General News (Fri Oct 18): is eligible to come off the Reserve/Injured list in a week after undergoing surgery for a fractured ankle in August, but likely won't be ready to play, health-wise, for a "few weeks," according to information obtained by a team beat reporter on Friday, Oct. 18.

Week 7: at Denver Broncos

All QB vs DEN

FBG says: Neutral matchup. Patrick Mahomes limped along to his NFL record-tying 25th consecutive game with at least 240 passing yards last week as he posted a season-low 272 passing yards in the loss to Houston. Mahomes has been struggling through an ankle injury for the past two weeks, and he was again considerably limited outside of the pocket last week. Despite those limitations, Mahomes still passed for three or more touchdowns for the fourth time this season. his ankle situation will definitely be worth monitoring with the short turnaround, but he will likely be playing through it and still pose a legitimate threat for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Tyreek Hill returned from injury and made an immediate impact last week, leading the team in all receiving categories with five receptions from 10 targets for 80 yards and two touchdowns despite being limited to just 50 percent of the snaps. He will be a top option for Mahomes this week, especially if Sammy Watkins remains sidelined. He is practicing on a limited basis this week though, so keep an eye on his status coming into Thursday evening. Travis Kelce saw a season-low six targets and just barely missed out on a short touchdown last week as he has been having a disappointing season compared to expectations--especially considering one or more starting wide receivers has been hurt in all six games. Denver's defense has looked impressive for most of the season and has been particularly solid in the past two weeks--granted, last week was against the reeling Titans passing offense. They allowed 259 passing yards to Derek Carr in Week 1, but have given up less than 240 passing yards in each of their five games since then. On the season, this group is allowing the fewest fantasy points per game (PPR scoring) to wide receivers and third-fewest to quarterbacks. Much of this success can be placed on the back of cornerback Chris Harris Jr., as he has absolutely shut down opposing wide receivers--including big names like Devante Adams, Keenan Allen, and Corey Davis. Where this group can be exploited is at the other two cornerback positions, as there is a very steep drop-off in talent behind Harris Jr. Tyreek Hill may actually miss a lot of coverage from Harris Jr. if he continues lining up from the slot, meaning he should draw some of these favorable matchups against Davontae Harris and Duke Dawson Jr. Travis Kelce also has a favorable matchup as safety Justin Simmons has struggled at times in coverage against tight ends.
