Recent Game Summaries
2018 Week 17 vs MIA (5 / 4 / 21 / 1 rec)
Robert Foster capped a strong second half of the season with a solid performance on Sunday against the Dolphins. Foster had a quiet start to the game but became more involved later. He drew a defensive pass interference along the perimeter and was used on a jet sweep type pass play. Foster also caught a well thrown back shoulder throw in the end zone for a touchdown. Foster had another catch in the red zone on a slant where he was tackled at the spot of the catch. He also showed good hand strength on a well-covered curl route, where it appeared he dislocated a finger. Foster was a revelation for the Bills as an undrafted rookie free agent and will look to maintain a strong role in the Buffalo offense in his sophomore season.
2018 Week 16 vs NE (7 / 4 / 52 / 0 rec)
Zay Jones had a quiet first half before salvaging his game with multiple catches in garbage time. Jones has struggled to elevate his game after the trade of release of Kelvin Benjamin and the continued emergence of Robert Foster. Jones managed a deep touchdown when the game was all but over, on a busted coverage where two defenders ran into each other, which left Jones wide open in the end zone. Jones will face Miami next week.
2018 Week 15 vs DET (5 / 4 / 108 / 1 rec)
Robert Foster continued his recent stretch of good play against Detroit. Foster got open on a deep crossing route for a long touchdown on what turned out to be the game winning touchdown. Foster has developed into a good deep threat for Buffalo, catching another deep crossing route, a deep corner, and nearly scoring a second touchdown on a corner route. Foster was open on the play but dragged down inside the five-yard line on a defensive pass interference that set up Buffalo's first score. He will face New England next week and be a high upside but risky play with a rookie quarterback in Foxboro in the championship week of fantasy playoffs.
2018 Week 14 vs NYJ (8 / 7 / 104 / 0 rec)
Robert Foster bounced back after a quiet week last week. Foster has had three out of the past four games with 94 yards or more. Foster's prior workload was largely deep balls, but Sunday was an expansion of his usage, as the Jets played safeties deep to prevent the deep passes. Foster worked the perimeter of the field, with out routes, comeback routes, and a back shoulder catch that turned into a big play. The Jets worked a lot of two deep safeties to prevent Josh Allen from making deep throws, which could be a tactic future opponents adopt, so Foster's continued development as a perimeter receiver is important to watch, especially with more opportunities after Kelvin Benjamin was waived.
2018 Week 13 vs MIA (4 / 1 / 27 / 0 rec)
Robert Foster had strong games in recent weeks but was quiet through three quarters against the Jets. Foster should have been able to walk in for a 65-yard touchdown where he beat the Jets defense down the field, but Josh Allen overthrew him. Foster did catch a good dig route later in the fourth quarter. Foster is a deep threat and can capitalize on Allen's big arm but is a boom-bust type option in the offense.
2018 Week 12 vs JAX (3 / 2 / 94 / 1 rec)
Robert Foster continued his recent stretch of strong play, catching a deep touchdown when he got over the top of Jacksonville's secondary. He also caught a deep crossing route where he was hit as a defenseless receiver and had to leave the game in the concussion protocol. He will look to return next week against Miami.
2018 Week 10 vs NYJ (4 / 3 / 105 / 0 rec)
Robert Foster had his best game of his career against the Jets. He had three long receptions along the perimeter, including the first play from scrimmage. With Zay Jones as the only stable option in the passing game and Kelvin Benjamin and Terrelle Pryor struggling, there is room for Foster to continue to see a role in the offense. He has a bye next week before playing Jacksonville in week 12.
2018 Week 3 vs MIN (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Robert Foster was held without a catch but saw two deep targets. He was underthrown on a post and later overthrown on a deep go route where he had a step on his defender.
