RB Javarris James - Free Agent
|6-0, 212||Born: 9-18-1987||College: Miami (Fla.)||Drafted: ---|
2010 Week 9 vs PHI (4 / 12 / 2 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Javarris James entered Week 9 second on the depth chart for the week, right behind starter Donald Brown. James replaced an ineffective Brown twice in goal line situations and two times James found the end zone. James looked better after first contact than Brown and it would not be surprising if James passes Brown on the short term depth chart.
2010 Week 10 vs CIN (10 / 26 / 1 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Just like last week, James was awarded the goal-line work and cashed in on the coaching staff's confidence successfully. At this point, James' only real value exists in highly scored touchdown leagues or, obviously, as a bench stash in the hopes that any of the other oft-injured Colts backs will eventually go down (once again).
2010 Week 12 vs SD (2 / 0 / 0 rush, 3 / 3 / 22 / 0 rec)
James' touches were very few and far between. He caught a short pass over the middle in the second half, but had the ball stripped away by the defender for a fumble, which was recovered by the Chargers. On the play, James appeared to have been slightly shaken up. On the final possession for the Colts, James was targeted in the end zone but was overthrown for an interception.
2010 Week 13 vs DAL (6 / 18 / 2 rush, 3 / 2 / 17 / 0 rec)
ames scored two more short touchdowns against the Cowboys on Sunday, bringing his season total to five. James has proven to be an effective short-yardage back in Joseph Addai's absence. He \ has 5 touchdowns on only 28 carries. Both touchdowns came on short, off-tackle runs during the fourth quarter. The Colts drove 81 yards on the first drive and 80 yards on the second. On both touchdowns, Peyton Manning appeared to audible at the line of scrimmage in to a play that gave James a chance to score. James does not appear to be the fastest or most agile back, but he is running with a good forward lean and a low pad level. He also does not appear to dance behind the line of scrimmage looking for a hole but rather takes the handoff from Manning with a full, downhill head of steam.
2010 Week 14 vs TEN (17 / 49 / 1 rush, 1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
James is the third string running back at best for this team and his lack of standout talent was visible. James was used solely in the running game and to provide a somewhat existent threat that the Colts would run the ball. The Titans used 7 man fronts against TE packages that Indy used, so running the ball did not prove that difficult. James was used in short yardage runs, such as dives most of the time and was effective at picking up positive yards and first downs when needed. He was also used on the goal line, and after a penalty gave the Colts 1st and goal, he scored rather easily. His role was limited and he never brought the big play factor, but he did what he was asked to do in the running game for his team.
2010 Week 15 vs JAX (1 / 0 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
James only had one carry and was a total non-factor.
