FBG says: Great matchup. The Bills rushing offense actually ranks sixth in the league averaging 139.6 rushing yards per game. They have had a number of contributors on the ground, led most notably by the veteran Frank Gore who has averaged 15 carries per game and 4.4 yards per rush on the season. Josh Allen has also been a big contributor as he ranks third among quarterbacks in rushing yards per game with just over 31. Rookie Devin Singletary also contributed by amassing 127 rushing yards and a touchdown from just 10 rushes before going down with a hamstring injury in Week 2. Coming off a bye last week, Singletary is on track to return for this week's game. While he may be eased back into things this week, he looks to be in line for taking over this backfield sooner rather than later. Gore will remain involved, but Singletary holds the key to big upside for this backfield based on his explosive running style. The Bills offensive line had a week to get healthy, but that may not help this below-average unit much as they lack high-caliber talent and will be an average-at-best group.
The Dolphins gave up yet another big game on the ground last week as Adrian Peterson averaged over five yards per carry on his way to the best game of his season with 118 rushing yards. No disrespect to hall-of-fame running back, but Peterson was averaging just 2.7 yards per carry over the span of his four prior games before doubling his total rushing yards on the season in that matchup with Miami. This goes to show just how terrible this Miami defense can be against running backs. They are allowing an average of 150 rushing yards and a touchdown per game to the position. Game script has certainly been far from favorable for a rushing defense, but their lack of talent at linebacker on the defensive line is tough to ignore. Linebacker Reshad Jones getting back up to speed in the past two games after returning from injury may help, but this group remains a highly vulnerable rushing defense that should yield some solid upside to Bills rushers.
