Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 15 vs IND (1 / 1 / 5 / 1 rec)

Just like Smith earlier, Hill made the most of his 1 catch this week. It was Jill who caught the record-breaking touchdown from Brees on a 5-yard route in the flat. The Saints normally run the ball in this situation, but they wanted to get Brees the record. It was a play action fake with Hill leaking into the flat. His linebacker in coverage bit on the fake and then did not have enough time to recover and make a play on the ball. It was an easy pitch and catch for the score and the all-time record for Brees.

2019 Week 14 vs SF (3 / 2 / 4 / 1 rec)

Hill did not light up the box score this week, but he did come down with a touchdown. Brees found Hill wide open in the flat for an easy 3-yard score. He lined up in the back field as a full back and the play fake to Kamara sucked the entire defense to the middle of the field. Hill leaked into the flat and easily beat his linebacker to the goal line for the 3-yard score. He finished his day with 2 catches on 3 targets for 4 yards and a touchdown. He has been more of a blocking tight end all season and with the emergence of Cook in recent weeks there is no reason to think that will change.

2019 Week 7 vs CHI (3 / 3 / 43 / 1 rec)

This was the most effective game of the season for Hill. He caught all 3 of his targets including a long 27-yard catch and run and a 7-yard touchdown. Hill settled into the void in the Bears zone coverage and caught a deep pass up the seam before being tackled for his 27-yard gain. His touchdown pass looked like a blown coverage but again came when he settled down into a void. Hill leaked out into the flat that was wide open after the defensive coverage rolled to the inside. HE caught the ball 2 yards from the line of scrimmage and ran the last 5 yards in for the easy score without being touched. The Saints offense has been banged up all season and it will take different people stepping up to keep the streak going.
