Boykin didn't earn a lot of praise from the NFL Draft community because he's one of those players whose on-field play didn't easily match up with his NFL Combine metrics. With better quarterback play or a more in-depth evaluation process for receiver play, Boykin's skills become more recognizable. Expect a more precise Ravens passing offense now that the receivers and quarterback will have an entire offseason to perfect the timing of the option passing game that they lacked in 2018.

Summary

Even after selecting Marquise Brown in the first round, Baltimore still had need at wide receiver. So the team traded up to pick Boykin with the 93rd overall pick. Unlike the diminutive speedster Brown, Boykin is a towering presence at 6'4" and 220 pounds. Despite what that size might lead many to believe, Boykin still has excellent speed, having run a 4.42 40-yard dash at the scouting combine. He also has a 43.5-inch vertical leap, which suggests he can be a red zone weapon and win contested deep balls as well. (May 5)
