Game Recaps

2008 Week 1 vs MIA (2 / 2 / 19 / 0 rec)

Franks saw only two targets, catching both of them for 19 yards.

2008 Week 4 vs ARI (3 / 2 / 32 / 0 rec)

Franks was targeted four times and came down with two receptions for 32 yards. On one play he was brought down at the one yard line, and he had a touchdown nullified for a holding penalty.

2008 Week 6 vs CIN (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Franks' only target was on Favres' second interception of the game as the pass fell short and into the hands of a Cincinnati defender.

2007 Week 1 vs PHI (6 / 2 / 17 / 0 rec)

Franks had two dropped passes, significantly hurting drives both times. It seemed like Donald Lee got more playing time after the second dropped pass, since Lee was not targeted in the first half and received four targets in the second half. Franks did have one nice shoestring catch in the game, going for a first down.

2007 Week 2 vs NYG (5 / 4 / 20 / 1 rec)

Franks' first catch of the game didn't come until the third quarter, but he made it count by scoring on a two yard touchdown pass. After the touchdown grab, Franks grabbed three more Favre passes for a total of 18 yards.

2007 Week 3 vs SD (4 / 1 / 5 / 1 rec)

Despite not being heavily involved throughout, Franks was directly involved in three very critical plays during the course of the game. He dropped what would have been a sure touchdown late in the first quarter. It would have been a somewhat difficult grab as he was fully extended, but it was certainly a catch that could have and should have been made. He later atoned for that play somewhat by hauling in a five yard touchdown from Favre that put Green Bay up 17-7. He wasn't thrown to again until the fourth quarter, when a Favre pass intended for him in the end zone was batted away on a fourth down pass. While it's clear that Donald Lee is the main receiving option at tight end, it's just as clear that Franks is once again going to be a factor down around the red zone.

2007 Week 4 vs MIN (6 / 4 / 30 / 0 rec)

Franks was a frequent target in the short passing game, his longest reception was 12 yards. He also had two drops of passes that he could have caught and made his final line even better.

2007 Week 5 vs CHI (4 / 3 / 18 / 0 rec)

Franks had three quarters of his targets come in the late part of the game; clearly Favre trusts him.

2007 Week 6 vs WAS (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Franks did not have a catch in this game but was targeted by QB Brett Favre in the end zone. On the second and goal play from the Redskins eight yard line, Favre lofted a pass near the back corner of the end zone. Franks secured the pass but fell out of bounds after contact from the Washington defender. He looked a little shaken up following the play and was carted off later in the fourth quarter with what was reported as a knee injury.

2007 Week 17 vs DET (4 / 3 / 34 / 1 rec)

Franks' first catch went for a gain of 24 yards in the first quarter. His second grab came at the start of the second quarter and went for six yards down to the Lions' four yard line. On the next play, Franks caught his third touchdown of the year.

2006 Week 2 vs NO (7 / 3 / 18 / 0 rec)

Franks had several dropped targets thrown his way and Brett Favre showed his frustration with him on the field. He caught just three passes in the game for 18 yards with no target in the fourth quarter.

2006 Week 3 vs DET (4 / 3 / 39 / 0 rec)

Franks was targeted four times, catching three passes in the second and third quarters. All of his catches were for ten to 17 yards and a first down each. His fourth target would have been for about the same result, but he dropped it.

2006 Week 4 vs PHI (7 / 3 / 32 / 0 rec)

Franks made a 15 yard reception during the Packers' final drive of the first half to set up a field goal try. He dropped a pass later on the same drive. Franks caught two passes in the second half, one of which brought up a first down.

2006 Week 5 vs STL (4 / 2 / 16 / 0 rec)

Franks had an uneventful day, recording two catches for only 16 yards. He was open near the goal line and was signaling Favre for the ball, but Favre was zeroed in on his other tight end.

2006 Week 7 vs MIA (4 / 1 / 18 / 0 rec)

Franks had only one catch for 18 yards and that came in the first half.

2006 Week 8 vs ARI (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Franks started the game but was not targeted at all during the game.

2006 Week 9 vs BUF (3 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Franks dropped two passes thrown to him. He is not playing like his old dependable self this season. He is still a very reliable blocker, but his hands seem to have deteriorated. He never was known as a speed demon and his red zone efficiency has dropped precipitously.

2006 Week 10 vs MIN (2 / 2 / 22 / 0 rec)

Franks finally made a return to the stat line for the Packers by catching two passes for 22 yards in this game.

2006 Week 11 vs NE (3 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)

The veteran was only targeted in the second half and only caught one pass.

2006 Week 12 vs SEA (3 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec)

Franks was targeted in the end zone on the Packers' third drive, but the 27 yard pass was intercepted by Kelly Herndon. Franks caught one pass for a nine yard gain and was only targeted three times in the game.

2006 Week 13 vs NYJ (5 / 3 / 18 / 0 rec)

Franks caught all three of his targets in the game for a total of 18 yards.

2006 Week 14 vs SF (2 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec)

Franks had a quiet afternoon, though he did have a six yard catch erased on a defensive offsides penalty where saving the down was judged to be more important.

2006 Week 15 vs DET (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Franks failed to catch the pass thrown to him in the first quarter.

2006 Week 16 vs MIN (7 / 5 / 43 / 0 rec)

Franks had one of the worst games played by an NFL player in quite some time. The lowlights: he dropped successive passes early on, he fumbled a ball out of bounds, he fumbled at the goal line to cost his team a touchdown (and almost the game), and was called for a holding penalty on what would have been a first down screen pass to Ahman Green that would've set up first and goal at the four. Instead, the Franks hold backed the team up to the 27 yard line, and Dave Rayner's 44 yard field goal bailed out Franks.

2006 Week 17 vs CHI (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Franks was non-existent for the Packers this week after a dreadful game last week against the Vikings. His lone target was an end zone target but the pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage and nearly intercepted by the Bears' Brian Urlacher.

2005 Week 1 vs DET (6 / 4 / 27 / 0 rec)

Franks remains a favorite target of QB Brett Favre. Favre often will check down to Franks or look towards him in the red zone. Franks caught four balls for six to eight yards each, and also gained a pass interference call for six more yards and a fresh set of downs for his team.

2005 Week 2 vs CLE (4 / 3 / 15 / 0 rec)

Franks did not catch a pass until the second half, and started to gain some momentum until he suffered a left leg injury on his third catch over the middle. Upon being tackled, his leg was at a very awkward angle, and Franks was down on the field for a significant length of time. Packers officials initially said Franks had a knee injury but HC Mike Sherman said after the game that it was a hip injury.

2005 Week 5 vs NO (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Franks dressed for the game as was listed as active but did not play.

2005 Week 7 vs MIN (3 / 3 / 38 / 0 rec)

Franks returned to the Packers' line up after missing the last three games with a knee injury. He contributed with three catches for 38 yards as the Packers shuffled tight ends throughout the game. Franks had a nice grab for 24 yards that put Green Bay in the red zone and was on the receiving end of a 14 yard pass from running back Tony Fisher.

2005 Week 8 vs CIN (10 / 7 / 62 / 1 rec)

Franks did a nice job of working the middle of the field offering a big target. Of note, Franks made a nice catch in the second quarter deep down the right seam setting up the Fisher touchdown. Franks took a huge hit from the safety, but bounced right up and held onto the pass. His touchdown in the fourth quarter came off play action at the goal line. Franks did a solid job of selling run and was able to break free in the back of the end zone. He used his size and strength to wrestle the ball away from the defensive back.

2005 Week 9 vs PIT (7 / 3 / 22 / 0 rec)

Franks was sought out twice in the end zone, but was overthrown both times. He finished with three catches for 22 yards.

2005 Week 10 vs ATL (5 / 4 / 34 / 0 rec)

Franks was an end zone target but the pass was overthrown by Favre with Franks clearly defended. He finished with four catches for 34 yards.

2005 Week 11 vs MIN (1 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec)

Franks had one reception.

2005 Week 12 vs PHI (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

2005 Week 13 vs CHI (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Franks was injured as he reached for a pass in the first quarter. His back was bent awkwardly on the hit and he did not return.
