Week 15: vs Minnesota Vikings - $4000

All TE vs MIN

FBG says: Tough matchup. On the whole, the Chargers have struggled throughout their 5-8 start to the season, but their passing attack is not to blame for these struggles. The Chargers rank top-five in both raw yardage through the air and passing efficiency entering Week 15, and now that their passing game is at full-strength, they pose a tough matchup for even the toughest pass defenses in the league. Philip Rivers may be playing his final games in a Chargers' uniform down the stretch in 2019, but with a capable unit of pass-catchers, featuring Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Hunter Henry, and Austin Ekeler, he has a great chance to go out on a high note. Allen's status as one of the NFL's most productive receivers is damaged by the presence of so many other viable pass-catchers, but he is still a strong option regardless. Williams is the team's primary deep threat, as he leads the NFL with 21.0 yards per reception. Then, underneath, Austin Ekeler is one of the league's premier pass-catching running backs, and Hunter Henry is an elite safety blanket at tight end. From top-to-bottom, this is one of the league's deepest passing attacks, and production gets spread around the unit just as much as any other offense. Minnesota's pass defense has defended the sixth-most pass attempts of any team in the NFL this season, but they have been up for the task, allowing just 5.9 net yards per attempt, the eighth-best mark in the league. The Vikings' pass defense is a well-rounded unit with one glaring weakness at cornerback. Along the defensive front, Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen make up one of the league's best edge-rushing duos, combining for 20.5 sacks between the two of them. Then, at linebacker, Eric Kendricks has grown into his role as one of the best all-around linebackers in the NFL. Kendricks leads the team in pass breakups this season, and his presence in the middle offers unparalleled stability for the Vikings. At safety, Anthony Harris ranks third in the NFL in interceptions, with four on the season, and he teams up with Harrison Smith to comprise one of the league's best pass-defending pairs at the back-end of this defense. Lastly, at cornerback, Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes have struggled mightily this season. These two have regressed from previously impressive levels earlier in their respective careers, and they are the primary reason that the Vikings have allowed 6 opposing pass-catchers to surpass 100 receiving yards this season. Overall, this is a strong unit, but the glaring weak link on the outside leaves them susceptible, even when everyone else handles their respective business. The Chargers' offense is capable of winning this battle; however, they will have their work cut out for themselves, as Minnesota has done a great job limiting the overall damage this season aside from a handful of impressive individual performances.

Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 14 vs JAX (1 / 1 / 14 / 1 rec - 7.9 points, $4000)

Green isn't a featured part of the offense, focusing most of his talents on blocking. He did a nice job of that, particularly on an early Austin Ekeler run and later on giving a little extra push for the Derek Watt score. But with the Chargers up big late, Green got a piece of the receiving pie when he broke into the corner of the end zone untouched for a wide open 14-yard score from Tyrod Taylor.

2019 Week 11 vs KC (1 / 1 / 8 / 0 rec - 1.3 points, $4000)

Green caught just one short pass, an 8-yard gain over the middle that came on a blitz pickup that left him wide open. He was otherwise uninvolved in the gameplan.

2019 Week 8 vs CHI (1 / 1 / 10 / 0 rec - 1.5 points, $4000)

Green showed nice hands to snag a short dumpoff just before it hit the turf. But Hunter Henry again had a busy day from the tight end spot, which is always going to cap Green's upside.

2019 Week 7 vs TEN (1 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec - 1.4 points, $4000)

Green caught one ball, a quick reception over the middle on the play following Hunter Henry leaving after getting dinged up. Henry returned soon after, and Green returned to fantasy irrelevance.

2019 Week 5 vs DEN (1 / 1 / 5 / 0 rec - 1 points, $4000)

Green caught his only target of the game, a short grab over the middle where Rivers was audibly gesturing to Green to expect the ball. Aside from that perceived defensive mismatch, Green was not a part of the passing game at all.

2019 Week 1 vs IND (1 / 1 / 4 / 0 rec - 0.9 points, $4000)

Green had one short sideline catch, coming just after Hunter Henry briefly left the game after banging his knee. In other words, Green is a non-factor in this offensive gameplan.
