Week 11: at Detroit Lions

All WR vs DET

FBG says: Good matchup. The Dallas Cowboys' passing attack has been one of the league's most impressive units thus far in 2019. Dak Prescott, under the tutelage of new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, has grown into one of the NFL's most consistent quarterbacks this season. Prescott ranks fifth in the NFL in adjusted yards per attempt this season, and his impressive group of pass-catchers has thrived as a result of his growth under-center. Amari Cooper has been one of the NFL's most consistent wide receivers since joining the Cowboys early last season, and this season has been no different. Second-year receiver Michael Gallup has come into his own this season, with 530 yards and 3 touchdowns to his name in his 7 games played. In the slot, Randall Cobb's role in Dallas' offense has grown in recent weeks, with back-to-back 8-target, 6-reception performances. Cobb's 6-catch, 106-yard, and 1-touchdown game on Sunday night matched his season-high in receptions, set a new season-high in yardage, and marked his first trip to the end zone since week one. His usage since the team's bye week is encouraging, as he provides an added dimension to this passing attack out of the slot. The team's offensive line is elite, and they are primed to dominate once again in week 11 against a weak Detroit Lions' pass-rush. The Detroit Lions' pass defense has faced a notably-high number of pass attempts this season, and they are one of the league's weakest units. Through 9 games, the Lions rank 25th in the NFL, allowing 6.9 adjusted yards per attempt this season, and their struggles start along the defensive line. Offseason acquisition Trey Flowers has held his own in the trenches, with five sacks so far this season, but he gets virtually no support elsewhere in one of the league's weakest overall pass-rushes. At linebacker, Jarrad Davis and Christian Jones both grade as bottom-tier players in coverage, which does not help mask the team's deficiencies in the secondary. The bright-spot in the Lions' defense, Tracy Walker, is questionable for week 11's game against Dallas due to a knee injury that has kept him out of action the past few weeks. If he misses out, expect rookie Will Harris to fill in at safety. Next, Darius Slay has built a strong reputation as a top-end cover-corner, but his production in 2019 has lagged far behind expectations. So far, this season, the Detroit Lions have allowed 19 passing touchdowns, including 3 last weekend to a sputtering Chicago Bears' passing attack, while forcing just 3 interceptions on the year. Expect Dak Prescott to enjoy passing from a clean pocket for the majority of the game this Sunday, allowing him to pick apart the Lions' secondary for another impressive passing performance here in 2019.

2019 Week 3 vs MIA (5 / 2 / 39 / 0 rec)

Smith projected as an uptick player against Miami with Michael Gallup out of the lineup. Smith saw a decent five targets, including three high leverage looks downfield or in the red zone. Smith's red zone fade was a potential touchdown but just out of reach. Smith was double covered on a deep post with no chance of a completion. Smith's lone impact play came on a deep comeback route as Dak Prescott rolled to his side of the field for more than 30 yards. Smith offers the deep speed proxy of Gallup during his absence.
