Week 14: at Oakland Raiders - $5000

All WR vs OAK

FBG says: Good matchup. Ryan Tannehill continues to lead the red hot Titans to success despite what has been a pretty inconsistent passing offense from a fantasy perspective. While Tannehill has passed for two touchdowns in three straight games and has multiple passing touchdowns in five of his six starts, he has also failed to cross the 200-yard mark in half of his starts while virtually ignoring the wide receiver position at times. Since Tannehill took over in Week 7, no Titans wide receiver has exceeded 30 receiving yards or three receptions in back-to-back weeks. The closest any Titans pass-catcher has come to consistency was when Jonnu Smith put up 64 and 78 yards in Weeks 7 and 8. A.J. Brown has been a favorite target for Tannehill and certainly offers the most upside for this group. Beyond Brown (and even including Brown, to be honest), it should be easy to avoid this Titans passing offense for fantasy purposes. The Raiders defense may have held Patrick Mahomes to just 175 passing yards and one passing touchdown last week, but that was not necessarily due to particularly strong play from this defense as the Chiefs offense was cruising due to the big lead built up by halftime. Looking at the season as a whole, the Raiders have been one of the worst teams in football against the pass with multiple touchdowns given up in eight of 12 games, including Week 12 against what has been a very poor Jets offense. Big plays have been a problem for this secondary, as they have allowed the second-most pass plays of 20 or more yards (56) and the third-most of 40 or more yards (13). They lack a true playmaking defensive back with mediocre safeties and just one decent coverage cornerback in Daryl Worley. All Titans receivers should have an advantage in their matchups this week, with Adam Humphries, in particular, seeing a bump due to the very poor play from slot cornerback Lamarcus Joyner. Jonnu Smith should also have a decent shot at finding the end zone against this defense that has allowed the second-most touchdowns (8) to opposing tight ends and gave up 90 yards to Travis Kelce last week.

Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 12 vs JAX (3 / 2 / 29 / 0 rec - 3.9 points, $5200)

Corey Davis had little impact on this game as he returned from the hip injury, hauling in just two receptions for 29 yards from three total targets. Both of his receptions came on back-to-back plays midway through the second quarter, one a short screen and the second a long catch in the middle of the field for 24 yards. Davis did find himself wide open for what could have been a huge play if not for Tannehill overthrowing him by about five yards. This low volume passing offense has now kept Davis under 50 receiving yards in three straight games.

2019 Week 9 vs CAR (5 / 4 / 48 / 0 rec - 6.8 points, $5300)

Corey Davis was involved in the passing game with more than one deep ball opportunity, but he could not connect on any of them as his opportunities were either underthrown or defended well. Leading into halftime, Davis actually had accounted for a net negative yardage total for the team as he only had one 11-yard reception but was called for a 15-yard facemask penalty earlier in the half. It wasn't until the fourth quarter when the Titans were driving in garbage time that Davis was more involved and hauled in three of his four receptions.

2019 Week 8 vs TB (6 / 2 / 9 / 0 rec - 1.9 points, $5500)

Corey Davis was nowhere to be found in this week's win over the Buccaneers, finishing with just two receptions for nine yards. He was targeted six times, one of which was a well-thrown deep ball just barely batted out of his hands near the end of the first quarter. Davis also saw a deep target in the end zone but couldn't successfully compete for the ball to haul it in.

2019 Week 7 vs LAC (7 / 6 / 80 / 1 rec - 17 points, $5000)

Corey Davis led the team in receiving and tied for the lead in receptions as he had a solid day on Sunday. Davis made a spectacular contested catch on the second drive of the game as he was under tight coverage but plucked the ball away from the defender for an 11-yard gain. Two plays later, Davis hauled in another well-thrown ball that hit him in stride just in front of the defender for a 16-yard gain. His next look in the end zone as Davis settled between two defenders from eight yards out and caught a rocket thrown right between the numbers from Tannehill. Davis took a shot to the head just after making the catch, but he still held on to the ball for his second touchdown of the season. His longest catch of the game would come midway through the fourth quarter as Tannehill hit Davis with a dart about 14-yards downfield that split two defenders. Davis made the catch and quickly turned upfield to complete a 38-yard reception.

2019 Week 6 vs DEN (5 / 3 / 36 / 0 rec - 5.1 points, $5100)

Davis was targeted five times and hauled in just three receptions for 36 yards with all three coming from Ryan Tannehill in the second half. Davis was the target of Tannehill's first pass under center, resulting in a short 5-yard gain. On the following drive, Davis ran a good out route 13-yards downfield as Davis found him on the sideline. Davis would see a deep target later in that drive as well and made a spectacular sideline catch, but just barely missed getting two feet in as it was called incomplete. His last reception came on another well-ran out route on the right side of the field as Davis snagged the ball and spun for a few extra yards to complete his longest gain of the day--18 yards.

2019 Week 5 vs BUF (4 / 2 / 28 / 0 rec - 3.8 points, $5300)

The top play of the game for Davis came just before halftime as he ran a great comeback route to make the catch about 11-yards downfield before shedding an arm-tackle and turning it upfield to gain another 12 yards on his way to the 23-yard reception. Davis was targeted just three more times and managed to haul in just one short pass as he finished with a disappointing 28 total yards.

2019 Week 4 vs ATL (6 / 5 / 91 / 1 rec - 17.6 points, $5200)

Davis hauled in the first catch of the game on a simple five-yard out route where he stiff-armed a defender to create a gain of 14 yards. His second catch came wide open underneath zone coverage. His third catch was a nice come-backer where Davis hauled it in despite tight coverage from Desmond Trufant. He then broke away from Trufant's tackle attempt to pick up another five yards after the catch. Davis found the end zone on his next reception a few plays later on that drive as he made a nice cut after the catch on an out route, speeding around the Falcons defender before sprinting up the sideline for a 23-yard touchdown. His last reception came in the third quarter as Davis again found space in zone coverage to haul in a 16-yard gain over the middle.

2019 Week 3 vs JAX (4 / 3 / 44 / 0 rec - 5.9 points, $5500)

Corey Davis had another disappointing outing as he finished with just three receptions for a season-high 44 yards while contending with shadow coverage from Jalen Ramsey. His first target wasn't until the drive before halftime as Davis negated his own catch by lining up incorrectly to draw an illegal formation penalty. He would finish the first half with just one target but no catches. Davis would haul in all three targets that went his way in the fourth quarter, including an impressive one-handed grab on the left sideline. He fumbled right after the catch, but it was recovered by the Titans. Davis closed out the game with a 19-yard reception on the final drive as he took advantage of soft coverage from the Jaguars defense.

2019 Week 2 vs IND (5 / 3 / 38 / 0 rec - 5.3 points, $5700)

Corey Davis had another underwhelming performance as he saw just five targets--one fewer than Delanie Walker and the same amount as rookie A.J. Brown. After coming up short with no receptions in Week 1, Davis had his first reception of the season come on the third drive of this game as he grabbed a simple short pass for six yards. He would haul in another short pass for seven yards to finish a very quiet first half. His highlight of the game came to start the second half as Davis found separation to get open for a 25-yard reception. The cornerback in coverage came up injured on that play, which helped Davis to be left wide open downfield. This would be his final reception of the game.

2019 Week 1 vs CLE (3 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec - 0 points, $6200)

Corey Davis was invisible on the stat sheet as he finished with no receptions from three targets. He struggled to get open throughout the game, and even when he was open, Mariota was not accurate enough to get him the ball.

Our View: Davis should draw AJ Bouye more often than AJ Brown and isn't a great play in his first week back. Matchups against Oakland and Houston in Weeks 14 and 15 should be more favorable.
