2019 Week 12 vs PIT (12 / 26 / 192 / 1 / 0 pass, 2 / 8 / 0 rush)

The Bengals were trying to set up a screen but Giovani Bernard was grabbed as he tried to slip out. Finley just held the ball and fumbled after taking a big hit from behind. The Bengals recovered but lost 10 yards on the play. Indecisiveness and holding onto the ball too long plagued Finley throughout the game. He has to get the ball out faster knowing he is playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. He took a sack after double pumping in the pocket. Finley had a completion of 47 yards off of play action to Tyler Boyd. He lofted it up into coverage and Boyd went up and made a spectacular play on it. The next play, he gave Boyd another chance against tight coverage and Boyd again went up and grabbed it, this time for a 15-yard touchdown. Finley opened the second half with two horrible throws. He had time in the pocket and Boyd open over the middle and bounced it five yards behind him. The next play he had Alex Erickson and threw a duck that didn't get anywhere near his receiver. Finley had Erickson wide open streaking down the sideline for what would have been a huge gain and possibly even a touchdown and just sailed the pass out of bounds on a dreadful throw. Finley threw it two yards too far to the inside on a deep out to Boyd. Instead of an easy completion, it was almost picked off. Finley had the ball twice with a chance to lead a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter. The first ended in a three-and-out with back-to-back passes into coverage that probably should have been intercepted. The second chance ended when Finley held onto the ball forever before finally being stripped from behind for the turnover. Finley was so bad he forced the coaching staff to go back to Andy Dalton or risk losing the locker room.

2019 Week 11 vs OAK (13 / 31 / 115 / 0 / 1 pass, 3 / 47 / 0 rush)

Pass protection was a major issue for the Bengals offense. Finley took five sacks and was regularly forced out of the pocket due to pressure. On the opening possession of the game, the defensive end blew right past left tackle John Jerry and knocked the ball out of Finley's hand as he started the passing motion. The Raiders recovered. Finley's second turnover came on a fourth-quarter interception. He was forced to scramble to buy time. He directed traffic and tried to fit one in to Alex Erickson but didn't put enough air on it, which allowed a Raiders cornerback to step in front of the receiver and pick it off. He had a couple other throws to the outside that defensive backs were able to undercut that were almost interceptions. His lack of zip on passes outside the hashes might be a problem. Finley did make some positive plays despite pressure. He scrambled up the middle for a 24-yard gain early and tucked it and ran for a 17-yard pickup when nobody was open on a play-action bootleg pass. He was able to hit a couple nice gains after scrambling to avoid pressure as well.

2019 Week 10 vs BAL (16 / 30 / 167 / 1 / 1 pass, 5 / 22 / 0 rush)

Finley showed potential but the entire Bengals offense was overmatched against a good Ravens defense. Finley threw a bad interception in the second quarter, with Marcus Peters jumping a short out route and taking it for an 89-yard touchdown. Finley showed some mettle by coming right back out and leading a 70-yard touchdown drive on the next possession. He hit Auden Tate for three big gains on the drive and finished it off with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Eifert. The two areas where Finley was arguably an upgrade over Dalton were athleticism and pocket presence. He was able to tuck it and run, picking up 16 yards on an early scramble. He also did a nice job moving within the pocket to buy more time and didn't seem to panic behind a bad offensive line. With the Ravens blitzing up the middle, he slid left and hit Boyd over the middle for a gain of 24.
