Week 6: vs Los Angeles Chargers

All TE vs LAC

FBG says: Good matchup. Baker Mayfield continues to electrify the city of Cleveland as he came out and threw for 342 yards last week against a very strong Ravens secondary. This is a Browns receiving group that is hindered by the loss of Rashard Higgins with an MCL injury which has forced Derrick Willies to step into the starting role. Jarvis Landry continues to be the focal point of this offense, but really this is a unit that spreads the ball around which is good to see from a rookie quarterback. The Browns are trying to get David Njoku and Duke Johnson more involved in the passing game and we are starting to see signs of this for Njoku who is averaging 5.5 receptions and 60.5 yards over his last two games, but Duke Johnson continues to be just talk at this point. Hue Jackson has repeatedly said that they want to get Duke the ball more including this week, but this is a believe it when you see it type of situation as we've been hearing this since the start of the season. The Chargers secondary continues to be a unit that has struggled so far in comparison to 2017. A unit that was one of the top units in the NFL in 2017 has allowed 270 yards net yards passing and the 9th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. There really are three issues on this defense so far this season and the first is that Joey Bosa continues to miss time which impacts the pass rush giving the opposing quarterback additional time to throw. The second is that Casey Hayward who was one of the best corners in football in 2017 is not playing at the All-Pro level that he played at last season. The final issue with the defense is that after 2017's abysmal performance stopping the run, the Chargers are focusing more on stopping the run and have done a great job doing so, but without an elite pass rusher and elite corner is leaving them susceptible to the pass.
