Jets | Coach optimistic about Sam Darnold (Sun Jan 17, 12:51 PM) - New York Jets QB Sam Darnold's status with the team is uncertain, but head coach Robert Saleh believes Darnold has some untapped potential after watching tape on him. Our View: Darnold did not play up to expectations under former head coach Adam Gase. It appears like he's going to get a chance to turn things around this year under the Jets new regime.link to story Jets | Sam Darnold likely to return (Fri Jan 15, 02:11 AM) - New York Jets QB Sam Darnold is likely to be the team's starting quarterback next season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who said he would be 'surprised' if Darnold was not the team's Week 1 starter. Our View: The Jets have the no.2 overall pick so they can get some much-needed help on the offensive line with Oregon OT Penei Sewell. Better protection for Darnold and a better direction under new head coach Robert Saleh should lead to better numbers from the passing game.
link to story Jets | Sam Darnold could still be QB1 in 2021 (Mon Jan 11, 01:36 AM) - New York Jets QB Sam Darnold is viewed internally as 'good enough to build around,' in the opinion of ESPN's Todd McShay, who said that GM Joe Douglas is unlikely to draft a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft. Our View: According to PFF, Darnold faced the highest pressure rate of any quarterback in the NFL this season. It would be interesting to see what Darnold would look like under a new head coach and with better protection around him. It might be too early to give up on the former top-5 pick.
