It's a make-or-break year for Drew Lock. A second-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, Lock was given the keys to the franchise after flashing in five games as a rookie. Just like his first season, Lock struggled to stay healthy with shoulder, ribs and a back injury that plagued him as a second-year pro. What else plagued him was his propensity to throw interceptions. His 15 interceptions were tied for the league lead in 2020, and Lock generally looked uncomfortable when forced to go away from the read on the right side of the field. Lock did flash again for the Broncos late in the year, mainly when the team was in desperation mode of against a banged up defense (Panthers). However, he did not show improvement on what he did as a rookie and didn't look like a fit for the Pat Shurmur system. This year, Lock will have to compete with Teddy Bridgewater for the starting job. Bridgewater knows the Shurmur offense from their time together with the Vikings and might win the job. If Lock wins the starting job, he's on very thin ice atop the Broncos depth chart. (May 9)

Broncos | Drew Lock, Teddy Bridgewater to share snaps (Sun May 2, 01:38 PM) - Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock and QB Teddy Bridgewater will evenly share the snaps during offseason workouts and training camp, according to head coach Vic Fangio.

Our View: The Broncos are going to have a training camp competition to see who is going to be the starter. Neither Lock or Bridgewater are exciting options for the Broncos, but this team wants to win with swarming defense and a strong rushing attack. The one who turns the ball over the least likely wins the job.

Broncos | Denver QBs folded under pressure last year (Wed Apr 28, 03:36 PM) - Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock led the league with eight interceptions on throws under pressure in 2020, according to Pro Football Focus. New Broncos QB Teddy Bridgewater - then a member of the Carolina Panthers - was second in the league with seven.

Our View: Lock and Bridgewater make up the Broncos quarterback room...for now. With the no.9 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, we'll see if the Broncos go ahead and select a quarterback to throw in the mix. If Lock and Bridgewater are it for the Broncos, then both need to be better when the heat is on.
