Week 14: vs New York Jets

All WR vs NYJ

FBG says: Good matchup. Josh Allen is impressing with his natural talents, to say the least. Leading one of the most anemic and talent-starved offenses in recent history, Allen is flashing big-time playmaking ability, mostly with his legs. But his arm remains a complete fantasy non-factor. Allen can make big NFL throws, but is exceptionally raw, completing just 53% of his rookie throws and sitting 33rd of 34 qualifying passers in adjusted net yards per attempt. It's telling that last week's 18-of-33, 231-yard, 2-touchdown line was his best since a nearly identical performance in Week 2. Allen still struggles for consistency and throws to the league's weakest receiving corps - Zay Jones is on pace to lead the Bills in receiving with 613 yards. Kelvin Benjamin looks all but done as an NFL contributor and was released this week, which should be addition by subtraction. His snaps and role as a supposed downfield threat will be absorbed by Robert Foster, who's contributed a few big downfield catches of late. Still, there's far too little weaponry here for Allen to find any real passing production. His progress has meant much more to the Bills than to the fantasy world, and there's no reason to expect sudden bursts of volume or efficiency. The Jets pass defense has been an up-and-down unit all season, and are currently mired in a down moment. The pass rush, pieced together with athletic youngsters capable of stretching the pocket, is consistently hassling quarterbacks. But there are real coverage problems downfield, where cornerbacks Morris Claiborne and Trumaine Johnson have struggled of late. Over the last 3 weeks, five different wideouts have registered 70 yards or more in this matchup. They desperately miss free safety Marcus Maye, who'd looked fantastic if injury-plagued in his second season. Perhaps small but dynamic Terrence Brooks, who's always flashed big playmaking ability in centerfield, will claim more of Maye's snaps and provide some downfield help going forward.

Recent Game Summaries

2018 Week 13 vs MIA (4 / 1 / 27 / 0 rec)

Robert Foster had strong games in recent weeks but was quiet through three quarters against the Jets. Foster should have been able to walk in for a 65-yard touchdown where he beat the Jets defense down the field, but Josh Allen overthrew him. Foster did catch a good dig route later in the fourth quarter. Foster is a deep threat and can capitalize on Allen's big arm but is a boom-bust type option in the offense.

2018 Week 12 vs JAX (3 / 2 / 94 / 1 rec)

Robert Foster continued his recent stretch of strong play, catching a deep touchdown when he got over the top of Jacksonville's secondary. He also caught a deep crossing route where he was hit as a defenseless receiver and had to leave the game in the concussion protocol. He will look to return next week against Miami.

2018 Week 10 vs NYJ (4 / 3 / 105 / 0 rec)

Robert Foster had his best game of his career against the Jets. He had three long receptions along the perimeter, including the first play from scrimmage. With Zay Jones as the only stable option in the passing game and Kelvin Benjamin and Terrelle Pryor struggling, there is room for Foster to continue to see a role in the offense. He has a bye next week before playing Jacksonville in week 12.

2018 Week 3 vs MIN (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

Robert Foster was held without a catch but saw two deep targets. He was underthrown on a post and later overthrown on a deep go route where he had a step on his defender.
