Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 14 vs GB (5 / 42 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Derrius Guice was running well but left the game early with a knee sprain.  He had five carries and was averaging over eight yards per carry.  It is really unfortunate he keep battling injuries because he looks to be an explosive asset for the Washington offense.

2019 Week 13 vs CAR (10 / 129 / 2 rush, 3 / 2 / 8 / 0 rec)

The Redskins' workhorse back on this day, Derrius Guice looked every bit the superstar player the team drafted. His power, footwork and no-nonsense style were on full display throughout as he bullied Carolina defenders at and beyond the line of scrimmage. The offensive line provided an excellent platform, often absorbing all resistance up front and creating a crease for Guice to glide through. Guice had a huge run early on a simple inside handoff, bouncing it outside to the right and scooting up the field before being pushed out of bounds inside the Carolina 10-yard line. Guice rotated at times with Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson, allowing him to stay fresh. He cashed in for two touchdowns - both from the 1-yard line - lowering his pads to finish the runs strongly. With the game nearly out of reach for Carolina, Guice delivered a gut punch of a carry, breaking off the left side, flooring a Panthers defender with a stiff arm before being ruled down at the 1-yard line. Guice was involved sparingly in the passing game as a check down option but looked comfortable in that role.

2019 Week 12 vs DET (10 / 32 / 0 rush, 2 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)

Derrius Guice had a difficult time getting on track today as the offense sputtered against the Lions. He managed to get ten carries but averaged less than four yards per carry for the second consecutive game. As the offense continues to adjust to the rookie quarterback it will be tough to establish a consistent run game. Derrius was also targeted twice in the passing game but didn't have an impact there like last week's big play.

2019 Week 11 vs NYJ (7 / 24 / 0 rush, 2 / 1 / 45 / 1 rec)

Derrius Guice had a combined eight touches in this game but also showed his ability to make plays.  He scored one of the Redskins two touchdowns on a screen pass that went for forty-five yards.  He also added seven carries but the run game was stagnant against the stout Jets run defense.  Derrius could end up being the starter as early as next week being that the Redskins are looking to emphasize player development with some of their younger players.

2019 Week 1 vs PHI (10 / 18 / 0 rush, 3 / 3 / 20 / 0 rec)

Derrius Guice was unable to get on track today as the run game was kept in check. He had ten rushes but only averaged 1.8 yards per carry. Washington's offensive line loss the battle in the trenches and Washington's offense was finding more success through the air. This game was close for over half the game but with so few opportunities in the second half, the offense didn't do much of anything. Derrius was involved in the passing game as well with three receptions. It's clear that he will be a big part of the offense, but they'll need better o-line play for Derrius to make his presence felt. It should also be noted that he didn't quite look like he fully has his burst back so that is something to keep an eye on.
