Week 21: at Los Angeles Rams
FBG says: Neutral matchup. Tom Brady continues to show that in the playoffs he is just a different quarterback than the regular season. In each of his last two games, Brady has thrown for over 340 yards in both games and has now thrown for over 300 yards in 11 of his last 14 playoff games. This is a unit that has been able to identify the pre-snap read and get the ball out of Brady's hands quickly to James White, Julian Edelman or even Rob Gronkowski who had a vintage Gronkowski game against the Chiefs last week. This is a unit that will take whatever mismatch the defense is willing to give up with the variety of playmakers that the Patriots have on the field. The Rams secondary continues to be a unit that has largely underperformed this season. While the unit has dealt with injuries primarily to Aqib Talib who missed a large portion of the year, the Rams have been a unit that has been a merely average team against the pass compared to the expectations heading into this season with the acquisitions of Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters. Peters has been extremely disappointing and will be matched up this week against a combination of Phillip Dorsett and Chris Hogan. The good news for the Rams this week is that their strength is at the slot corner position as Nickell Robey-Coleman has been one of the best slot corners in the league this year and could pose problems for Julian Edelman in this game. The one concern for the Rams could be their ability to cover Rob Gronkowski in this game as the team has allowed seven tight ends this season to go for over 50 yards and five tight ends to go for over 90 yards.

LaCosse's caught Keenum's first pass attempt of the game for no gain on a short out route. LaCosse caused an interception when he let a pass from Keenum deflect off his hands and into a defender's arms in the end zone at the end of the 2nd quarter. Keenum checked it down to LaCosse on 3rd and 19 in the 3rd quarter, but the tight end was tackled a few yards shy of the first down marker.
2018 Week 15 vs CLE (6 / 4 / 43 / 0 rec)
LaCosse had a fairly productive week compared to his other outings since being elevated to the number 1 tight end spot. He converted 3rd and 10 with a play action crossing route in the 1st quarter. He picked up another first down with a strong run after the catch up the right sideline on a curl route in the 2nd quarter. LaCosse split out wide left and made a nice move on a quick slant later in the 2nd, picking up another gain. LaCosse pulled in one last target for a 14 yard gain up the right seam in the last minute of the 4th quarter.

2018 Week 12 vs PIT (4 / 3 / 34 / 1 rec)

Keenum found him for a 17 yard gain up the left sideline late in the 2nd, then hit LaCosse for a short touchdown on the next play. LaCosse had another nice sideline reception that was ruled just barely out of bounds early in the 3rd quarter. LaCosse's 4 targets were tied with Sutton for second most on the team to Emmanuel Sanders' 12. Jeff Heuerman left the game late in the 4th and is done for the season with rib and lung injuries, so LaCosse could keep trending up.

LaCosse secured two identical passes on consecutive plays late in the 4th quarter, both of them out routes towards the sideline to stop the clock while picking up short gains.
2018 Week 7 vs ARI (1 / 1 / 12 / 0 rec)
LaCosse worked behind Jeff Heuerman in the tight end rotation. He caught his only target for a 12 yard gain late in the 2nd quarter.
2018 Week 6 vs LAR (4 / 1 / 7 / 0 rec)

2018 Week 5 vs NYJ (2 / 2 / 19 / 0 rec)
LaCosse mixed into the tight end rotation with Heuerman. He caught a curl route for an 11 yard gain in the 4th quarter, then hauled in a short crossing route on the final drive of the game.
