Week 12: vs Carolina Panthers

All RB vs CAR

FBG says: Great matchup. Alvin Kamara has returned from a short injury absence to a slightly reduced workload on the ground. He's out-carried Latavius Murray 17-15 (53%) over these past 2 games, down sharply from a 76% share pre-injury. Still, Kamara remains the offensive engine and a blue chip fantasy option. He looks as spry and fast as ever, amassing 99 yards on just 17 attempts and weaving huge gains almost at will. It's most likely he's just being eased back in by an offense that's deep and imposing enough to be able to do so. The Saints boast the league's second-best offensive line, according to Footballguys' Matt Bitonti, a mauling unit graded at an A+ in run blocking. Kamara is also heavily utilized in the red zone; he took 2 rushes last week from inside the 10 and had another one, a short touchdown, called back. For his part, Murray has asserted himself into at least a fraction of Mark Ingram's old role, but that could be on the verge of slipping. With Kamara back to full healthy and all of the dynamism that entails, the fantasy world may have already seen Murray's best days of 2019. The Panthers continue to struggle mightily against the run. They showed well last week, at least, albeit against a stripped-down Falcons run game headed by Brian Hill. But over the 5 games prior to that, they'd allowed 6 different runners to top 60 yards - and 2 of them punched in 3 touchdowns. On the year, no team has allowed more scores than this one, and only three have given up more yards per rush. The linebacking corps has been mostly to blame, with Luke Kuechly and Shaq Thompson putting in uneven work against the run. Missed tackles have hampered them, as well as safeties Eric Reid and Tre Boston, resulting in far too many chunk runs against this beatable unit.
