Week 6: vs Los Angeles Rams
FBG says: Tough matchup. Last Sunday, Case Keenum finally posted his first usable fantasy line (and threw his first touchdown pass) since Week 1, hanging 377 yards and 2 scores on the Jets. But it was a hard-earned line, with Keenum constantly folding to Jets pressure and struggling to keep possessions moving consistently. A turnover machine like Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch before him, Keenum is simply miscast as an NFL starter. He's creative when he moves, but remains dreadful in the pocket, incapable of diagnosing a defense and striking at it with any method or rhythm. Rather, he relies on his mobility and his playmakers' dynamism to generate yardage in chunks. It worked last week, with Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, and Courtland Sutton all winning most of their battles downfield. But that's not an every-week thing, and until Keenum shows the ability to captain an offense with any consistency at all, this will remain a hit-or-miss unit. His receivers are doing their part, but they can't be trusted to post big-time fantasy performances in this situation. The Rams pass defense, prioritized heavily in the offseason, is at a crossroads. Last week's numbers don't show it, but Russell Wilson was able to break the Seahawks' slump with several key throws. With prized addition Aqib Talib out at one cornerback spot and a hobbled Marcus Peters struggling at the other, offenses are keeping up with the Rams' explosive attack. They've allowed their last two opponents, Kirk Cousins and Wilson, to produce 8.73 yards per attempt, with 6 touchdowns to 0 interceptions. Peters is still fiery and aggressive, and he disrupts plenty of throws, but he's looking beatable as he fights a nagging hamstring injury. Last week he gave up two touchdowns to David Moore, one in which he couldn't keep up in a drag across the back line, and the other by biting badly on an inside route. At least Nickell Robey-Coleman has been outstanding in the slot. Adam Thielen gave him fits 2 weeks ago, but Doug Baldwin, Keenan Allen, and Larry Fitzgerald combined for just 73 yards in the matchup.
