Game Recaps

2019 Week 8 vs LAC (3 / 3 / 67 / 0 rec)

Anthony Miller led the Bears in receiving on Sunday against the Chargers. Miller was only targeted three times, but caught all three passes, including a deep dig and deep over reception. Miller has been quiet this season with Mitchell Trubisky struggling, but his performance on Sunday showed his ability to make contributions if Trubisky's play improves this season. He will look to carve out a role next week at Philadelphia.

2019 Week 11 vs LAR (11 / 6 / 54 / 0 rec)

Anthony Miller was the second most targeted Chicago receiver with 11 targets. His work was largely confined to the short passing game as Mitchell Trubisky frequently checked down during the game but missed a big opportunity down the seam where he broke open but a defender made a strong play to break the ball up. Miller will face the Giants next week.

2019 Week 12 vs NYG (9 / 6 / 77 / 0 rec)

Anthony Miller had a strong game against the Giants on Sunday. Miller's work was in the short passing game, but he added a long reception of 22 yards that helped set up a Chicago touchdown. The Chicago offense struggles to create passing value but Miller has proven to be a dependable option when he receives targets. He will get a good matchup next week against the Lions.

2019 Week 13 vs DET (13 / 9 / 140 / 0 rec)

Anthony Miller had a roller coaster of a game in one of the best performances of the season. The game started regrettably, with three early drops, but Miller rebounded on a team-high 13 targets. Miller's two big plays were perimeter catches down the field in tight coverage where he showed toughness and the ability to track the ball. Miller appeared to be fortunate on the second deep reception because the Lions did not challenge the reception despite the ball appearing to be incomplete. Miller was also used in the short passing game including screens, slant routes, and crossing routes. He has been a strong role in the offense in recent weeks and has looked quick with the ball in his hands after short routes. He will get a good matchup against the Cowboys who struggled against Cole Beasley in a similar role on Thanksgiving.

2019 Week 14 vs DAL (4 / 3 / 42 / 1 rec)

Anthony Miller had another good fantasy performance against the Cowboys in week 14, with a touchdown on a screen pass. Miller was explosive after the catch on the play and set up his blockers well. He had another reception with a run after the catch, but had another catch called back by penalty and had a drop. Miller has struggled with drops in recent weeks and will look to rebound in week 14 against the Packers.

2019 Week 15 vs GB (15 / 9 / 118 / 1 rec)

Anthony Miller continued his streak of hot play against the Packers in a loss on Sunday. Miller was used in the screen game frequently and caught multiple balls in tight windows over the middle of the field. He broke his big gain on a deep over route off a throwback concept where he broke wide open. Miller also scored a touchdown at the goal line on a slant route from the slot where he broke open for the score. Miller had the opportunity for a bigger gain but had a drop and could not stay inbounds on a long target along the perimeter. Miller has consolidated his role as the second receiver in the offense with the passing game funneling through Allen Robinson, Miller, and Tarik Cohen. He has a good opportunity for passing volume next week against the Chiefs.

2019 Week 16 vs KC (2 / 1 / 2 / 0 rec)

After a recent stretch of strong play, Anthony Miller had a disappointing game against the Chiefs in the fantasy playoffs on Sunday. Miller fumbled an end-around on the first drive of the game and his lone reception was a quick screen on third and long for a gain of two yards. Miller will have a week 17 matchup against the Vikings.

2019 Week 17 vs MIN (1 / 1 / 5 / 0 rec)

Anthony Miller finished the season on a low note as he was only targeted once on third down for a catch beneath the line to gain. Miller showed signs of progress this season but had inconsistent target shares and struggled with drops.

2018 Week 7 vs NE (7 / 2 / 35 / 0 rec)

Miller continues to grow in this offense even though the results haven't been there. Miller saw seven targets in this game including several deep throws down the field. Trubisky came out after the game and talked about how he was impressed with Miller's route running ability throughout the game. Miller should have had a touchdown on a badly underthrown ball by Trubisky in which Miller had the perfect route if the ball was thrown deep enough, but it was underthrown by about 15 yards forcing Miller to slow down and have to come back to the ball which ended up being intercepted.

2018 Week 8 vs NYJ (7 / 3 / 37 / 1 rec, 1 / 7 / 0 rush)

The signs continue to be there for the rookie that the Bears want to continue to get him involved in the deep passing attack especially with Allen Robinson sidelined during this game. Miller once again had seven targets in this game and after not being able to connect on his first three targets ended up making two spectacular catches one on a seam route in which Miller took a big hit from the safety and the other in the end zone for a touchdown in which he had the defender face guarding him but was still able to find the ball and get his feet in at the back of the end zone.

2018 Week 9 vs BUF (6 / 5 / 49 / 0 rec, 1 / 9 / 0 rush)

Anthony Miller's role in this offense continues to grow especially as Allen Robinson missed another game this week. Miller led the team in targets and does a tremendous job going up and catching the ball at its high point as he does a tremendous job catching the ball with his hands instead of his body. Miller's role will be a question moving forward as the Bears may get Allen Robinson back this week. Miller lined up all over the field in this game including out of the slot and out wide which could indicate that he will continue to have a role even when Robinson returns.

2018 Week 10 vs DET (6 / 5 / 122 / 1 rec)

Anthony Miller's role in this offense continues to grow as his receiving yards have increased for the fifth consecutive week this week and he broke out with a huge game. Miller's day was primarily setup on two plays. The first play was an out route 15 yards downfield and Miller was able to shake off the defender who went high on the tackle which allowed Miller to score on a 45-yard touchdown. The second play was an in-route ten yards downfield, but Miller was able to find space in the zone, juke a safety and cut upfield for 55 yards. Miller will continue to rely on big plays to consistently have value, but he continues to develop and gain the coaches trust every week.

2018 Week 11 vs MIN (3 / 2 / 25 / 1 rec, 1 / -1 / 0 rush)

Anthony Miller's snap counts continue to grow as he was on the field for 81% of the game this past week and while he did not have a significant role in this offense this week as he had just three targets, he did make one of the critical catches this week in the Bears win. Miller made an unbelievable catch on an 18-yard touchdown pass in which Trubisky was scrambling for his life and Miller was able to keep working and find a spot where Trubisky could throw it to. Trubisky underthrew the ball, but Miller was able to make an amazing diving catch coming back to it for the touchdown.

2018 Week 12 vs DET (4 / 3 / 41 / 0 rec)

Miller was largely a non-factor in this game but did catch a 26-yard reception in which he simply outran Nevin Lawson on a deep in route over the middle. Miller is playing more of a deep threat role in this offense along with Allen Robinson as Taylor Gabriel and Tarik Cohen play more of the underneath roles.
