WR Brian Finneran - Free Agent
|6-5, 208||Born: 1-31-1976||College: Villanova||Drafted: ---|
2010 Week 2 vs ARI (3 / 3 / 31 / 1 rec)
Finneran had a beautiful touchdown catch on a fade route by Matt Ryan. He used his 6'5" frame to soar over the defender and come down with the ball. Finneran is not worth a start in any format though, as he just gets too few looks to merit consideration. But he's an excellent possession receiver for Matt Ryan
2010 Week 5 vs CLE (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Finneran was basically invisible and should become irrelevant with the return of Michael Jenkins this week.
2010 Week 7 vs CIN (2 / 2 / 8 / 1 rec)
The wily old veteran does it again, as he caught the dart of a touchdown pass from Matt Ryan on the first drive. That was his main contribution on the day, but it is useful for Ryan to have a savvy veteran such as Finneran with such reliable hands.
2010 Week 10 vs BAL (3 / 2 / 16 / 0 rec)
Brian Finneran was targeted a handful of times against the Falcons, primarily on plays where the defense had rolled a safety to Roddy White's side of the field before the snap. On these plays, Finneran was often lined up against
2010 Week 11 vs STL (3 / 1 / 12 / 1 rec)
Finneran did a superb job of getting open in the back of the endzone for a 12 yard TD in the first quarter. Matt Ryan has a bunch of options in the redzone, and Finneran is often the overlooked offensive threat, and he made the Rams pay early.
2010 Week 17 vs CAR (2 / 2 / 26 / 0 rec)
Finneran worked the middle of the field, catching short passes and, proving hard to take down, getting his yards after the catch. He was the target on a long sideline pattern to the goal line, which he couldn't reach but did get the pass interference call, setting up an easy touchdown for Michael Turner.
2010 Week 19 vs GB (6 / 4 / 47 / 0 rec)
Finneran had a few catches late in the game, when the Falcons were down big and just trying to make it respectable. But overall, the rangy possession receiver wasn't much of a factor when the game had meaning.
2009 Week 3 vs NE (3 / 2 / 23 / 0 rec)
Finneran had a few nice conversions on short crossing routes, and he did get a red zone target, but like Marty Booker, he is just a role player in this passing offense.
2009 Week 5 vs SF (1 / 1 / 8 / 0 rec)
Finneran made the most of his one target, converting a first down with strong running after a catch to carry a tackler a few yards past the first down marker.
2009 Week 6 vs CHI (2 / 1 / 4 / 0 rec)
Finneran entered the game in the 2nd half and caught a nice 4 yd pass in the red zone. Typical quiet game for him.
2009 Week 7 vs DAL (3 / 2 / 22 / 0 rec)
Finneran made a few catches and ran hard after the catch. He is more sure-handed than Michael Jenkins and he might get more targets if Jenkins play continues to be subpar.
2009 Week 13 vs PHI (1 / 1 / 14 / 0 rec)
Brian Finneran had one 14-yard catch late in the game against the Eagles long after the game was decided.
2009 Week 14 vs NO (4 / 2 / 25 / 0 rec)
Seldom used 3rd down receiver Brian Finneran had a mixed-bag game doing his thing in week 14. He dropped a 3rd down pass during the first drive of the game, but later made a great twisting-leaping reception down the sideline for a 3rd down conversion. Not a viable option in the deepest of leagues.
2008 Week 3 vs KC (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
The veteran wideout did not show up on the score sheet, but was targeted once on a short route.
2008 Week 4 vs CAR (5 / 2 / 10 / 0 rec)
Finneran, who was playing for the injured Laurent Robinson, caught two five yard passes. He dropped a pass that would have set Atlanta up with a third and short on a drive that stalled in Carolina territory.
2008 Week 6 vs CHI (4 / 3 / 29 / 0 rec)
Brian Finneran caught three of his four targets for 29 yards. He did drop a pass, but Ryan showed confidence throwing to him in tight coverage.
2008 Week 8 vs PHI (6 / 3 / 20 / 0 rec)
The veteran Finneran was used as a possession type receiver and caught most of his balls on third down. He also was targeted twice in the red zone. Unfortunately, he dropped a sure touchdown late in the fourth quarter just prior to Roddy White scoring his second touchdown of the day.
2008 Week 9 vs OAK (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
The popular Falcons veteran was targeted once in the first quarter but did not make the catch. He had beaten DeAngelo Hall down the right sideline but the pass was under thrown.
2008 Week 10 vs NO (3 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)
Finneran was only able to catch one target thrown in his direction.
2008 Week 11 vs DEN (5 / 4 / 44 / 0 rec)
WR Brian Finneran was a key target for QB Matt Ryan. He converted on three third down receptions. He also returned punts.
2008 Week 14 vs NO (4 / 2 / 8 / 1 rec)
Finneran is a good fit for the role that he plays in the Falcons receiving corps. He is the third receiver, and at times the most reliable pass catcher. His first reception was a fantastic grab along the right sideline in the end zone. Matt Ryan threw the ball high, where he would have the best chance to come down with it, and he barely came down with both feet inbounds. His second reception came on a bullet pass that split two defenders.
2008 Week 16 vs MIN (1 / 1 / 13 / 0 rec)
Brian Finneran's only target was for thirteen yards. He wasn't looked at the rest of the day.
2008 Week 17 vs STL (1 / 1 / 12 / 0 rec)
The popular veteran was not a factor as he caught just one pass for 12 yards and made one fair catch on a punt.
2008 Week 18 vs ARI (2 / 2 / 11 / 0 rec)
The popular veteran caught two short passes for 11 yards.
2005 Week 1 vs PHI (2 / 2 / 12 / 0 rec)
Both of Finneran's targets came on third down plays. The first one was a completed ball that Finneran almost screwed up badly. He had the yardage for the first down, but proceeded to run backwards across the first down line looking to escape and gain extra yardage. He barely managed to gain the necessary yardage on the play. His other target was on the sideline on a third and eight play. His seven yard reception was just short of the marker.
2005 Week 2 vs SEA (5 / 5 / 35 / 1 rec)
Finneran not only caught a short five yard touchdown pass, he was also targeted with a lob from QB Matt Schaub late in the game. Finneran was able to draw a pass interference penalty setting up RB TJ Duckett's one yard touchdown run. Five of Finneran's targets came late in the game when the Falcon offense started to click.
2005 Week 3 vs BUF (7 / 4 / 57 / 0 rec)
Finneran dropped the first ball that came his way but did better on the next drive by grabbing a 17 yard reception for a first down. He was targeted in the end zone but the ball was thrown high and went through his hands as he tried to reach it. He made another 17 yard catch to convert another third and long on the drive that ended in the Duckett touchdown. Finneran ended the day as the leading Falcons' receiver with 57 yards.
2005 Week 4 vs MIN (5 / 3 / 31 / 0 rec)
Finneran led the Falcons' receivers with three catches for 31 yards. His first catch put the Falcons inside the ten yard line setting up Duckett's touchdown run. He also contributed with a nice 15 yard grab that put Atlanta in Minnesota territory prior to Dunn's 37 yard touchdown burst.
2005 Week 5 vs NE (6 / 5 / 103 / 0 rec)
Finneran caught an early 53 yard reception (a career best) and received consistent looks thereafter, but was never in much of a position to score another touchdown or match the early productivity. He did manage to snag Atlanta's two point conversion to tie the game on a play that was designed specifically to go to him, so it's a good sign that the team focuses on getting him the ball at times.
2005 Week 6 vs NO (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Finneran saw only one pass come his way, quite a difference from his 100+ yard performance last week when QB Matt Schaub was at the helm. Finneran was targeted in the first quarter on a pass of about ten yards and had the ball go off of his hands.
2005 Week 7 vs NYJ (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Finneran, who seems to be head coach Mora's favorite receiver, did not catch a pass. He had a drop on a nicely thrown pass by Vick that would have gone for a first down on third and long. Vick tried to sneak a deep ball to Finneran on a third and one, but was off target.
2005 Week 9 vs MIA (11 / 8 / 92 / 1 rec)
Finneran hooked up with QB Michael Vick twice in the first quarter picking up two first downs. In the second quarter Finneran caught what appeared to be a touchdown pass that was called back by a holding penalty. However, two plays later Vick went right back to Finneran on a slant for the touchdown. Finneran was open deep behind the defense just before half time, but was overthrown on the play. He continued his strong showing in the third quarter with two more quick catches. One was on a crossing route, and the other was hitch. However, at the end of the drive Finneran had a chance to pull in his second touchdown on a fade, but dropped the ball after it hit him in the hands. Finneran finished up his best game of the season with two short grabs in the fourth quarter.
2005 Week 10 vs GB (6 / 4 / 50 / 0 rec)
Finneran led the Falcons' receivers with four catches for 50 yards. He had a couple of nice diving grabs in the game and collected 32 receiving yards during Atlanta's final scoring drive. Finneran also added a two point conversion to bring Atlanta to within eight points.
2005 Week 11 vs TB (4 / 3 / 40 / 0 rec)
After a break out game against the Dolphins, Finneran has started to make his presence known as a Falcons' receiver. Even though Vick had a big game in terms of yards, Finneran had a quiet but efficient performance catching three of the four passes thrown his way with the longest reception coming on a 20 yard pass from Vick at the beginning of the third quarter, eventually setting up a touchdown pass to Alge Crumpler.
2005 Week 12 vs DET (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Finneran saw his only target at the end of the first Falcons' drive in the corner of the end zone, but QB Michael Vick overthrew the pass and Finneran had no chance to make a play on the ball.
2005 Week 13 vs CAR (7 / 4 / 31 / 0 rec)
Finneran saw his first target at the start of the second quarter. He leapt high in the air on the sideline and pulled down a 12 yard reception barely keeping his toes in bounds. He followed that up with a short three yard catch on third down that was just short of the marker. Finneran saw three of his targets late in the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach, including one pass that was intercepted.
2005 Week 14 vs NO (3 / 1 / 36 / 0 rec)
Finneran made a fantastic 36 yard grab along the sideline. He was also targeted in the end zone, but the ball was knocked out of his hands.
2005 Week 15 vs CHI (11 / 6 / 75 / 0 rec)
He was the only viable target for Vick in the game, collecting 75 yards on 11 targets. None of his passes came in the red zone, but he was clearly Vick's top target on third down plays as three of his completions netted first downs on third and long.
2005 Week 16 vs TB (2 / 1 / 4 / 0 rec)
Finneran was not a big factor, finishing with one catch for four yards.
2005 Week 17 vs CAR (7 / 4 / 45 / 0 rec)
Finneran is still officially considered the #3 WR in Atlanta, but he was targeted eight times, second only to WR Roddy White. Finneran caught four passes for short range, ranging between seven and 14 yards on each and gaining three first downs. He also caught a two point conversion from QB Schaub after the only Falcon touchdown.
