The Bucs parted ways with nine-year veteran Gerald McCoy this offseason, opting to take his $13m salary off the books completely rather than be saddled by it. McCoy's level of play has tapered off slightly in recent years, but it didn't take him long to find a home in Carolina - only after several teams showed interest in the veteran. McCoy will slot in as a 3-4 base end with the Panthers, but should have the versatility to kick inside as well. His upside may not be what it once was, but in Carolina's defensive line rotation he should be able to maximise his impact. (June 4)

Panthers | Carolina wins Gerald McCoy sweepstakes (Mon Jun 3, 05:53 PM) - Free-agent DT Gerald McCoy (Buccaneers) reportedly agreed to terms with the Carolina Panthers on an undisclosed contract Monday, June 3.

Our View: Details of that contract are now in. McCoy reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $8 million, according to Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud, who adds the contract can max out at a reported $10.25 million with incentives. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the signing bonus will be $4 million. McCoy stays in the NFC South where he can play his former team twice a year. He should be a good fit for the Panthers defense and then get to hit the open market again in 2020.
