TE Sean McGrath - Free Agent
|6-5, 247||Born: 12-3-1987||College: Henderson State||Drafted: ---|
2016 Week 3 vs IND (1 / 1 / 13 / 0 rec)
McGrath had a nice 13-yard catch and run over the middle, but was only seeing any kind of work in this game because Antonio Gates was out with an injury.
2013 Week 2 vs DAL (4 / 2 / 31 / 0 rec)
With Fasano out, it was McGrath and not Travis Kelce that was involved in the passing game. Don't feel bad if you haven't heard of McGrath because the Cowboys acted like they hadn't either, leaving him wide open to catch two passes for 31 yards.
2013 Week 3 vs PHI (4 / 4 / 31 / 0 rec)
McGrath had a hug opportunity with every tight end ahead of him hurt. He finished third on the team in receptions and receiving yards, and showed good hands in traffic. Twice McGrath caught the ball out wide short of the marker and beat his man for the first down. McGrath held his own as a blocker and looked at least like someone that belonged on the field.
2013 Week 4 vs NYG (5 / 5 / 64 / 1 rec)
Sean McGrath is taking full advantage of his opportunity, leading the team in receptions and receiving yards in his second full week of action. He made catches in traffic, broke tackles after the catch, and caught his first touchdown pass. The touchdown pass was a good crossing route in the back of the end zone on a play that was designed to get the defense going the other direction. McGrath also caught a 10 yard hitch and a 23 yard seam route, but his most impressive play came in the third quarter. McGrath ran a short out, had to rip the pass away from Jason Pierre-Paul, and then outran Pierre-Paul up the field for a big gain.
2013 Week 5 vs TEN (6 / 4 / 54 / 0 rec)
McGrath continues to improve on a weekly basis and looked very impressive in this one. He beat linebackers and safeties over the middle on cross routes, both shallow and deep. He had no trouble getting the separation Alex Smith needed and then delivered the blow when a tackler approached. His 25 yard reception came against a safety, again on a cross that was two steps behind McGrath when he caught the ball.
2013 Week 6 vs OAK (3 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
McGrath's production dropped off drastically as he was asked to help in pass protection and was rarely targeted when he did run routes. He did get wide open in the seam on one play but Smith never saw him.
2013 Week 7 vs HOU (2 / 1 / 1 / 0 rec)
McGrath saw his playing time nearly cut in half and had some bad luck to go with it. He was wide open in the end zone in the fourth quarter but Alex Smith's pass led him out of bounds. It was one of the few targets McGrath saw and his only catch resulted in a one yard gain.
2013 Week 8 vs CLE (2 / 2 / 25 / 0 rec)
The Chiefs ran a lot of two tight end sets, which meant a lot more of McGrath than we saw last week. His biggest play came on a corner route, and it looked like the Browns forgot to cover him. McGrath caught the ball wide open for a 22 yard gain that moved the Chiefs into the red zone.
2013 Week 11 vs DEN (3 / 2 / 40 / 0 rec)
McGrath saw a lot of action in two tight end sets and was targeted deep down the field more than usual. He was well-covered and overthrown on his first target deep down the right sideline. Later in the quarter he settled under the deep safeties and hauled in a 19 yard grab wide open in the middle of the field. His best gain came on a short cross where he was lost in coverage and then did a good job following Dwayne Bowe's superb blocking up the field for a 21 yard gain.
2013 Week 12 vs SD (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
McGrath saw very little action and made only one grab,, that was not allowed because Alex Smith's throw led him out of bounds. The Chiefs used less two tight end sets which meant less McGrath on the field.
2013 Week 13 vs DEN (3 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec)
McGrath was overthrown on his only red zone target and saw very little action in the passing game. His lone reception came on a short cross where he beat the linebacker in coverage for an 11 yard gain and a first down.
2013 Week 14 vs WAS (3 / 2 / 20 / 0 rec)
McGrath saw a majority of the action at tight end with Anthony Fasano out and responded well. His first grab was relatively easy on a short out where he lost the linebacker with ease. His second came on a short cross and he did an excellent job of spinning way from the tackle and rumbling up the field for an 11 yard gain and a first down.
2013 Week 15 vs OAK (2 / 2 / 14 / 1 rec)
McGrath was completely uninvolved for the first 2 Ω quarters but he made the most of the few targets he saw in the second half. He ran an excellent route on his six yard touchdown. With a corner lined up over him McGrath made a decisive cut on a short slant and hauled in a well thrown ball at the goal line.
2013 Week 17 vs SD (2 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec)
Though he was the primary tight end for most of the game, McGrath's first and only catch didn't come until the 4h quarter. He beat a linebacker over the middle for an 11 yard gain, but wasn't heard from again.
