WR Patrick Edwards - Free Agent
|5-9, 175||Born: 10-25-1988||College: Houston||Drafted: ---|
2013 Week 1 vs MIN (3 / 3 / 30 / 0 rec)
Edwards saw situational snaps and caught all three of his targets on similar slant routes. On one occasion, Edwards made the catch against tight coverage. He was not able to get free after the catch against the Vikings for additional yardage. Nate Burleson saw significantly more snaps than the rookie Edwards.
2013 Week 5 vs GB (5 / 2 / 16 / 0 rec)
Edwards saw five targets, a career-high, in his first action since Week two. Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson both missed this game against Green Bay, so there were more targets to go around for Edwards and the other ancillary weapons. Edwards had one deep target with the potential for a touchdown, but the defensive back tipped the pass away. On a wide receiver screen, he eluded the first would-be tackler for a ten-yard gain. In garbage time, Edwards added a back shoulder timing route for a short gain. Edwards remains a situational player as even recently-signed Kevin Ogletree had more relative success this week. For his diminutive size, Edwards has not shown enough ability to separate against man coverage and the chemistry with Mathew Stafford still needs work.
2013 Week 6 vs CLE (3 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Edwards saw select downfield targets against Cleveland with minimal success. Two of his targets were tipped away by defensive backs, including one that turned into a costly interception at the goal line. Edwards did not make a strong effort when the ball was in the air. Right before the first half ended, Edwards dropped a diving attempt down the field. He had both arms around the ball, but could not control it for the big gain. Edwards is still struggling to establish himself as a dependable secondary receiver in the offense.
