Game Recaps

2012 Week 17 vs TEN (17 / 74 / 0 rush, 4 / 3 / 41 / 0 rec)

Toston made the most of his first opportunity at extended reps as he earned the start against Tennessee over Richard Murphy. He carried the ball 17 times and had three receptions for a total of 115 yards from scrimmage. Toston lacks the speed of Maurice Jones-Drew but runs with good power and a forward lean. Despite being addressed at the line of scrimmage by the Tennessee defense on many runs, Toston was able to keep powering his legs and earn positive gains after first contact. His best runs came on two successive rushes around the right end on the Jaguars first drive. On both runs, he took the ball and raced to the outside for an 11 yard and 14 yard gain. As the game wore on the Jaguars ran Toston more between the tackles in an effort to wear down the Titans defense. Toston responded by plowing ahead for 3 and 4 yard gains as he found his rhythm. Unfortunately, Toston was injured in the fourth quarter and did not return to action.

2010 Week 3 vs WAS (11 / 22 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Toston split time with Darby after the injury to Jackson. He is a straight-ahead runner that the Rams used in short yardage and goal line situations. He had two carries from inside the five but did not get the touchdown. His best runs were a couple of 10 yard runs up the middle.

2010 Week 7 vs TB (2 / 7 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Toston had a few unimpressive carries to give Jackson rest, but he is not threatening to move up the depth chart.

2010 Week 14 vs NO (5 / 22 / 0 rush, 1 / 1 / 23 / 0 rec)

Toston helped contribute both on the ground and through the air, rushing for a 4.2 yard per carry average and catching one ball for a long 23-yard gain. As with Steven Jackson, Toston could have had an even better game had the Rams not been forced to throw early and often due to playing from behind. Even so, with Jackson looking the best he's had in a long time, it's unlikely that Toston will see more than 6-8 carries max per game.
