Week 7: at Indianapolis Colts

All RB vs IND

FBG says: Neutral matchup. Carlos Hyde has turned in to the workhorse of this Texans rushing offense after turning in back-to-back games with over 20 rushing attempts and a touchdown. Last week was his best performance yet as Hyde saw a season-high 26 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown despite fumbling on his opening possession. Hyde has now seen the majority of carries in every game despite Duke Johnson still looming in this backfield. Johnson has not been widely used as a rusher though, as he has been relegated to pass protection and pass-catching duties and should only see significant snaps when the Texans are trailing. Deshaun Watson has added huge upside to this rushing offense with his legs this season. Last week, he rushed for over 40 yards for the second straight game and the third time this season. Watson also ran in a pair of touchdowns, bringing his rushing touchdown total up to five on the season--the most among quarterbacks. Watson now ranks third in the league with 164 rushing yards and will continue to serve as a dangerous threat when he tucks it to run, especially if the coaching staff continues to queue up designed running plays for him. The Texans offensive line was dealt a blow last week as they lost versatile offensive lineman Tytus Howard for what looks to be multiple games as he was carted off with a knee injury. Howard may not have been the best individual contributor on this line, but he could rotate between tackle and guard, so his loss will pose a drop both in talent and flexibility for a unit that was just starting to click together. The Colts had allowed an average of 103 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs leading up to their dominant performance against the Chiefs in Week 5. This group was stunningly effective against one of the most dynamic offenses in football, limiting Chiefs running backs to just 25 yards on 10 rushing attempts. Rookie linebacker Bobby Okereke has done a decent job filling in for the injured Darius Leonard, but Leonard is eyeing a return this week which should serve as a significant upgrade as he is one of the best players on this Colts defense. Okereke should ideally see continued playing time as Anthony Walker has really underperformed and could use a few fewer snaps in this unit. Denico Autry is playing well on the defensive interior while Justin Houston added a dynamic option on the edge for the Colts. Jabaal Sheard has been shaky since his return in Week 4, but he showed improvement in Week 5 and will benefit from the bye week as he gets to full health. Overall, this matchup in the trenches could go either way as the Texans deal with a key injury to their offensive line while the Colts try to prove their Week 5 performance was not a fluke.
