Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 17 vs GB (9 / 42 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Bo Scarbrough worked in a committee with Kerryon Johnson against the Packers in week 17 and was out carried by Johnson 11 to 9. Scarbrough's work came primarily on the interior as Detroit was effective running directly downhill against the Packers throughout the game. Scarbrough has resurrected his career this season and earned the opportunity to be a backup for Detroit next season.

2019 Week 16 vs DEN (8 / 34 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Bo Scarbrough started ahead of Kerryon Johnson in Johnson's return from injured reserve but had 8 carries to Johnson's 10. Scarbrough was used between the tackles frequently and had one of his bigger gains of the season with an 18 yard run into the second level. Outside of the long gain, Scarbrough was held in check and was not used in the running game. Scarbrough will project in a timeshare next week against the Packers.

2019 Week 14 vs MIN (19 / 65 / 0 rush, 3 / 1 / 5 / 0 rec)

Bo Scarbrough started on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings but left the game with a rib injury in the second half. Detroit never got a rhythm established with third string quarterback David Blough starting in place of an injured Matthew Stafford, but Scarbrough managed to carry the ball 19 times before exiting the game. Scarbrough was also targeted twice, catching one while the other was an inaccurate attempt. Scarbrough has a long injury history dating back to college, so his status will be important to monitor during the week. He faces Tampa Bay at home in week 15.

2019 Week 13 vs CHI (21 / 83 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Bo Scarbrough continued his strong stretch of play on Thanksgiving Day against the Bears recording his first 20 carry game since high school. Scarbrough has been a revelation for the Lions after being out of the league earlier in the season. He ran physically and elusively on the interior and was able to get to the second level on the perimeter on multiple occasions, including one that was called back by penalty. Scarbrough is playing better as an NFL back than a fantasy back at this point because he is not getting any receiving work and only got a carry inside the ten-yard line in the red zone. Scarbrough is the clear lead back going into a tough matchup on the road against the Vikings but is putting himself in position to have a role in the Lions offense heading into 2020.

2019 Week 12 vs WAS (18 / 98 / 0 rush, 1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Bo Scarbrough drew the start against Washington for the second consecutive week and played well. His 18 carries were only one carry short of his highest carry game in college. Scarbrough was primarily a north-south runner and was consistently able to get yardage on the interior and ran physically throughout the game. Scarbrough also had a perimeter chunk carry that was called back by penalty. He had an opportunity for a carry inside the 10-yard line and had a successful carry down to the three yard line. Scarbrough has done enough to continue to lead the Detroit backfield and establish a roster spot next season. He will face the Bears on Thanksgiving.

2019 Week 11 vs DAL (14 / 55 / 1 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Bo Scarbrough drew the start for the Detroit Lions at running back against the Cowboys on Sunday. Scarbrough ran physically on the interior throughout the game, including a short touchdown on his second red zone opportunity of the first drive of the game. Scarbrough nearly had another touchdown on an interior run but was dragged down just short of the end zone. Scarbrough had no passing game involvement as J.D McKissic continued to operate as the passing game back. He will face Washington next week which could create a favorable game script.
