Simpson entered the game on the Colts last series and got 9 yards in mop up duty.

2009 Week 7 vs STL (3 / 35 / 1 rush, 1 / 1 / 2 / 0 rec)

Third string running back Chad Simpson closed out the game in Week 7 against the Rams for Indianapolis. Simpson broke a 31-yard touchdown right down the middle of the field in the fourth quarter, the final points of the day. Simpson rose one click up the depth chart once Donald Brown left the game with a shoulder injury. Should Brown or Addai get injured or miss time, Simpson would be next in line for touches.

2009 Week 10 vs NE (4 / 36 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Third string Colts running back was called into service in Week 10 against the Patriots when both starter Joseph Addai and rookie backup Donald Brown were out with minor injuries. Simpson contributed on the night with solid rushing between the tackles on his four carries, so if either Addai or Brown misses time, Simpson may be worth grabbing for RB depth.

2009 Week 12 vs HOU (2 / 20 / 1 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Simpson had two touches on the day late in the game, one a loss of 3 yards and one for a touchdown. The touchdown was an amazing run wherein Simpson broke 4 tackles on a right-side off-tackle run and scored for the Colts, putting them up by 15 points late in the 4th quarter.

Simpson was supposedly the backup to Joseph Addai, but received no carries, while 3rd stringer Mike Hart carried five times. Simpson did catch two passes, but for negative yardage.

2008 Week 8 vs TEN (4 / 23 / 0 rush, 2 / 2 / 24 / 0 rec)

Simpson had a nice run up the middle for nine yards in the third quarter but that was his first carry of the game. He would add a ten yard carry later in the half, but Simpson played sparingly.

2008 Week 12 vs SD (0 / 0 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Though he got no touches on offense, Simpson averaged 24 yards on four kickoff returns.

2008 Week 15 vs DET (7 / 17 / 1 rush, 1 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)

Simpson was reported to be out of this game with a sprained ankle but took over as backup running back when Addai was ruled inactive. He carried seven times and punched in a short touchdown. He may return to punt return duties because Keiwan Ratliff turned the ball over twice.
