Week 14: vs Indianapolis Colts

All WR vs IND

FBG says: Good matchup. Deshaun Watson continues to lose the volume game as a passer, but win the efficiency war. With Will Fuller on injured reserve and the Texans dominating games so often, Watson's dynamic arm isn't being called on much. He hasn't thrown for more than 239 yards in a game since Week 5, averaging just 26 attempts over that span. But he's completed 65% of those throws at a solid 7.9 yards apiece, and he's still producing touchdowns (13 over 7 games). That's more than enough efficiency to supplement Watson's rushing production in fantasy. Unfortunately, it doesn't look able to support more than one reliable fantasy receiver. DeAndre Hopkins continues to excel, averaging 74 yards per game and scoring 6 times over the volume dip. But Demaryius Thomas is little more than window dressing on the other side, and no one has been pushed into Fuller's deep ball role. Watson and Hopkins are maintaining their fantasy value just fine through different game scripts, but no one else can be counted on to do so. The Colts pass defense has improved of late on paper, but remains a mess under closer examination. They've looked passable against a handful of lower-tier passing games, though Alex Smith (292 yards) and Blake Bortles (26 of 38 for 320 and 2 touchdowns) both posted big weeks earlier in the year. Even Ryan Tannehill and Cody Kessler (a combined 71% completions and 4 touchdowns) found efficiency over the last 2 weeks. The Colts pass defense, like that of the Buccaneers, seems designed to sit back and allow, then tackle, open receptions. Good passers - like this week's opponent, Deshaun Watson (375 yards their first meeting) - have picked them apart all season with after-the-catch routes and timing throws. There's no real matchup here for DeAndre Hopkins, who could find himself running free all day through this under-talented secondary.
