Week 11: vs New York Jets

All WR vs NYJ

FBG says: Neutral matchup. The Washington Redskins have officially committed to rookie Dwayne Haskins as their starting quarterback for the remainder of the 2019 campaign. This announcement came during the team's bye week, following a brutal 1-8 start to the season. In limited action this year, Haskins has been significantly worse under center than either Case Keenum or Colt McCoy, but this is a decision made with one eye on the future. In the short-term, Washington's already horrific passing attack is poised to struggle with Haskins at the helm. Through his first 44 pass attempts of his career, Haskins has 0 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and has posted a measly 2.4 adjusted yards per attempt. Terry McLaurin remains the team's number-one target moving forward, as his dominance in Washington's passing attack cannot be understated. McLaurin was also a collegiate teammate of Haskins last season at Ohio State, whom Haskins specifically requested the Redskins draft alongside him. Paul Richardson is the team's next-best receiving option, but the volume and quality of targets available aside from McLaurin are uninspiring. Washington's offensive line ranks amongst the league's worst, which will not bode well for a young and developing quarterback this weekend in a typically run-heavy offensive attack. The New York Jets' pass defense faces a remarkably-high number of pass attempts, in large part thanks to the team's impressive run defense, and their efficiency numbers against the pass are respectable overall. The Jets' pass-rush is an average unit overall, headlined by an emerging Jordan Jenkins with five sacks on the edge. At linebacker, C.J. Mosely is going to miss week 11's game due to a groin injury. In his place, James Burgess has started at linebacker. Burgess is a horrific pass defender, and teams have exploited this over the middle in recent weeks with Mike Gesicki and Rhett Ellison, two underwhelming fantasy producers, to post 15.5 and 7.2 PPR points, respectively. The Jets' secondary has been a strength of this team, with Marcus Maye, Jamal Adams, and Brian Poole leading an impressive unit, but recent injuries have left the unit exposed elsewhere. Trumaine Johnson made his way to the IR two weeks ago, and Darryl Roberts' status is in question this weekend due to a calf injury. In his place, expect either Arthur Maulet or Blessuan Austin, both of whom are inexperienced and uninspiring reserves, to enter the starting lineup at cornerback. Last weekend, Daniel Jones carved up the Jets for 300 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions in a shockingly-strong performance by the rookie. This weekend, another rookie, Dwayne Haskins, will need to exploit these few relative weaknesses in the Jets' defense if he has any hopes of success with the odds stacked against him here in week 11.

Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 9 vs BUF (1 / 1 / 12 / 0 rec)

Steve Sims had minimal impact in this game as he only tallied one catch for twelve yards.

2019 Week 5 vs NE (3 / 2 / 1 / 0 rec, 1 / 65 / 1 rush)

Steven Sims scored the only touchdown of the game for Washington as he took a sweep sixty-five yards. He didn't make an impact beyond his splash play. However, Steven seemingly has big play ability and it might be wise for the Redskins to give him more opportunities moving forward.

2019 Week 3 vs CHI (2 / 2 / 24 / 0 rec)

Steven Sims made an appearance in this game and tallied two receptions. The high-volume passing attack allowed for him to be on the field, but he won't make much impact unless a few injuries take place.
