Evans has terrific speed that can help the Titans ground game in open space, draw plays, and selected gap-style runs. He must learn to finish stronger. Evans will compete for the complementary scatback role this year and it will give him a chance to produce by necessity if Derrick Henry gets hurt. - Matt Waldman

Summary

The Titans were thought to be looking for a new running back in the Draft, but few predicted they would use a third-round pick to address their need. They selected Darrynton Evans of Appalachian State. Evans is a threat when he reaches the open field with the ball and is already a better receiver than many of his rookie counterparts in this class. It's likely the Titans will have Evans on kick and punt return duties, a role where they've lacked a dynamic threat like Evans for some time. He'll reprise the role of Dion Lewis in the offense, giving Derrick Henry a breather on certain early downs and becoming the passing downs running back. While it is unlikely that he'll reach fantasy relevance in year one, he would certainly become worth a roster spot if Derrick Henry were to miss significant time with injury. (May 7)
