Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 17 vs OAK (17 / 28 / 177 / 1 / 0 pass, 6 / 29 / 0 rush)

Lock had another solid but unspectacular day as he did not turn the ball over and threw one short touchdown to fullback Andrew Beck. Lock drove the offense down the field to a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the 1st half, completing passes to Hamilton and Sutton as well as drawing a pass interference flag in the end zone to set the offense up for an easy 1 yard touchdown pass to Beck. Beck scored on a play action pass that left him uncovered in the flat for an easy pass from Lock. Lock was unable to connect on any big plays with number one target Sutton, but the pair did connect on three different PI penalties, including the aforementioned flag that set up the one yard touchdown pass. Lock only took two sacks and picked up 29 yards on the ground with six carries.

2019 Week 16 vs DET (25 / 33 / 192 / 1 / 0 pass, 4 / 10 / 0 rush)

Lock had a solid but unspectacular day as the Denver offensive line played solid ball against a banged up Detroit defense. Lock did not take any sacks and led five scoring drives, but only threw one touchdown pass that was actually just a shovel pass to DaeSean Hamilton, who was coming across the formation on an end around sweep. Lock's couldn't do much downfield, as his biggest gain of the day was a 20 yard connection with Hamilton across the middle of the field off play action in the 1st quarter. Lock finally found the end zone in the 4th quarter with the shovel pass to Hamilton. Lock picked up 10 yards on four scrambles total.

2019 Week 15 vs KC (18 / 40 / 208 / 0 / 1 pass, 2 / 3 / 0 rush)

Lock and the entire Denver offense performed poorly in near-blizzard like conditions, piecing together one scoring drive that ended in a field goal in the 2nd quarter. Lock couldn't get anything going downfield in the heavy snow, with a long connection of 43 yards to Noah Fant in the 2nd quarter on a 4th and 1 play action pass. He nearly connected with Sutton in the end zone at the end of the drive, but a defender knocked the ball loose as Sutton fell to the turf. Lock floated a bad pass in the general direction of Tim Patrick and was intercepted by safety Matheiu in the 3rd, but he got bailed out by a defensive holding penalty. Undeterred, he bought time with his feet on the next play and lobbed up a floater across the field to Noah Fant that was intercepted in the end zone, this time officially.

2019 Week 14 vs HOU (22 / 27 / 309 / 3 / 1 pass, 3 / 15 / 0 rush)

Lock came out red hot to throw three touchowns in the 1st half before cooling off a bit at the end of the game. He hit Noah Fant for 48 yard gain up the right sideline on his first pass attempt of the game. He finished the drive off with a laser pass to Fant in tight coverage for his first score of the day. Lock led another scoring drive in the second quarter, with a big completion to Tim Patrick down the left sideline and another big gain to backup RB Booker. Lock capped the drive with a touchdown to Jeff Heuerman on an out route that Houston just didn't cover very well. Lock tacked on another score before halftime with a beautifully executed misdirection play that left Royce Freeman wide open for a short touchdown pass. Lock slowed down in the 2nd half, tossing an interception into double coverage while looking for Sutton in the end zone midway through the 3rd quarter. Lock picked up a few yards with his feet, with a long scramble of 11 yards in the 3rd quarter.

2019 Week 13 vs LAC (18 / 28 / 134 / 2 / 1 pass, 3 / 15 / 0 rush)

Lock secured a win in his first NFL start, posting a modest stat line of 134 yards as he connected with Courtland Sutton on two touchdowns in the 1st half. The first was a well-placed deep ball down the right sidelines that Sutton hauled in with a diving one-handed grab. Lock and Sutton capitalized on good field position from a Phillip Rivers interception on the next drive as they hooked up for their second touchdown of the day. Sutton lined up in the right slot and worked his way open on an out route in the back right corner of the end zone for the score. Lock telegraphed a pass for Tim Patrick in the 4th quarter and was intercepted by Denzel Perryman. Lock looked good moving around in the pocket, and picked up a couple of first downs with scrambles.
