RB Joe Echemandu - Free Agent
|5-10, 226||Born: 11-21-1980||College: California||Drafted: Round 7, pick|
2007 Week 8 vs SD (10 / 62 / 0 rush, 2 / 2 / 11 / 0 rec)
While fill-in starter Ron Dayne looked slow and indecisive, Echemandu lit a spark in the Houston offense during the time he was in. He showed a nice burst inside and hit the hole hard. When he saw an opening, he darted to it and he was often three or four yards upfield before a San Diego defender even realized he had made his move. And these carries weren't simply late-game garbage time carries, either. He was alternating with Dayne right from the beginning of the contest. Echemandu is a fairly unknown commodity on the fantasy football landscape, but with the way he performed versus the way Ron Dayne performed, it's likely that Echemandu is looking to stake his claim as the main back until Ahman Green is healthy enough to return. One thing to keep an eye on is the fact that Echemandu briefly left the game after limping off gingerly with a leg issue of some kind. He returned soon after and didn't show any ill effects, but he certainly appeared to have a bit of a wild running style that could lead to some extra punishment from defenders.
2007 Week 11 vs NO (1 / 2 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Echemandu lost a fumble on his only carry of the game.
