Derrius Guice was the talk of the 2018 preseason, for his effusive personality off the field and his hard work and impressive work ethic on the field. Unfortunately, Guice tore his ACL in the preseason and missed the season. He also endured a post-surgical infection, which extended his recovery time. The coaching staff expects Guice to be 100% healthy for training camp, in which case fantasy managers can re-acquaint themselves with the powerhouse runner. Guice probably wouldn't have outperformed Saquon Barkley last season, but he was more than capable of emerging as a workhorse, every down back and No. 1 fantasy option. When healthy, Guice has great patience and vision and can break tackles consistently. He's got lateral agility to break into the second level, and the aggressive mentality to win inside battles in short yardage. Adrian Peterson's decision to return for another season complicates Guice's role this year, but he's got the talent to displace Peterson at some point this year, if not in 2020 and beyond. Latest News

Redskins | Coach impressed by Derrius Guice (Fri Aug 23, 11:46 PM) - Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice's performance against the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, Aug. 22, impressed head coach Jay Gruden. 'Looked like he was decisive with his cuts for the most part, ran with some power at times, moved the pile when there wasn't anything there,' Gruden said.

Our View: Guice is an impressive player and incredibly natural as a runner. However, he's coming back from a knee injury that cost him all of his rookie season in 2018. Guice also had a few setbacks during his recovery, so select him knowing the risks. Also know that Washington will use Adrian Peterson and Guice in some form of RBBC this season.

Redskins | Derrius Guice busy Thursday (Thu Aug 22, 10:32 PM) - Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice rushed 11 times for 44 yards and caught one pass for four yards in a 19-7 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, Aug. 22.

Our View: Guice looked great and should be the best thing about an offense that will likely be the worst in the NFC. He's in a three man committee, but his ADP has fallen enough to make him at least worth considering.

Redskins | Derrius Guice scheduled to play Thursday (Mon Aug 19, 03:18 PM) - Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) is scheduled to play Thursday, Aug. 22, in a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Our View: We all know Guice has talent, he just needs to stay healthy so he can put it on full display. This game is likely to be his only action of the preseason.

Redskins | Derrius Guice still waiting for approval (Tue Aug 13, 02:09 PM) - Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) has been participating in practices this summer but has yet to receive clearance to play in a game, and he told ESPN's John Keim on Tuesday, Aug. 13, that he's not sure when he'll play in the preseason.

Our View: Guice has a ton of talent as a runner but a knee injury cost him all of the 2018 season. He missed his rookie season last year and we're excited to see him in his first regular season game action. Guice is back now, but it did take more time than originally thought to recover from his knee injury and there were a few setbacks along the way.
