Recent Game Summaries

2018 Week 17 vs PHI (4 / 2 / 33 / 0 rec - 4.3 points, $5100)

Doctson was the leading receiver for Washington, but the moniker meant little in the blowout loss to Philadelphia with a mere two receptions and 33 yards. Doctson made a nice play on the ball down the seam for 20 yards on his notable catch, but his other reception was buried in garbage time. Doctson had little competition on the depth chart in 2018 yet failed to carve out much production as his rookie contract trudges on as a middling former first-round draft pick.

2018 Week 16 vs TEN (6 / 3 / 30 / 0 rec - 4.5 points, $0)

Josh Doctson caught three of his six targets for thirty yards. All of Josh's catches came in the first half and struggled to contribute thereafter. Josh threw a couple of errant passes that if accurate would have gone for big plays in the second half. As an outside receiver Josh has struggled to remain a factor as the offense tends to utilize passes over the middle.

2018 Week 15 vs JAX (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec - 0 points, $5500)

Josh Doctson did not record a catch on two targets. The Washington offense was extremely watered down and Josh didn't throw outside of the numbers much. As the offense has crumbled, Josh has struggled to find consistent production.

2018 Week 14 vs NYG (5 / 4 / 84 / 0 rec - 10.4 points, $5400)

Josh Doctson gathered most of his production with the game out of hand. He had eighty-four yards on five catches. His biggest play came on a fifty yard reception where he was tackled at the goal line. Josh wasn't much of a factor throughout the game but managed to get a few looks in the fourth quarter. The offense was stalled all game so his ability to contribute was limited.

2018 Week 13 vs PHI (5 / 3 / 51 / 0 rec - 6.6 points, $5400)

Josh Doctson led all Washington receivers in yardage and targets. He only had three receptions but he made the most of them by providing chunk plays. He was able to gain separation in the Eagles below average secondary but Washington could not take advantage. Josh has been involved in the passing game much more of late.

2018 Week 12 vs DAL (10 / 6 / 66 / 0 rec - 9.6 points, $5300)

Josh Doctson tied his highest reception total of the season with six. He also had a team high ten targets. However, it didn't add up to much production as he only added sixty-six yards for the game. Colt missed Josh on two chunk plays that could have inflated his yardage and overall production. Colt missed Josh on an endzone attempt as well. Josh's inability to gain separation in coverage is still an issue and results in target inefficiency. Considering he is a big target it was encouraging to see him more involved the last couple of weeks.

2018 Week 11 vs HOU (7 / 3 / 32 / 0 rec - 4.7 points, $5500)

Josh Doctson had three catches for thirty-two yards and broke his two game touchdown streak. The passing game was struggling all game as he received seven targets and unable to catch half. Josh's inability to separate in coverage makes for too many contested catches. He will now be looking to connect with his new quarterback Colt McCoy for the rest of the year.

2018 Week 10 vs TB (4 / 4 / 46 / 1 rec - 12.6 points, $4900)

Josh Doctson had his second consecutive productive outing. He had four catches for forty-six yards and a touchdown. This was the first game he caught all of his targets as well. As Washington continues to try featuring him in the redzone he caught his 2nd consecutive touchdown. Alex found Josh in the back of the endzone in the third quarter to take full control of the game. It seems he is starting to find his connection with Alex in the 2nd half of the season.

2018 Week 9 vs ATL (6 / 3 / 31 / 1 rec - 10.6 points, $4900)

Josh Doctson was finally able to convert on an endzone target versus the Falcons. Alex threw a jump ball type of fade to Josh in the 2nd quarter for Washington's first touchdown of the game. Josh only had three catches on the day and was largely ineffective after his first catch. He isn't typically one of their 'go-to' guys between the 20's. However he was targeted six times and Alex did miss him on a deep attempt downfield. He also had a drop that would have resulted in a first down.

2018 Week 8 vs NYG (5 / 5 / 49 / 0 rec - 7.4 points, $4900)

Josh Doctson had his most productive game of the season for receptions and yardage. This was the most in sync he looked with Alex all year as he caught each of his five targets. Josh had three catches that were more than ten yards down field which also displayed his ability to gain separation. If he can get more consistent separation, Alex will continue to gain trust in his abilities. With the lack of talent in the receiving core Washington could really use an awakening with Josh's potential production. Washington was only in the red zone twice today so they didn't have much opportunity to use him there. Gruden has mentioned using him as a red zone threat but that hasn't come to fruition as of yet.

2018 Week 7 vs DAL (6 / 3 / 42 / 0 rec - 5.7 points, $4600)

Josh Doctson had one of his better games of the season as he recorded three receptions for forty-two yards. He was targeted six times but he and Alex are still having trouble connecting downfield. It was encouraging to see him more involved in the offense as Washington can really use his talents in the passing game. He wasn't targeted in the red zone which is where they'd like to get him involved the most.

2018 Week 6 vs CAR (6 / 3 / 20 / 0 rec - 3.5 points, $4600)

Josh Doctson wasn't very effective in this game as he turned six targets into just twenty yards. Alex misfired a few times when targeting Josh but most of the passes were short routes. Alex took two shots downfield to Josh but they weren't able to connect. He will have to start getting more chances in the redzone in order to have more effective games.

2018 Week 3 vs GB (3 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec - 0 points, $5500)

Josh Doctson failed to record a catch in this game as he was targeted 3 times. Alex tried to connect with Josh deep down the sideline for a thirty yard pass but they were unable to convert. Josh's role in the offense is highly inconsistent and he can't be trusted for redzone looks either.

2018 Week 2 vs IND (7 / 4 / 37 / 0 rec - 5.7 points, $5700)

Josh Doctson had a quiet day as he totaled four catches for less than forty yards. He managed to get 7 targets and two of those were towards the endzone. Josh has primarily been a redzone threat and if he doesn't score his days can look like this.

2018 Week 1 vs ARI (3 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec - 1.6 points, $5700)

Josh Doctson was a forgotten man in Washington's offense as he only managed one catch for eleven yards. Josh has been talked up as the primary redzone threat along with Jordan Reed, but his number wasn't called in this game. Josh's role in this offense remains unclear.
