Recent Game Summaries
2018 Week 9 vs LAR (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec - 0 points, $4900)
The usage of Meredith continues to decrease this season as he only saw the field for 13 offensive plays and did not register a single target. Tre'Quan Smith has seen all of the targets vacated by Ted Ginn and Meredith has found himself irrelevant for the Saints.
2018 Week 7 vs BAL (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec - 0 points, $4900)
It was projected that Meredith was going to get a lot more work with Ginn on the shelf, but that was not the case this week. After finally getting in sync with the offense the last few weeks, Meredith only played 18 offensive snaps this week. He lost snaps to Smith and targets to Dan Arnold. Meredith has had an up and down tenure with New Orleans so far but expect his usage to increase next week against the Vikings.
2018 Week 5 vs WAS (5 / 5 / 71 / 0 rec - 7.6 points, $4900)
It was a very efficient game for Meredith this week as he pulled in all 5 of his targets. The big play was a 46-yard catch and run from Brees where he was pushed out of bounds before he could make it into the end zone. Meredith has shown he has a full grasp of the offense now and Brees has shown trust in his new receiver. The most interesting part about Meredith is how much work he is taking away from Michael Thomas. It is hard to trust any of the secondary receivers in New Orleans with all the competition for targets, but Meredith is emerging as the second-best option behind Thomas this season.
2018 Week 4 vs NYG (4 / 3 / 32 / 0 rec - 4.7 points, $4900)
The Saints seem to finally be giving Meredith the keys to the offense as they feel more comfortable with him in their scheme. He is pushing Ted Ginn for targets and is just another weapon for Brees down the field. He caught 3 of his 4 targets this week and was tied for second with Michael Thomas for total targets this week. Meredith has a wider skill set than Ginn and can be used in more situations. He had a nice 20-yard catch and run slant across the middle for his longest play of the game. Meredith is going to be highly dependent on volume and we will not know exactly what he will see until they work Mark Ingram back into the offense.
2018 Week 3 vs ATL (1 / 1 / 11 / 1 rec - 7.6 points, $4900)
The Saints finally felt that Meredith had picked up enough of the offense to be active this week, and it paid dividend right away. He was given a limited role for his first game and made the best of it with 1 target, 1 catch, and a touchdown. Brees was nearly sacked in the back field but managed to scramble free and found Meredith up the seam for 11 yards. The play ended up being reviewed after it looked that he was tackled short of the goal line, but the touchdown call was upheld. This was the only target Meredith received this week. It will be interesting to see how much his role increases and who will lose touches when that happens.
