Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 6 vs CAR (12 / 10 / 151 / 0 rec - 28.1 points, $6700)

Godwin topped 100 yards again with another outstanding performance. He was second to Mike Evans(17 targets) with 12 targets, but he was much more efficient. With Winston turning the ball over like it was his job, Tampa Bay quickly fell behind and had to ramp up the passing attack. Godwin was able to get open consistently all over the field, though he and Winston couldn't connect deep as the Panthers kept a tight lid on the pass coverage. Godwin showed off some nifty running after the catch after securing 19 yard gain on a WR bubble screen in the 1st quarter. His longest reception was a seam route from Winston that picked up 26 yards in the 4th quarter. Godwin didn't score this week, but he sniffed the end zone in the 4th quarter when he caught a curl route and was tackled at the 2 yard line.

2019 Week 5 vs NO (9 / 7 / 125 / 2 rec - 34.5 points, $6900)

With the Saints game-planning to stop Evans with extra coverage, Godwin was able to work open on short and intermediate routes from the slot, drawing a team high 9 targets that he converted into two touchdowns and 125 yards. He was the only receiver Winston could get anything going with. Godwin capped a late 1st quarter drive with a touchdown, working his way across the field from the right slot where Winston found him behind the linebackers in coverage. Godwin caught a slant in the New Orleans red zone and nearly found the end zone again as he was tackled at the 2 yard line. Peyton Barber eventually finished that drive off with a 2 yard touchdown run. Godwin's longest catch of the day was a 26 yard gain on a deep post route in the 4th quarter. Godwin broke several tackles and scored with a few seconds left in the game on a skinny post from Winston. The final touchdown narrowed the Saints' lead to seven points, but the Bucs couldn't recover the onside kick with less than a minute left in the game.

2019 Week 4 vs LAR (14 / 12 / 172 / 2 rec - 44.2 points, $6000)

Godwin drew the winning matchup this week as Winston peppered him with 14 targets total, twice as many as Mike Evans or any other receiver. Winston hit him up the seam on the first play of the game. Winston hit him on a deep post later in the drive and Godwin was tackled inside the 5 yard line. Godwin caught a bubble screen behind the line of scrimmage and turned in into a nice gain in the 2nd quarter. Godwin was tackled inside the red zone again in the 2nd quarter when he took a deep post all the way to the 3 yard line, but he did manage to cap that drive with a touchdown catch two plays later on an out route from Winston. Godwin scored again on the next drive after Lavonte David returned an interception of Jared Goff down to the 9 yard line. Godwin caught a WR bubble screen behind the line of scrimmage and lowered his shoulder to blast a defensive back on his way to a touchdown at the front pylon. Godwin secured 12 of his 14 targets, posting the best stat line of his career.

2019 Week 3 vs NYG (4 / 3 / 40 / 0 rec - 7 points, $6900)

Godwin was demoted back to his "1b" roll as Mike Evans and Jameis Winston took advantage of a big mismatch with Janoris Jenkins. There weren't many scraps to go around as Winston stayed locked on to Evans to the tune of 190 yards and three touchdowns. Godwin only drew four targets to Evans' fifteen, securing three for 40 yards total. At this point Godwin and Evans have both shown the potential to have big days in this offense, depending on the matchups.

2019 Week 2 vs CAR (9 / 8 / 121 / 1 rec - 29.1 points, $6500)

Godwin was again more effective than Evans, turning nine targets into a team-high eight receptions and 121 yards. Winston hit him on an out route for the first play of the game, with Godwin dodging a tackle and darting up the sideline for extra yards. The two connected on a skinny post for a nice gain later in the 1st. Godwin made a tough catch on a slant route that was thrown behind him at the end of the 1st quarter. Godwin found paydirt again as he split out wide right and got open on a post route for a touchdown late in the 2nd quarter. Godwin got loose on a deep crossing route in the 3rd for his biggest gain of the day, 24 yards.

2019 Week 1 vs SF (6 / 3 / 53 / 1 rec - 14.3 points, $6200)

Godwin shined as Howard turned the ball over and Evans was ineffective. He worked mostly as the slot receiver with Perriman and Evans outside. His first catch showed some nifty athleticism as he secured the ball while simultaneously spinning away from a defender who got to him the same time the ball did. Godwin dodged the tackle and darted up the sideline for extra yardage after the spin. Godwin scored in the third quarter, working his way open on a crossing route in the end zone as Winston scrambled to extend the play. He finished with a team-high six targets and five completions.

Buccaneers | Chris Godwin has outstanding game (Sun Oct 13, 01:57 PM) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin caught 10 passes for 151 yards against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6. He was targeted 12 times during the game.

Our View: Godwin posted a fat stat line as the Bucs were in catch up mode all afternoon. He's been one of the most valuable players in fantasy football and should remain one as long as Jameis Winston is allowed to chuck it around instead of benched, which is no sure thing. Another afternoon like this could be it.

Buccaneers | Chris Godwin limited Wednesday (Wed Oct 9, 03:40 PM) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (hip) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Our View: Godwin has been limited in practice for some time now...and he goes all out on Sunday. Keep starting him as a WR1 and the best part of the Buccaneers offense, especially with Mike Evans getting so much attention from opposing defenses.
