|6-4, 245||Born: 7-3-1991||College: Harvard||Drafted: ---|
2019 Week 1 vs SF (2 / 2 / 8 / 0 rec)
Brate scored on a beautifully executed tight end screen from Winston in the 2nd quarter, faking a block and running untouched in to the end zone, but the play was called back for a holding penalty on the offensive line. Brate had yet another touchdown nullified by a holding penalty(both were on Demar Dotson) later in the same drive after he made an amazing toe-tapping catch over two defenders in the back of the end zone. Brate finished the day with two official catches for just 8 yards.
2019 Week 2 vs CAR (2 / 2 / 10 / 0 rec)
Brate caught an out route for a short gain before being pushed out of bounds in the 1st. Brate had one more tough catch in traffic to convert 3rd and 4 late in the 1st half.
2019 Week 3 vs NYG (3 / 2 / 7 / 0 rec)
Brate took a backseat as Howard worked more deep routes down the seam and sideline. Brate managed only two catches for a total of 7 yards as Winston did most of his damage with Evans.
2019 Week 4 vs LAR (3 / 3 / 36 / 1 rec)
Brate made a tough contested catch up the seam on the first drive of the game. He caught an out route for a solid gain late in the 3rd quarter. Brate found the end zone at the end of the same drive, running one of his signature seam routes and making a tough contested catch. Brate hasn't generated much in the way of stats, but he's found the end zone three times this season, which is three more than OJ Howard has accounted for.
2019 Week 5 vs NO (1 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec)
Brate secured his only target for an 11 yard gain up the seam on the first offensive play of the game.
2019 Week 6 vs CAR (4 / 2 / 47 / 1 rec)
Similar to Howard, Brate caught 2 of 4 passes this week, but he was much more efficient with his catches. Brate scored in the 4th quarter, lining up tight to the offensive line on the 9 yard line and taking off on one of the patented post routes that he and Winston have had so much success with. Brate also logged the longest reception of the day with a 30 yard post route in the 4th that saw him rumble through a tackler before picking up more yards downfield.
2019 Week 8 vs TEN (6 / 3 / 32 / 0 rec)
Brate unfortunately did not see an uptick in his usage with OJ Howard this week. He caught a deep out route for a 12 yard gain early in the first drive of the game. He made a tough catch in traffic on a curl route in the 2nd quarter, and finished with a short reception in the 3rd, totaling a paltry 32 yards on the day. Backup tight end Hudson actually drew more looks in the red zone.
2019 Week 9 vs SEA (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Brate posted a complete dud in OJ Howards absence this week against a Seahawks defense that has been fairly generous to tight ends. Backup TE's Hudson and Auclair both caught a pass, and Hudson had a target in the end zone that he nearly collected for a score. This offense has proven to be a barren wasteland for tight end productivity, with Evans and Godwin hogging all the targets on a weekly basis.
2019 Week 10 vs ARI (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Brate was healthy, but was held without a catch again this week.
2019 Week 11 vs NO (14 / 10 / 73 / 0 rec)
Brate, forgotten for weeks in this offense barren of tight end production, appeared to be the beneficiary of the coaching staff's frustration with Howard. Howard bobbled an easy catch on a short route in the 1st, resulting in an interception. Howard was benched after the interception. Brate was targeted across the middle on Tampa's next offensive play, and went on to draw a team-high 14 targets. Brate and Winston couldn't get any of their big connections down the seam going, instead working the short middle and outside of the field with out and crossing routes. Brate collected 10 of his 14 targets, but did not draw any looks in the end zone.
2018 Week 1 vs NO (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Brate wasn't used much in the passing game as Fitzpatrick was dialed in with receivers Evans and Jackson. Brate nearly made an amazing high-point catch near the end zone in the second quarter, but he was forced out of bounds by a defender. It was his only target of the day. OJ Howard had nearly twice as many snaps as Brate.
2018 Week 2 vs PHI (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Brate was shut out for the second week in a row, as OJ Howard drew all the tight end targets for Tampa Bay.
2018 Week 3 vs PIT (4 / 3 / 34 / 1 rec)
After an 18 yard Peyton Barber run put Bucs inside the Steelers 5 yard line in the 1st quarter, Fitzpatrick faked a play action to Barber in a goal line set, and Brate leaked into the end zone where he was wide open under the goal post for an easy score. Brate stretched the field with a nice 21 yard gain on a deep post later in the 1st quarter. Brate had to fully extend for the pass, but still managed to deliver a blow to his defender as he secured the pass and came back down to earth. Brate hauled in an out route for a short gain early in the 4th quarter, his last reception of the day. Brate drew 4 targets to OJ Howards' 8.
2018 Week 4 vs CHI (4 / 3 / 29 / 1 rec)
Brate was involved in the passing game before OJ Howard left with an injury, and saw an uptick in targets after his fellow tight end went down. Brate caught a check down pass on a crossing route in the 1st quarter, coming up well short of a long 3rd down marker. Fitzpatrick found him for a touchdown near the end of the 2nd quarter, but Brate was flagged for pushing off on his defender in the end zone. Brate caught a short curl route from Winston in the 3rd quarter. Winston found Brate in the end zone early in the 4th quarter, with the tight end taking a big hit to the back while stretching out for the high pass. Brate held on for the touchdown but had to take a knee for a couple of minutes before popping up and limping off the field. Fellow tight end Howard left in the second quarter with a sprained MCL, and could miss up to 4 weeks, freeing up extra targets and snaps for Brate.
2018 Week 6 vs ATL (1 / 1 / 15 / 1 rec)
Brate scored on the Bucs' opening drive. He split out into the left slot and worked his way into the end zone against a linebacker in coverage, hauling in a strongly contested pass just over the pylon. Brate drew one last target in the 4th quarter, bobbling it badly as a defender drug him to the ground. Chris Godwin made a heads-up play, snagging the ball as Brate went down. The catch was officially ruled a "target" for Godwin, making Brate's early touchdown his only official target of the day. OJ Howard drew several targets and scored a touchdown of his own.
2018 Week 7 vs CLE (4 / 3 / 23 / 0 rec)
Brate fumbled on a short reception at the end of the 1st half, losing the ball and stalling out the 2 minute drill. He was quiet until the 4th quarter. Winston hit him on a short out route early in the quarter, then once more up the seam with seconds left in regular time. Brate took a big shot from two defenders who sandwiched him on the last catch, but he popped back up. Brate was out-targeted 9-4 by OJ Howard, with third string TE Antony Auclair also drawing 3 targets.
2018 Week 8 vs CIN (2 / 1 / 13 / 0 rec)
Brate wasn't heard from much in the passing game, converting 3rd and long in the 3rd quarter with a skinny post. The 13 yard completion was his only catch of the day. Brate was also the target on Winston's 3rd interception of the day. He was wide open on a curl route, but Winston overthrew him badly and sailed the ball right into the arms of the deep safety.
2018 Week 9 vs CAR (3 / 3 / 15 / 0 rec)
Brate lined up with his hand in the dirt and caught a play action out-route for a short gain on his first target of the day in the 1st. He was quiet until he gathered two more short receptions in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter, finishing his day with just 15 yards on 3 targets.
2018 Week 10 vs WAS (3 / 1 / 14 / 0 rec)
Brate was overthrown on his first target, a short out route in the 2nd quarter. Brate hauled in a strongly contested pass in traffic for a 14 yard gain up the seam later in the same drive. Fitzpatrick looked to him a couple of plays later in the end zone, but Brate was blanketed in coverage and couldn't bring down the contested pass. OJ Howard was also held to just 1 catch on 2 targets.
2018 Week 11 vs NYG (3 / 2 / 16 / 0 rec)
Brate caught a quick slant inside the New York 10 yard line in the 1st quarter, but was tackled short of the goal line. He picked up 10 yards on an out route late in the 4th quarter and was blasted with a hard tackle while making the catch.
2018 Week 12 vs SF (4 / 3 / 26 / 1 rec)
Brate caught Winston's first touchdown pass of the day in the 1st quarter. He lined up with his hand in the dirt and worked his way open in the back of the end zone while Winston scrambled to buy time before finding the tight end in the back corner. Winston found Brate up the seam for an 11 yard gain at the end of the 2nd quarter, then again two plays later for a short gain on a curl route. Winston looked for Brate in the end zone at the end of the drive, but the tight end was well covered by multiple defenders.Brate did not have any targets after halftime.
2018 Week 13 vs CAR (6 / 3 / 36 / 0 rec)
Brate very nearly scored on the first drive of the game, but he couldn't hold on to a short pass as he was caught up between three defenders. Winston and Brate barely missed a long connection on a deep post route late in the 2nd quarter. Brate sniffed the goal line at the end of the 1st half when he caught an out route and was tackled on Carolina's 3 yard line. Brate's biggest gain of the day came on an 18 yard connection up the left seam at the end of the 3rd quarter.
2018 Week 14 vs NO (4 / 2 / 12 / 2 rec)
Brate only managed 12 yards but scored twice in the first half of the game. He lined up tight and worked his way to the front pylon of the end zone where he scored his first touchdown early in the 1st quarter. Brate made a strong catch between two defenders just behind the pylon. Brate got open on a play action pass from inside the New Orleans 1 yard line for his second touchdown at the end of the 1st half of play. Brate did not record any stats after halftime.
2018 Week 15 vs BAL (2 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec)
Brate was a non-factor as Tampa Bay's passing game struggled in the rain. He hauled in a short crossing route for a 9 yard gain in the 4th quarter.
2018 Week 16 vs DAL (3 / 2 / 8 / 0 rec)
Brate was not a factor in the passing game. He finally got on the board with a short gain on a crossing route that was hotly contested by linebacker Vander Esch in the 4th quarter. Winston found him for a short checkdown pass late in the 4th quarter. Brate did not get any looks in the end zone this week.
2018 Week 17 vs ATL (4 / 2 / 39 / 0 rec)
Brate only hauled in two passes, one right after the other on a 3rd quarter drive. He lined up tight to the offensive line and ran a fly route straight down the middle of the field for his first reception, and hooked up with Winston on a deep crossing route with room to run down to the Falcons 10 yard line on the very next play. Other than those two consecutive plays, Brate was a nonfactor in the passing game.
2017 Week 2 vs CHI (3 / 2 / 24 / 0 rec)
Brate narrowly missed a big gain on a deep post during Tampa's first offensive drive, but he did draw a pass interference penalty on the play. He finally reeled in a target on an out route late in the 3rd quarter, and again later in the drive, finishing his day with 3 targets, 2 catches, and 24 yards.
2017 Week 3 vs MIN (4 / 4 / 33 / 1 rec)
Brate made an outstanding effort to secure his first target from Winston, an ill-advised desperation throw into triple coverage in the 1st quarter. He caught another short out route at the end of the 2nd quarter for a modest gain. Brate lined up inline and took off up the seam in the 3rd quarter, catching a dime from Winston for an 18 yard touchdown. It was the connection we got used to seeing in the red zone last year as Winston and Brate's chemistry grew..
2017 Week 4 vs NYG (6 / 4 / 80 / 1 rec)
Brate was targeted on a crossing route in the end zone at the end of the 2nd quarter, but he was unable to bring in the tough catch. Brate missed another pass on 4th and 2 later in the 4th quarter, but quickly redeemed himself as he capped off the next drive with a touchdown. The Bucs drove down to the New York red zone and Brate got the look from Winston, putting his hand in the dirt inline and catching ball on a seam route in the end zone. Brate snagged an out route on the final winning drive of the game, then got wide open down the right seam where he caught a beautiful over the shoulder throw from Winston for 26 yards. The catch put the Bucs in range for the winning field goal. Brate finished with 4 catches for 80 yards and the score on 6 targets.
2017 Week 5 vs NE (9 / 5 / 68 / 1 rec)
Brate had another strong performance and barely missed several opportunities to pile up more stats. He had a step on a deep post route at the end of the 1st quarter, but safety Patrick Chung made a great diving play on the ball to break up the pass. Brate leaked out into the left flat uncovered and picked up 20 yards down the left sideline later in the 2nd, but a penalty on OJ Howard negated the play. Safety Chung thwarted another big reception by Brate when he broke up a deep crossing route with another diving effort in the 3rd quarter. Brate hauled in a slant route to convert 3rd and long later in the same drive. Winston targeted Brate in the end zone halfway through the 4th quarter on the seam route that we see them connect on so often, but Brate was again blanketed by two defenders. Chung reached around Brate and knocked another pass loose on a comeback route with less than 3 minutes left in the game. Brate got the upper hand on the next play as he lined up in the right slot and took off up the seam for a touchdown reception. Winston found Brate one final time on a curl route as the Bucs attempted to drive and score with less than a minute left in the game. Brate finished the day tied with Jackson for a team-high 9 targets.
2017 Week 6 vs ARI (8 / 6 / 76 / 1 rec)
Brate flexed out to the slot and caught a deep out route for a nice gain on the 1st drive of the game. Brate lost his coverage and was standing wide open in the middle of the field later in the 1st on a Winston scramble for another big gain. Brate showed good chemistry with Ryan Fitzpatrick after Winston left with a shoulder injury in the 1st half. Fitzpatrick found Brate for a 10 yard gain on 3rd and 7 on his first offensive drive of the game. The Harvard duo hooked up for another big gain at the end of the 1st half with a beautiful over-the shoulder catch down the left sideline. Brate scored early in the 4th corner, flexing a couple steps off the left side of the line and working his way to the back of the end zone from the Arizona 10 yard line. Fitzpatrick hurled a dime pass through a couple of defenders for the score. Brate hauled in one final crossing route on Tampa's last offensive drive of the game.
2017 Week 7 vs BUF (9 / 6 / 60 / 0 rec)
OJ Howard broke out with more targets and receptions in week 7, but Brate maintained his role as a consistent receiver with a more polished route tree, able to move around the formation in a variety of positions. Winston looks to Brate when everyone knows the offense needs a completion, while Howard tends to sneak big plays in when defenses are least expecting it. Brate hauled in a deep pass on 3rd and long early in the 1st quarter that set the Bucs up for a successful 50 yard field goal attempt. Winston looked to Brate in the end zone later in the quarter, but a defender batted the pass down. Brate had another catch and run down the left sideline in the late seconds of the 1st half, but Winston was intercepted on the next play while looking for Brate down the right seam. The interception was the QB's fault as Brate was clearly covered the entire time. Brate hauled in one of his clutch catches up the seam to convert on 3rd and 13, extending an early 4th quarter drive with uncanny awareness of the 1st down marker. Brate and Winston converted again with the same play on 3rd and 6 later in the 4th.
2017 Week 8 vs CAR (5 / 4 / 64 / 0 rec)
Brate led the team in receiving yards despite only drawing half the targets(5) that Mike Evans did. He hauled in an out route for a short gain early in the 1st. Brate got open down the right seam for a big gain in the 2nd quarter.. Brate split off the left side of the formation and hauled in a deep post for a 23 yards, Winston's longest completion of the game in the 3rd quarter. Brate picked up one more big catch over the middle as the Bucs tried in vain to rally late in the 4th. Brate was the target on Winston's 2nd interception, but the blame falls on the QB for ever making the throw as LB Kuechley had Brate blanketed the entire play. OJ Howard has lots of big play potential, but Brate is the reliable option who gets open and fights hard for contested catches when Winston struggles with accuracy.
2017 Week 9 vs NO (4 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec)
Brate lined up in the backfield in a split-back set and leaked out into the flat for a short 1st down reception late in the 1st quarter. He drew a few more targets, but neither Winston nor Fitzpatrick could deliver an accurate ball to the tight end, who missed a couple of diving efforts up the seam. Mike Evans' one-game suspension leaves Brate as Tampa Bay's most reliable receiving option for their matchup next week.
2017 Week 10 vs NYJ (3 / 1 / 10 / 0 rec)
Brate and rookie TE OJ Howard were not a big part of the game plan in Winston and Evans' absence. Brate flexed out into the slot and picked up 10 yards on an out route to convert 3rd and 9 late in the 1st quarter, his only catch. He was targeted two more times on the day, well behind Desean Jackson and rookie WR Godwin.
2017 Week 11 vs MIA (3 / 1 / 12 / 0 rec)
Brate secured just one reception for the third week in a row as his role in the offense continues to dwindle. He split out wide right in a triple receiver bunch formation in the 2nd quarter and hauled in a crossing route for 12 yards. Brate did have another nice catch in the 4th quarter that was nullified by a holding penalty. He was targeted again up the seam later in the 4th quarter, but the ball was batted away by a defender. Rookie TE OJ Howard was drawing targets early in the game and may be moving to secure a bigger share of Tampa's targets on a more permanent basis. Brate could get a boost if starting QB Winston returns.
2017 Week 12 vs ATL (2 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)
Brate's role in the Tampa Bay offense continues to dwindle as he secured just one pass for the 4th week in a row, a short crossing route late in the 3rd quarter. Brate was targeted one last time on 4th and 1 deep in Atlanta territory in the 4th, but he couldn't haul in the seam route amid tough coverage from Atlanta.
2017 Week 13 vs GB (6 / 2 / 39 / 2 rec)
Winston's return at quarterback ended a drought for Brate that saw him post one catch each week for the last four weeks. Brate started his day with a brilliant touchdown catch in the 1st quarter, lining up in a bunch formation with two other receivers and taking off up the seam for a one-handed touchdown grab over his defender. Brate nearly had another catch in the end zone at the end of the 2nd quarter, but a defender knocked the ball away. Winston looked to Brate again on a seam route from the left slot position on the very next play, but overthrew the ball, forcing Tampa Bay to kick a field goal right before halftime. Brate caught his second touchdown from the left slot, flexing out and working his way open just over the goal line on a curl route in the 4th.
2017 Week 14 vs DET (1 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec)
Brate seemed to be completely forgotten one week after breaking his slump with a two touchdown performance. Rookie tight end Howard was featured early and often in the passing game, vulturing many of Brate's routes up the seam. Brate was not targeted at all until late in the 4th quarter when he hauled in a comeback route up the left seam for an 11 yard gain.
2017 Week 15 vs ATL (5 / 4 / 49 / 0 rec)
Brate took a big hit in the first quarter while hauling in a deep pass up the seam. The blow knocked the pass loose for an incompletion and sent Brate to the locker room with a knee injury. He returned after halftime, securing his first reception late in the 3rd quarter on a deep comeback route. Winston targeted him on the same route a few plays later, but a defender knocked the ball loose as Brate attempted to secure it. Brate flexed out to the slot and caught another deep comeback up the left seam late in the 4th quarter, setting up Adam Humphries' touchdown reception two plays later. Brate picked up another 13 yard gain with less than a minute left in the game, hauling in an out route while the Bucs attempted to drive down and tie the game. Winston went right back to him two plays later for another completion up the seam with less than 20 seconds left in the game. The completions drove the Bucs into Atlanta territory, but kicker Murray missed the game-tying 54 yard attempt as time expired.
2017 Week 16 vs CAR (4 / 3 / 13 / 0 rec)
Despite Howard's absence, Brate couldn't get anything going with Winston. He caught a short crossing route on 3rd and long early in the 2nd quarter. Brate drew a defensive holding penalty on a seam route in the end zone at the end of the first half, setting Tampa Bay up with first and goal at the Carolina goal line. Brate hauled in a short checkdown pass late in the 4th quarter, then one final out route for a minimal gain on Tampa's last drive.
2017 Week 17 vs NO (5 / 3 / 37 / 0 rec)
Brate made a nice leaping effort to haul in an overthrown ball early in the 1st. He caught another short out route and turned it up the right sideline later in the 1st, somersaulting over a defender for a 3rd down conversion. Brate was quiet until late in the 4th when he flexed out into the slot and caught a curl route to convert 4th and 10 at the end of the 4th.
2016 Week 1 vs ATL (3 / 3 / 30 / 0 rec)
Brate always seems to show up big during 2 minute drills, and this week was no exception. The Bucs got the ball back with just under 2 minutes left in the first half, and Winston went to work, targeting Brate on three consecutive out routes, all completions for decent gains. He finished the day with receptions on 3 of 4 of his targets.
2016 Week 2 vs ARI (4 / 3 / 16 / 0 rec)
Brate got involved late in the 2nd quarter, hauling in a deep out route to convert 3rd and 4 and keep the Tampa Bay drive alive. He followed it up on the next play with a short catch for no gain. Brate, whose targets always seem to come in bunches, was targeted two more times shortly after, but both were overthrown by Winston.
2016 Week 3 vs LA (10 / 5 / 46 / 2 rec)
Brate was targeted near the goal line in the 2nd quarter on a broken play that saw Winston scrambling all over the backfield. Brate had worked himself open, but Winston didn't have time to set his feet and sailed the ball high. Two plays later Brate streaked down the numbers on the right side and caught a deep ball from Winston to set the Bucs up inside the 10 yard line. On the next play, Winston lined up under center and rolled out right after faking a handoff to RB Sims. Brate leaked out into the flat and ran parallel with Winston until he found an open spot in the end zone. Winston threw the ball a bit behind him, but Brate reached back and deftly caught it one handed for the touchdown. Brate later caught another seam route down the left side of the field on play action for a nice gain later in the 3rd quarter, and an out route for gain of 8 later in the 4th. Brate scored his second touchdown of the day on a play action pass from the 1 yard line. He lined up inline as a blocker on the right side of the formation and found an open spot in the back of the end zone as Winston faked the handoff to Rogers. Brate was targeted in the back of the end zone again on the next drive, but the ball was knocked away by the defensive coverage. Brate figures to pick up the most work with Austin Seferian-Jenkins released from the team. Even though Brate might be more limited athletically than ASJ, he was already trusted more in the offense, being used as the feature tight end in 2 minute drills.
2016 Week 4 vs DEN (8 / 5 / 67 / 0 rec)
Brate's first catch was a deep out route on the left side of the field in the first quarter. Brate flexed out left and lept to catch his second target on an identical play later in the first quarter, proving to be more than a mismatch for the safeties attempting to cover him. Brate had another big catch over the middle later in the same drive to put Tampa Bay in the Denver red zone. Brate finished the day with 5 catches on 8 targets, leading the team in yardage and tying Mike Evans for most receptions on fewer targets.
2016 Week 5 vs CAR (3 / 1 / 38 / 0 rec)
Brate had a short reception in the 2nd quarter overturned when Carolina challenged the ruling of a completed pass. His reception was a beautiful 38 yard reception down the left sideline on a play action pass during the 3rd quarter. Brate did a great job of selling it as a blocker before streaking down the field for the long reception. Tampa Bay followed the big play up with a touchdown to Mike Evans on the very next play. He also missed a pass on an out route late in the 4th quarter that was badly thrown by Winston.
2016 Week 7 vs SF (3 / 3 / 29 / 0 rec)
Brate had a quiet night in Vincent Jackson's absence, gathering all 3 of his targets for just 29 yards. He caught his first target, a slant route, while flexed out to the left of the formation in the slot in the 2nd quarter. Brate was targeted in the red zone on a short crossing route in the 2nd quarter, but he failed to convert 3rd and short after hauling in the pass. The drive ended in a field goal. Brate hauled in his longest gain of 17 during a 2-minute drill at the end of the 1st half. The tight end flexed out right into the slot and got open on a skinny post route for the gain.
2016 Week 8 vs OAK (5 / 3 / 22 / 1 rec)
Brate secured a highly contested ball on a crossing route in the 1st quarter to convert a 3rd down on Tampa Bay's 2nd scoring drive. He caught a touchdown pass on a short post route in the beginning of the 4th quarter and added a short catch in overtime to finish his day with a 3-22-1 line.
2016 Week 9 vs ATL (6 / 5 / 43 / 1 rec)
Brate nearly had an early touchdown reception on Tampa's first drive as he caught a ball while falling backwards, then got up and ran the ball into the end zone. An official review showed that a defender had just barely touched Brate down while he was on the ground making the catch, so the score was overturned. Brate got open for a big gain over the middle at the end of the 1st quarter. Mike Glennon found Brate twice for short gains on out routes late in the 4th quarter, and then capped the drive with a touchdown pass to the tight end. Brate lined up with his hand in the dirt on the scoring play, and took off on a short out route just over the goal line, where Glennon found him for the touchdown.
2016 Week 10 vs CHI (7 / 7 / 84 / 1 rec)
Brate led the team in catches(7) and yards(84) for the first time in his career. He bailed out a scrambling Winston and converted 3rd and 7 in the 2nd quarter on a crossing route. He followed up later in the same drive with a big gain down the right seam. After punting and then recovering a Bears fumble on the next series, Brate hauled in another big gain on the same play down the right seam. Two plays later, Brate lined up in the slot and caught a touchdown on a skinny post route. Tampa Bay got the ball back one more time in the 1st half with under 2 minutes left, and Brate went back to work with consecutive gains on an out route on the left side of the formation, then the right. Brate cooled off in the 2nd half with only 1 more reception, but he did draw a pass interference flag in the end zone late in the 4th to set the Bucs up on the 1 yard line.
2016 Week 11 vs KC (3 / 2 / 18 / 0 rec)
Brate converted 3rd and 9 with a 10 yard gain on a curl route during Tampa Bay's first offensive drive. He converted another 3rd down with an 8 yard gain on an out route in the 2nd quarter. Winston looked for a Brate on a post route in the end zone on the next play, but overthrew the tight end. After that, it was a quiet 2nd half for Brate, with Alan Cross vulturing a short touchdown reception late in the 4th.
2016 Week 12 vs SEA (5 / 4 / 49 / 0 rec)
Brate recorded the 2nd most targets for the team(5) and had a touchdown called back in the 4th. He got wide open on a deep out route in the 1st quarter for a gain of 27. He took a huge hit from KJ Wright while securing a short out route at the end of the 2nd quarter. Brate's touchdown was nullified in the 4th quarter because of an illegal use of hands to the face penalty on lineman Joe Hawley.
