FBG says: Bad matchup. The Patriots are coming off of a bye at the best time as they were blown out by the Ravens in Week 8. Sony Michel only saw four carries in that game as it was a game script game that forced the Patriots to throw the ball 46 times. Michel has struggled for most of the season as the Patriots have had a combination of offensive line health issues and just a lack of production from the second-year player. Michel has averaged just 3.3 yards per carry on the season, but before last week the team had remained committed to the running back as he had 16 carries or more in five straight games before the lopsided Ravens victory. Expect Michel to continue to be the volume back simply because the Patriots don't have anyone else to take that load.
The Eagles run defense continues to shut down their opposition as they are one of the more dominant units in the NFL. Led by defensive linemen Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham, this is a unit that schemes to take away the run. On the year, the Eagles have only allowed two running backs to rush for over 50 yards which were Alexander Mattison (63 yards) and Ezekiel Elliott (111 yards), this is a unit that has shut down Devonta Freeman, Le'Veon Bell, Kerryon Johnson, Aaron Jones, and Dalvin Cook as some of the running backs who were unable to break 50 yards. The Patriots should have their hands full with and expect Sony Michel and company to struggle in this one.
