WR Brett Swain - Free Agent
|6-1, 200||Born: 1-21-1985||College: San Diego State||Drafted: Round 7, pick 217 (2008)|
2011 Week 15 vs PIT (2 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec)
Swain is clearly a "depth" player as he didn't see the field until Ginn was injured. His lone catch came on a quick screen pass out to him. He showed decent run-after-catch ability, but his action was so infrequent that a full evaluation is very difficult to make.
2011 Week 17 vs STL (5 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)
QB Alex Smith was so locked in on Crabtree and Davis and the 49ers ran so many run-heavy, 2-TE sets, there was little else to go around and Swain managed only 1 short reception to convert a 2nd and 4.
2010 Week 8 vs NYJ (1 / 1 / 12 / 0 rec)
Swain managed to catch his first (and only) career catch on the day for 12 yards. There is obviously an opportunity for Swain to undertake an increased role with Driver out, but with Jordy Nelson quickly learning the offense and establishing a connection with Aaron Rodgers, James Jones always one catch away from a big play and Donald Lee and Andrew Quarless presenting big, easy targets, it's not going to be easy (or likely).
2010 Week 12 vs ATL (2 / 2 / 40 / 0 rec)
Brett Swain announced his presence in this game with a great play, taking a quick slant from Rodgers, splitting two defenders and pulling away down the field. Swain was one of the receivers Rodgers looked to on hot routes. He could be yet another find by this Green Bay coaching staff.
2010 Week 21 vs PIT (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Swain was pressed into duty in four-wide sets when Donald Driver went down, and he couldn't hold onto a pass that would have extended a drive when the Steelers were looking to take the lead. The Packers will probably look to upgrade their bench WRs after this performance by Swain.
