Game Recaps

2013 Week 2 vs OAK (3 / 2 / 23 / 0 rec, 1 / -9 / 0 rush)

Burton was the third receiver on the field. His first reception came in the second quarter. He could only gain a yard on a bubble screen that the Raiders quickly got to. Another screen play gave Burton his second reception, a 22 yard gain, but this time it was a screen that was a fake allowing Burton to run free down the sideline. The Jaguars tried to get Burton free on an end around in the third quarter, but the Raiders LaMarr Houston read the play brilliantly and tackled him almost immediately after he got the ball. Henne tried to find Burton by the sideline in the fourth quarter, but Henne's pass lofted and never got near the receiver as a defender breaked on it.

2013 Week 3 vs SEA (9 / 5 / 42 / 0 rec)

Burton caught a five yard out route to start the Jaguars' first drive of the second quarter. Burton caught a pass underneath to start the Jaguars' next drive, as he ran underneath the offensive line after a hard play-action. Burton was the primary option for the Jaguars' passing attack. He dropped his next target as he ran free on a shallow crossing route. Burton followed that up with a curl route on second and 12. He caught the ball short of a first down marker against off coverage, but broke a tackle to get a first down. Burton caught another pass for a first down on the Jagaurs' second drive of the second half when he found space on a curl route over the middle. On third and nine after Cecil Shorts' big play, Burton saw a short target that Richard Sherman punched away from him.

2013 Week 10 vs TEN (1 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec)

Burton caught his only target, it came in the fourth quarter. He ran a quick slant route for a first down before taking a big hit from a defender.

2012 Week 2 vs IND (2 / 1 / 7 / 1 rec)

Burton had one catch for a highlight reel touchdown that proves it's worth practicing the tip drill each week. On the play, Ponder threw a ball (which appeared to be for tight end Kyle Rudolph) that got tipped at the line and flew straigfht up into the air on a high arc. It bounced off Rudolph's hands and into Burton's.

2012 Week 13 vs GB (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

As was the case with the rest of the receivers, Burton was unable to find a way to get away from the Packers secondary on the rare occasion he was even on the field (just 12 snaps out of 46 offensive snaps). Burton has shown some flashes, but for the most part is just a warm body in this offense.

2012 Week 15 vs STL (4 / 3 / 22 / 0 rec)

Burton's first reception was an impressive catch on a slant route when he bounced off the initial hit for a 13 yard gain. Burton caught a bubble screen for a four yard gain when he was tackled by the first defender arriving. Burton caught another quick pass in the flat for six yards in the fourth quarter.
