TE Derek Fine - Free Agent
|6-2, 251||Born: 8-24-1983||College: Kansas||Drafted: Round 4, pick|
2009 Week 3 vs NO (9 / 5 / 34 / 0 rec)
Fine drew in as a starter this week due to starting TE Shawn Nelson's injury. The result was a whopping nine targets, though it seemed that each and every one of those was a check-down pass from Edwards while under pressure. To his credit, he caught the majority, but didn't do anything much after the catch. In PPR leagues, you could do worse, but don't get too excited.
2009 Week 4 vs MIA (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
The tight ends were leaned on to help stop the pass rush (not that it helped much) and were not targeted in the passing game at all.
2009 Week 5 vs CLE (3 / 1 / 8 / 0 rec)
Fine was a last option, and one of his targets was an out-of-bounds toss.
2009 Week 8 vs HOU (2 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec)
Fine caught one of his two targets for nine yards in week 8. He is not an option in the deepest of leagues at this point.
2008 Week 9 vs NYJ (4 / 4 / 43 / 1 rec)
The rookie tight end had a great game as he caught all four of his targets for 43 yards against New York. Running a lot of double tight end formations Fine took advantage of his opportunity by catching the only touchdown of the game for the Bills. He took an eight yard route and sat in the front of the end zone where Edwards was able to zip a quick pass to him for the big score.
2008 Week 12 vs KC (1 / 1 / 14 / 0 rec)
The reserve tight end caught his only target in the third quarter for 14 yards. While primarily a backup to both Royal and Schouman, Fine has played enough to earn a varsity letter.
2008 Week 13 vs SF (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Fine's one target was in the end zone but Edwards' pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage.
2008 Week 15 vs NYJ (2 / 2 / 23 / 0 rec)
Fine was only thrown to twice in the game, but managed to bring in both receptions, good for 11 and 12 yards.
