Recent Game Summaries
2018 Week 17 vs PHI (12 / 27 / 91 / 0 / 1 pass, 3 / 4 / 0 rush)
Johnson struggled mightily against the Eagles defense in the shutout loss to end the season. While Johnson had one interception on his final stat line, he nearly threw three others and took a myriad of untimely third and fourth down sacks. The lone stretch of rhythm to the Washington passing game was on a garbage time drive only to be ended by a fourth down sack before Washington could finish the drive. Johnson's mobility was a non-factor in the game as he was used on rollouts but scrambling did not result in any impact plays.
2018 Week 16 vs TEN (13 / 23 / 153 / 1 / 2 pass, 4 / 22 / 0 rush)
Josh Johnson kept the offense afloat for the majority of the day. He led a run-heavy attack as the offense combined for thirty-four rush attempts. Josh only attempted twenty-three passes and most of them were short completions to emphasize ball control. He only completed thirteen passes but sprinkled in a seven yard touchdown in the first half. It was an effective gameplan as he led the offense on a couple of 80+ yard drives. However, with Washington trailing late in the fourth quarter they needed him to be more aggressive in the passing game and they collapsed. Josh missed his receiver that was open on a slant and that closed the door on a potential upset.
2018 Week 15 vs JAX (16 / 25 / 151 / 1 / 0 pass, 9 / 49 / 0 rush)
Josh Johnson looked every bit like a quarterback that isn't comfortable with a new team. He has barely been there two weeks and it looked like it today. He was indecisive in the pocket and often tried to use his mobility to keep plays alive. However, he saved his best for last as he orchestrated a touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter. Then shortly after he set up the kicker for a game winning field goal. Josh only threw for one hundred and fifty yards but his forty-nine yards rushing was a huge plus. Playing in a game that remained close throughout was highly beneficial for Josh to compete and become effective.
2018 Week 14 vs NYG (11 / 16 / 195 / 1 / 1 pass, 7 / 45 / 1 rush)
Josh Johnson took the field a little more than midway through the third quarter in relief of Mark Sanchez. His production was garbage time the rest of the way, but he still proved to be more effective running the offense. Josh found Jamison Crowder on a drag route that he took in for a touchdown from seventy-eight yards out. He added a rushing touchdown as well. Josh attempted sixteen passes and made the most of his completions as a few of them went for chunk gains. His mobility was a factor keeping plays alive to find open receivers. The offense remained very limited as Josh has barely had time to digest the playbook but it was clear he is the best fit moving forward.
