered the game in the final two minutes. He did not attempt any passes.

2009 Week 5 vs NYJ (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 1 / 6 / 0 rush)

White got in on the game's final drive and ran the spread option well, handing off once to Ronnie Brown, and keeping once for a good gain, but any dreams of White taking over soon because of shortcomings from Chad Henne vanished in this game.

2009 Week 7 vs NO (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 1 / -3 / 0 rush)

White was sacked on his one touch for a loss, and he also handed off to Ronnie Brown in the wildcat on his TD run.

2009 Week 9 vs NE (0 / 1 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 6 / 45 / 0 rush)

Pat White was in for several snaps in the Wildcat formation once again in Week 9, taking the direct snap and running a version of the option on several occasions. His first appearance led to a big 33-yard run in which he ran left and danced past several defenders down the middle of the field. He later pitched a touchdown on the option to Ricky Williams from 15 yards out. White did make one pass attempt but was mostly used as a running quarterback.

2009 Week 10 vs TB (0 / 1 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 1 / 1 / 0 rush)

White only took a handful of snaps in the game, throwing one incomplete pass and rushing one time for one yard. The pace of the game dictated that Henne's downfield passing would keep White on the sideline for much of the contest against Tampa Bay.

2009 Week 12 vs BUF (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 1 / 2 / 0 rush)

White was barely used in this one, showing up late on an option carry, but otherwise having no effect on the outcome of the game.

2009 Week 13 vs NE (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 2 / 0 / 0 rush)

Not much was happening with Pat White in the wildcat formation on this day. On the first Miami drive, White threw an ugly pitchout that was luckily recovered by Miami for a loss of 18 yards, which stalled a very nice looking drive by the Dolphins. The wildcat wasn't seen again until the end of the 3rd quarter when White rushed for no gain inside the NE 10 yard line and was booed by the fans. The wildcat was pretty much extinct after that play as the Dolphins stuck with a more traditional offensive game plan.

2009 Week 15 vs TEN (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 2 / 4 / 0 rush)

White had a couple of rushes out of the Wildcat formation, but wasn't able to gain any significant yardage.

2009 Week 16 vs HOU (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 0 / 0 / 0 rush)

White did not take a snap against the Texans.

2009 Week 17 vs PIT (0 / 2 / 0 / 0 / 0 pass, 5 / 27 / 0 rush)

White took over for Chad Henne in the second half, and was seriously injured after getting tackled while scrambling out of bounds. He looked overmatched in his brief time under center.
